I second sunset ridge here! Love taking work off on Wednesday's to go there. No better feeling than being one of the first ones out on a freshly prepped sand track!
CGI sucked the day i went back in May. I had it hyped up in my head for a couple months about how great is was gonna be. Then when i arrived, it was a muddy swamp!! Over night rain had ruined it. We rode anyway until another storm shut it down after an hour of practice. Then when CGI posted in IG about how great the riding was that day, i immediately decided i wouldnt waste my time driving 3 hours there every again.
I wanted to say Muddy Creek used to be my favorite, but it was always very deep prepped every time i raced it. Made it tough to get going in moto 1 every time. It had potential to be great. I always loved Wilkes Co MX park in NC. I won a several night races there years ago. Track had some big jumps and great flow. Was always prepped great too. Sometimes the local tracks do it up right. 20 years later now that im back riding again, i really like Revolution MX in Union SC as well. I need to go back again soon. Had a great time riding a few weeks ago.
MM isnt far from me either. I need to go check it out. Pics looked awesome from this past wkd!
From D-23:
Favorite is Millville hands down. Dirt is always really good and multiple lines forming always makes line choices very important. If you like charging down hills, you can't beat it.
My close 2nd is Brookston. Really soft loose dirt, nearly sand, but it has big rocks in it like Unadilla or Binghamton. That's the only down side besides not many jumps. But the whole track is in a valley as well, always up or down a hill.
Best sand track: Grantsburg, WI. It is an actual sand track, not like that shallow crap Southwick claims is "sand". Grantsburg doesn't have a hard base 4" down like Southwick, its 3 feet deep until you hit clay. Track gets 20x gnarlier than Southwick ever will.

Zaca and Chaney. Riverdale in Washington too, the track actually sucks but the scenery and having a beer with your feet in the river after is unbeatable
Hard to choose between Lake Whitney and Swan
Honeylake
I’m going to put honey lake on here because I loved everything about that place. Only got to race worcs there but Friday practice was always fun
Grantsburg - we used to say couldn't wait to get there! and couldn't wait to leave! had many fun races there back in the 90's and early 00's my son and I loved that track. Saw Donny Schmit battle with Bronco (you should know who that is) Bronc was on a 500 Donny was on a 125 it was fricken unreal.
I'm a Red Bud guy. I started racing on their night track as a kid....never knew much about the big track. Once i rode it for the first time....i was hooked. I know it's a cliche at this point but Red Bud is a really fun track to ride. Honorary mention to MC Motopark in Mt Carrol, IL. lots of elevation changes and cool jumps.
I'm going to think on this one and come back to it. I know i'm missing some tracks that i loved over the years
Indian Dunes….. International track. Although I spent most of my time on Shadow Glen.
I think there has to be some serious elevation changes for any real motocross track to be the "best" (and that's always had me wondering about why Lorretta's is the location of the Nt'l Championships). With that in mind, the best track I've been to is Farleigh Castle. It has heritage going back to the 30's, loads of long hills, varied terrain, and is only used twice a year so it starts out on grass. Back-up locations would be Castillo Ranch (a private paradise) and Washougal in the late 80's (when the soil hadn't been ground and scraped into mush).
Farleigh:
Morning practice at Grantsburg was awesome!! 2nd moto, not so much.
Yeah he was the original builder it had changed hands a couple times before it shut down.
Jolly Roger in Lempster NH. I haven't been there in a LONG time but I always remember it being so gnarly and fun
SWAN Early 2000’s. Monster Mountain and Lake Whitney close seconds
out West it’s Cahuilla caught just after a day of rain
Oh wildwood is a top notch track. I ride there 90% of the time when I’m riding locals. Wildwood is great with the sand sections and nice cake clay. Just been blessed to ride some amazing tracks. Mx191 dirt was unreal and cgi was just next level fun with huge jumps.
CGI was prime the weekend we went. Between the huge floating finish line and the triple step up it was just so much fun throwing it over them. I actually thought the dirt was a bit hard packed but they did a national type prep so had great ruts. Couldn’t beat the tracks flow imo
Pit Row
Swan
If I’ve been riding a lot…..Motoland. All sand and it’s so fun.
otherwise still the cliche Red Bud
Maybe it's the edible kicking in, but that was beautifully written haha One of those things you will never forget and reminds us why we love this.
I've watched friends out there and it blows my minds how good the soil is. At first, I expected it to be rock hard, but when they water it, some of the corners look incredible.
For me, nothing will ever be as good as Lake Whitney was.
Damn that looks deep! Would you say it's similar to the sugar sand in Florida? I've ridden trails in central Florida that looked similar to that when didn't rain.
Best track and most fun was at a private track in southwest WI. Marty Leum had a track there, not sure if it's still going or not. It had rained the day before, it was between red bud and Millville. 40 people had to have shown up. The Martin Brothers were there. Jeremy was on an 80 or big wheel Suzuki 100. Brett Metcalfe was there, a whole bunch of 3 digit pros. Probably one of the most fun days I've ever had on a bike. Track was perfect. Great layout in the hills.

“Don’t act like you’re not impressed” lol
