Stewart was great. Actually analyzes stuff unlike RC. He will get better.

You said you’d rather hear ''Will Christian blather on"  until James goes to school to  "continue he education path toward better speaking"  like RC did ?  Maybe you should go with him, they might offer a class on sentence structure and proofreading as well.Tongue

I guess I'm unsophisticated, I love James in the booth, he's my favoritest guy they've had yet. Laughing  LaughingLaughing

Perfect example of bitching just to bitch about something.

I am watching the Indy 500 right now and a car just made a pass with all 4 tires in the grass and the announcer said …. it was the worlds fastest lawnmower!

BTW the announcer is the guy that also does SX

Id rather listen to him than Ozzy Man Reviews or many of the others they stick in the booth.

Js is ok. Rc is ok when he doesn't get overly excited. I think they were both much better as 3rd person guests? Like JS bantering with Rc during sx etc. He did really well last year outdoors though? He seemed more relaxed and natural? Not trying so hard. Now he's trying to talk fast and seems to be trying to bring in his podcast persona into it? Weird jokes etc?I'm guessing it ain't easy? Emig on the gypsy podcast explained how it's difficult because you're trying to be analytical while bondo or someone is in your ear at same time. Must be a big distraction?

I personally liked GL the best.

This is just nuts.

IMO the best pairing we could hope for broadcasting the outdoor season,  and people bitch about James Stewart.

Unfrikkinbelievable.

Though I do admit that, it got a bit old him constantly saying what chase needed to do in the next few laps, over and over again.

When he, and everyone else could see, Jett was deliberately riding just fast enough to keep chase at bay.

(But we all know he can't come right out and say it)

I think he will polish the details. I would like what GL did, basically be the guy on the bike. He would call shift’s ,throttle, braking etc. through the riders eyes. he was awesome. I also agree when james doesnt try to be too slang or hip hes doing well. Weege is the top guy for that spot. Jt was great.continue with The mechanical bike side set up stuff he will be dialed in.

just like all the awesome riding james did . You work on the details. The letter x is in many words he uses but does not pronounce. Frustrated is spoken with the “r”. Easy fixes. Lets go bubba💪

Yup. Stew wasn’t as good as he normally is yesterday but not everyone is going to be 100% all the time. The dude is still good, on there.

Some people are just prejudice pricks. Stew is from the south. We have accents and dilics. Nothing we can can do about it.

Seriously dude, you're going to interject that bigotry crap into this conversation  ??

And BTW it's, dialect.

for the record, I enjoy James’ loose interpretation of English. I am surprised by that, but it’s dirt bike racing, not golf.

I agree, Emig is by far better than James and Ricky. I'll take James over Ricky's babbling bullshit any day though.

James was/is brilliant at commentating IMHO.

If you're worried about missing words or mistakes in a live commentary you need to get a life.  It's too short to lose sleep bitching all the time.

Best thing about JS7 in the booth for me is the energy he brings.  And a lot of his technical commentary is actually pretty decent.

On a side note...has there ever been anyone in the booth EVER that hasn't been bitched about on this forum?  My point is, it's a worthless topic...Vital has such a vast member base that somehow, somewhere someone is gonna bitch about someone in the booth.  Its a moot point.

You’re the type of dude who doesn’t like Romo in the booth for NFL games too I bet.

I can't think of another commentator that would watch a crash and be able to say something like   'his left leg opened up and and he started holding onto the bike with his arms and the handle bars instead of his legs."  That is deep into technique.   Leave him alone, it is a fascinating perspective.

I thought he was great yesterday. I really liked his break down of the little thing s that he thinks is happening to chase for all the falls. Everyone else has stamped chase with the most perfect technique ever. And I would have been one . But for him to point out these little things he is doing wrong was really cool imo

I never understood the dislike for the announcing ,we're dirtbike fans watching a race ,what are they really going to say that we don't already know for the most part.

Just so we're clear ..  you've got James f-ing Stewart in the booth for a live televised Pro Motocross race & you're bitching about it because of the vocabulary used to get a point across ?        Very well then buckaroo.

Personally, I like it when RC makes up new, never-before-heard words & if James contributes to that tradition I'll like that too, maybe one day RC or James will come up with something that tops ; 'outstandable'.

James and Weege are great. How nice was it to have JT trackside interviewing people down on the track and in the pits like a trackside reporter should do.

some of you will complain about anything just for the sake of complaining! JS does great and is a natural in the booth… i’m always impressed even with some of his misspoken words.

See didn't take long did it, all love when it first happened then you start catching on to his go to sayings then you start hating just like every single commentator in this sport.

I don't know James' education background regardless it's pretty clear he's feeling the affects of taking those hits to the head.

Bit biased as he was my hero growing up but he's doing great, he has a good non abrasive voice and if you clean up his vocab in your head what he's trying to say makes sense for the most part, one of the better ex-rider commentators.

Let James comment.

He's great IMO.

I’m greedy. I would much rather hear a guy who has keen understanding and insight who is a professional and articulate speaker as well. Does such a unicorn exist?

I agree that given the proper motivation, James has the potential to be that person. It would be great for our sport.

That unicorn does indeed exist. His name is Daniel Blair, and he just retired.

I'm happy to overlook some grammatically incorrect speech if what is being said is insightful, interesting, and engaging. His observations on Sexton's body language, for example, pointed out things to me that my comparatively untrained eye wouldn't notice. At least he's not repeating ad nauseum phrases like "learning lesson" and "hitting his marks".

Yes - this! In supercross at Daytona I had to rewind to catch what JS sees in real time.

James has a gift-and that was riding a dirtbike, sure he worked hard to sharpen that gift, but, he was born to ride faster than anyone on the planet and do it with style. As for communications, speaking, big words? that can be learned...a few sessions with a communications for media specialists and he will be gold. He observes and reports things us mere mortals don't see.

To top it off, i've been parked along side many a truck at the moto track and the dialogue from riders and their horrible butchering of the english language is a point to justify that the audience probably isn't all scholars.

So, I applaud James, it takes courage to speak in front of millions and commentate on a race, he is getting better and knows some thangs.

I honestly don't care about any grammar mistakes he makes, because he stays calm, has a good delivery, and is very insightful. That really was the first race where I actually listened to what they had to say, and I plan on listening to them all season. Rather than the nonsense that comes out of other people that have had that same job.

100%, RC just yells and doesn't analyze any of the must situations.

I loved it with these 3. Stewart may not be the most well spoken but what do you expect? I don’t care if he’s grammatically correct I like to hear one of the best ever to do it talk casually with weege during the races. His insight is unreal. To be honest, I don’t even want him to get more “polished.”

im bummed that I was never a bubba fan when he was a racer bc he always smoked who I was cheering for. But since retirement I did a 180 on him and he’s good for the sport

Haha beat me to it with the grammar stuff. I should have read the comments before posting

I know I didn't do the best with the grammar in school. So I barely noticed it. I thought he had lost his mind when he mentioned Dungey racing last year, I was like, "What the hell is he talking about?" That I realized Dungy was out there last year
