Will Haiden Deegan debut for TEAM USA in France?

Edited Date/Time 6/8/2023 7:53pm

Assuming Chase and either (Webb or AP ) for the 450 slots the 250 ride comes down to 3 at present:

1) J Coop ( the favourite)

2) RJ (who wants the gig)

3) Deegan

RJ and Deegan both finished 1st amercian on their respectrive SX coasts (so lets call that a tie ....if SX even counts for selection(?))

Early days outdoors but deegan has clearly looked the best of the three and has alot of momentum!

I reckon he may get the ride assuming they decide not to put AP on the 250?

It's too early to say, but Haiden is such an incredible racer, and would no doubt step up to the plate if asked.  He has that old school influence from his dad, and has silenced any doubts regarding his talent and dedication to motocross.  I hope to see him continue to get better and better, and continue on his path to success.

No he’s 17. Let him be a rookie and train and build his foundation. That would be a dumb distraction.

My opinion; he might surprise everyone if given the chance to go. I believe he could put in two solid motos down and be a contributing factor for a victory over there. He has impressed thus far. Bet he could do it again.

I would say he's in. Cooper is out for wedding. Who else is there to pick from? Kid has the best results and consistent.

No way hope he never makes it.  He'll be out there trying to clean the rest of his team out during qualifier races.  Give me RJ, Bam on a 250 or pretty much anyone else.  Personally I am not a fan of that whole Deegan camp.

Kids got heart and pride, he will deliver if given the opportunity to represent America.

People over think this kid so much it's actually making me become a fan.... if you forget all the noise and his age and just watch him race, what's the argument for not selecting him? The fact that he's doing this with so much potential for distraction around him is pretty impressive to me. No matter what he's been given in life to help get him here, he clearly still has that will to win motivating him. I'm an RJ fan as well but if you had to pick today I think it would be crazy to pick RJ over Deegan.

I like RJ for this year

No idea.  But if it happens you can rest assured he will give it 110% to represent the US as the best he possibly could.  It would also likely shut up a lot of online haters because you can't root against your guys in a MXoN event, ever.  And lastly, the kid seems to ride well when he has a chip on his shoulder, and doubting him would fuel that fire.

Wow!  really? He's in that conversation already?  Well shit, scoreboard! - I guess he is.  It almost seems as though you need to pay your moto dues a bit but hell if he's the best pick he'll handle - I don't think he'll buckle.  I tried not to cheer for him too much cause I always prefer an underdog, but damn I'm on the bandwagon.  The guy seems to get faster every time he swings a leg over the bike

Even though Deegan has scored more points than RJ thus far? They both have a moto win.

Since Cooper is out due to a wedding, so far Deegan has shown more speed than RJ.

I like RJ too if he proves he isn't going to crash is brains out.

He's always had speed outdoors but crashes consistently.

It’s too soon for me to trust that the kid won’t implode when the pressure of his whole country is on his shoulders. Especially being in MX2 which has the result that holds the most importance. I have no doubt that at some point he will be the guy for it. In my opinion we should send the more experienced rider if we have a choice.

With no Eli and Chase, we do not have a chance anyways. Send the kid

It seems like it's gonna be between him and RJ. The only think against Deegan is the pressure. MXoN at French venues are absolutely mental. But even then, the guy is definitely good enough to be on the team.

By then he'll be a seasoned veteran so give him a shot.

Pay his dues? Team USA can't even get the champs to commit. People that have overpaid their dues. Are you new here or something?

The kid doesn't appear to have any fucks to give. I think he would feed off the energy. He's full of youthful enthusiasm. Maybe we need that instead of some guys that may not even be our first choices.

Deegan has shown way more consistency as well.

Anderson and Barcia are coming back.

Put BamBam on a 250.

Rj definitely has more raw speed , would be good to see either one of them mix it with the euros , deegan would obviously bring a shit ton of hype which can work for or against 👍

Barcia rode the 250 last year and decided it wasn't a good plan and he wouldn't be competitive.

I already brought this up for discussion a couple weeks ago.

No matter what Deegan 100% charges hard and never gives up the charge and he races smart. If there is Any opening for a pass he takes it without hesitation. With the MXoN using team points 1 pass can win the event.
