Salty and shameless is Reed's brand, for better and worse.

CR was a great racer. He as a person, is a complete clown.

Redbud was fuller than I have seen it in 15+ years. They had to open up Lot B for additional camping because all of the other lots were full. Don't ever remember seeing that before. The hill was full for practice also, never seen that.

Saw the r1 wsx highlights with 1500 people in the crowd lol man the future looks bright.

At 63 I an an old guy who’s been 100% moto my entire life. I enjoy SX too and go to as many as possible each year, but MX is by far my favorite of the two.

I hate to say it but Chad May be right. After I attended Pala this year on a picture perfect day I came home and wondered how many more years will these outdoor Nationals be around. The crowd was half of the previous year, I was walking through the pits before the races and other than the semis it was like a local weekend race. Then this weekend I of course watched Red Bud first and WSX second. The amount of very good riders skipping MX and taking the $$$ of WSX was astonishing to see. I get it though, you really cannot blame these riders for going where the money is.

Something needs to change or it’s only going to get worse. Maybe a major outdoor Championship to get the best riders behind one gate and use the done time for a support class. I’d hate to see the Nationals go away but it may be inevitable without changes. This year it dropped to 11 rounds, is next year going to be 10?

Been to a lot of them over the years all over the States. California is the capital of moto and when you see crowds dwindling it is not a good sign. Hangtown looked way down also, along with a Thunder Valley. Red Bud seemed to be the only National so far with a large crowd

Last year Washougal had by far the largest crowd I've ever seen since 1982, according to my own eyes, the 4 hour line just to get in to the track on race day, and Ryan Huffan's own words from the tower when he was interviewed.  That battle between Tomac and Sexton was UNREAL. I hope no one has forgotten that last year was the one of the best-if not the best-battles in the 50 year history of the Nationals. https://youtu.be/bsDc4B701Ag

The outdoors is where it all started and there is NOTHING like watching the best in the world on an outdoor track on Raceday.

Supercross is a made-for-money-making circus production for non-rider fans and non-weekend warriors that destroys its stars every season with catastrophic injuries over 17 rounds.  That's why Phil Nicoletti calls it "deathcross"  and why the Nationals are weaker because of it.  But humans are weak and money/greed is King so people say and do what they have to for their share.

I wouldn't say hangtown was way down.  It was a pretty good crowd. Maybe a little less than some years, but also more than some years also.  🤷‍♀️

Of course die hards love motocross, but the money and TV is in supercross.

Many of the riders would prefer SX year round too

Will that money dry up with the attendance I seen?

Which is where the support comes from. the $ is standing on the fence outside. The moto heads who actually buy bikes and products. I will go the grave saying 12sx and 12-mx.. 3 smx at the end.

Honestly I used to be a big Reed fan. Team 22 etc. lately, not so much. He comes across so arrogant. I have no desire to watch wsx after 17 rds of sx. Lets stay outside in the summer like it’s supposed to be.

With that being said, they wanna race indoors. It’s not to grow the sport, it’s because it’s easier.

Someone needs to find a way to go back in time to 1971, find Mike Goodwin, and give him a job as a cook on a cruise ship. If that could just happen, then all would be well with the sport of motocross.

Only here can someone start a thread quoting someone, without any source, and then have two pages of the mob piling on, still without any context or evidence 😂

I found out I missed the opening WSX round when I clicked on Instagram.  Roczen should be upset with himself that anyone is mixing it up with him.  Ya haven’t made enough Chad?

Fact is WSX is but a thing without Saudi sportswashing money.  If they decide to not hand over that money after 5 years WSX will go away.  Whatever they’re paying Reed is wasted money.  They are bringing in as many fans by paying Reed as they would’ve if they just sent the money to me and I didn’t lift a finger to do anything.  It just shows they have that Saudi money falling out of their pockets.  Whatever they’re paying Reed could’ve gone to the riders.  They really needed Reed there with a WSX polo on.  Idiots.

I’m referring to the title of the thread…..and I listened to the Pulp interview and that’s not what I took away from it. Maybe I’m mistaken, but I never heard Reed say the future is SX only. Maybe it was in another interview?

I see allot of messages about sx is where all the money is and stuff..and saying mx is the only real deal. and it’s a shame sx has a more brighter future then mx..

now what I don’t understand I think people the fans are on this board, and nobody who isn’t a mx fan goes to a sx race. And vice versa. So if you want mx to be bigger stop going to sx races just watch that on tv

good call, miss the 2 chances I have in my home state to watch the pros, and drive 10+ hours instead.

Then you are a part of the problem and should not blame them for being bigger moneypit a tv works just fine “ be the change you want to see in this world “

On Pulp Chad did not say the future is SX....unless I clearly missed it coz far out Pulp can drag on sometimes and  I tend to listen to it in the background when doing hobby stuff.

The part I DID catch is when he said that "all the riders want to race WSX", he literally threw a blanket term of all riders then alluded that contract obligations for the US riders were preventing them from doing what they want...which was racing WSX.

I'm a Chad fan but far out I rolled my eyes hard at that one.

Blasphemy by CR. The day it goes SX only (which I really don’t believe will ever happen) is the day I stop supporting the professional level with my $. If that means not supporting the manufacturers by not buying new bikes so be it. No more tv and mag subscriptions or attending pro races either. No nats would be a deal breaker for me.
