Is Cooper going to run with Jett and Chase? He can’t even work his way to the front of the 250 class if he doesn’t start top 3. I get that he’s younger but failing to see any other reason to choose him over DF.
Contract, easier to work with, etc who knows. There are reasons but nobody really knows. Except the team
Money....
So...since there's no room on any top team, as many point out here...was Cooper signed for a 450 ride with Star (for all practical purposes) before all this with Ferrandis? Was he a "rider in waiting"? I guess what I'm saying is, did Star basically fill the spot DF14 had in advance...or did they wait for Ferrandis to officially be off the team before they "officially" signed Cooper. Was Ferrandis allowed to walk away so Star would have the extra funding to hire Cooper, who probably cost them a helluva lot less than Ferrandis.
If Star considered Dylan to be hard to work with and a huge PITA, I can certainly see their strategy in this. They lose a guy who is a drama queen...and get a youngster who is fast, and probably very grateful for his new ride. I doubt Cooper will bitch and moan much!

The majority of riders on the list were locked into their new deals before it became clear that Ferrandis wouldn't be staying at Star and started looking elsewhere.
The only ones that weren't set when I became aware were Anderson's and the final touches at Star...but some of the Star movement was happening because they were looking at parting ways with Ferrandis.
Sexton was done 2 years ago, Webb was done a year ago. The rest were all re signs that were done before Dylan knew he was out.
I’m talking factory bikes, he just might end up on a lesser team. I know he’s been approached by them, but at this point in his career, he might not be willing to risk it for little money.
He struggled a bit with burnout when he got hurt this last time.
Incorrect analysis. Chase's deal was done after MXON last year, not two years ago, and Coop's deal wasn't done until April of this year. Justin got his ride because Dylan turned down the offer from Yamaha. And you never heard that STAR said he would get a ride if he was battling with Chase and Jett. Who makes up these wild comments?
So Dylan's agents/representatives just assumed he'd re-sign with Star and didn't bother to go out and shop for another deal, even if only to use as leverage with Star?
Calling Ferrandis a "drama queen" really is disrespectful BS.
Really? No team likes a guy who constantly gripes about a bike or about the team…all the while drawing a paycheck from that team, and riding a bike that represents the best that team can build. I’m a Ferrandis fan…but not a fanboy like you are, apparently. I might have used a harsh term that offended you…but the truth is, DF might need to tone down his complaining if he wants to sign with a team with good enough equipment for him to compete on effectively. No team wants to deal with a diva.
Maybe he wants too much money? People act like all these guys are getting paid the same salary or that the teams have unlimited budgets.
If for instance Jett demanded $30m a year from a team next year, he would probably also be without a ride.
What I heard today from a completely separate source is that there is a potential spot opening on a major team but it is not a done deal at this time. The spot may open due to a surprise announcement in the coming weeks/month depending on "personal developments" after a meeting following SMX. I will not say who or what team as what I heard is just hearsay and I did not directly speak to someone in the know. However, when I heard the news and who it was from, it made perfect sense to me. So, if it happens, the hand wringing regarding DF should be over and ML can change his Silly Season article. BTW, if I heard it today on the way to lunch, I am sure the top players in MX/SX media know the answer but are not saying anything out of respect to the rider/team involved.
So wasn't Star the same team that just signed another 450 rider who was complaining about his SX bike? Sat out most of MX due to an injury. Finally agreed with his former team to part ways?
Secondly, the Yamaha seems to be less of an advantage as it was in 2022. Eli cleaned house with the 2022 model. It was excellent.
2023 seemed to be a tick off the pace and only Eli was able to win on it.
How much money should I put on AC retiring???
Really.
It’s too bad that good riders sometimes don’t make it in this sport, but it happens.
It’s too bad he couldn’t secure a deal with Beta or Triumph. He’d be a great addition to those new teams.

2 years ago and a year ago? What timelines are you running off of 😂😂😂
Knowing your worth and what any living human will pay you are two entirely different matters most times. Trailer parks are full of people who know what they are worth. Unfair or not life is how othérs perceive you, not how you perceive yourself.
Major Teams
Red Bull KTM: Sexton, Plessinger
Rockstar Husqvarna: Craig, Stewart
TLD GasGas: Barcia
Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha: Tomac, Webb, Cooper
HRC Honda: Lawrence Bros
Monster Energy Kawasaki: Anderson, Cianciarulo
There's only one rider on that list who has recently talked about an injury not progressing much, as well as a post-racing career.
100%
I really hope this isn’t true but I guess it comes down to results vs. marketability off the track.
"Everythin' but nothin' at all"
I hope it’s not AC, dude is so good when he’s on…. I feel like Anderson, Craig and mookie could all be on the cusp of retirement also. Maybe just wishful thinking.
Is it only me that feels like AC’s ride on Kawi is wasted?
Can qualify fastest on any given Saturday night, can never seem to pull it off when the gate drops.
Why are Kawasaki holding on to him like they are?
Belief in what he's capable of, marketability, brand history, easy to work with.
Also under a contract that already extended into 2024.
Would-could-should Pierer Mobility pony up the money for a 2nd 450 GASGAS at TLD? If all the “good spots” are taken would it be worth while for DF14 to take a smaller salary and get a good bike and team? I’m not sure he really fits the mold for fun rider the brand is marketing for, but damn could someone get this man a ride! Come on Button! Make it happen.
If Dylan went to TLD GasGas, he'd have to get out of his Thor contract, Bell contract, and Monster contract. Massive pay cut, the team pay wouldn't be as high as those three deals.
Secondly, Dylan was actually supposed to be TLD's first 450 guy and was in negotiations with them...ended up moving to 450s with Star instead and Barcia got the spot with GasGas instead. There's a story that floated around about how the negotiations went and something that happened along the way. I won't post it because I haven't been able to confirm if it was true but if so, it sorta makes me think they wouldn't consider him in the future.
Damn it! Has Dylan burned every bridge his crossed? I love watching him ride and honestly wish the best for the guy, but it sounds more and more like the attitude he had when he was winning did not sit well with just about everyone I guess. Kind of Chad Reed’esk but without the real star power to make teams deal with it.
