Bryan, I'm waiting with bated breath to see how your day at Barona went. That's my home track; I had my first race there, way back in 1985. I know the dirt there as well as anyone on the planet and I'll enjoy a little more insight than many others on here. Advantage: Falcon.

One thing you mentioned in the video about the phone was the ownership transfer. It got me to thinking: did you have to register this bike with the DMV? Because if not, that's another HUGE benefit to ownership here in CA. No combustion engine, so... 🤔

What bike are you comparing the Varg to ?  To say the Varg is not the best , You have to have something that You are comparing it to . A specific model .  Since you feel so strongly that the Varg will not outperform it. You have to have  an opinion of what is the best Motocross bike that can be bought now.

With most higher performance vehicles having a shorter range and getting worse MPG's I just do not see how  range or refueling times are considered a performance element.

What sucks the most with motocross? At least for me, the oil, airfilters and top end work (or paying for someone to do it, but haven't done it). Not sure I like the sound, but this is the future and it will be my future too. I will not miss a greasy garage.

I just want to put something into perspective.

ICE

Oil change - 30min @10-15hrs

Air filter - 1hr @ when dirty

Top end 3-5hrs @ 50-200hrs

Ready - Instantly

Varg

Charge time 1-2 hrs for 6hrs of ride time.@ 200hrs with a constant 6hr 200/6 cycle you would have 33.3 cycles on your pack.

Thats 33-66hrs you would have spent charging you varg to get 200hrs of ride time.

Whether you want to "wrench" or "wait" the time invested. This is not a dig at either platform, just a shitty comparison.

Just charge it while you sleep lol bro this is a terrible take

Stark/Wass have repeatedly said their bike is the best MXer ever made. It's not me claiming that.

Doesn't it then have be held to Pro MX and MXGP standards?

Taking several hours to refuel when IC machines take a few seconds seems at odds with that.

At the highest level there is a bare hour between motos and I'm fairly sure you dont pressure wash and repair a dirty Stark while it's charging.

Stark is claiming it is the best. but YOU are claiming it is not the best. So what bike is  the best performing bike.  No bike is ever going to be perfect.  So even the best motocross bike will have its flaws. But it would still be the best bike.

In Pro racing there are 250f engines that need to be swapped out between motos. Call me crazy but a team running Vargs would swap batteries.  If the bike is faster lap time wise, better jumping, etc. A team would put up with the need to swap a battery  just like they swap engines . Yes it would be expensive, But would probably be less than the cost of an extra built engine and the parts that go into those engines on a weekly basis. The race engines alone can cost more than an entire Varg.

In AM racing just charge the battery and chances are most people would only need to top it off and not be charging from 0% every time.

 Thanks for the videos Brian.

So, the bike can not be ridden without the phone, an anti theft device, if you will.

Can it be charged without the phone attached?

Then again when the phone fails, youre left high and dry. I wonder what the cost of a spare phone is?

I think someone addressed that question a while back, it will operate without the phone, just no display obviously.

Doesn’t every manufacturer claim their new models are the best ever?

Can you give some examples of where Stark has “repeatedly” said this?  I’m maybe not as well informed and well read as you but I don’t recall them just touting that claim over and over

By the time there is allowance for these things to race at any pro level, battery technology will have changed significantly.

Plus, Honda will have to approve the inclusion of these bikes in any pro racing. And that’s not gonna happen until Honda has a bike that can compete with it. By that time, it’s too uncertain to tell what type of bikes might be racing.

I've only heard  Anton say on that first interview that they set out to build the best motocross bike. And make it electric. And that he thinks everybody will be happy with what they came out with.  That is how I remember him saying it. I'll go back and listen to it again.

But in the newest interview he did  on Gypsytales he was  talking about some improvements and options they will offer in the future. Not saying anything specific , just saying that they have some stuff going on. Hinted that having everything that is steel be Titainanium as an option at some point. And doing something like MTB's where you have a base model and so on. Maybe I've heard other people say it so many times that I just do not hear it anymore.

I personally think there is a big upside for electric powered MX bikes and performance vehicles that do not need a long range. Maybe the Varg will be the one that starts things off on a rapid change. Or maybe not.

I think what Wass means is “…it’s the best (E)MX bike in the world…”

Not sure why this is a debate. Who cares? Everyone knows what the bike is and how it performs.

When I was a kid (70s) a new “brochure” for the Yz 80 was all I needed.
It simple said and showed it was the best.

Now we have clowns on this site trying to argue a quote from a manufacturer that they build the best MX bike ever.

A clown without makeup is still a clown.

Actually we don’t really know how it performs yet.

Hey #1 has arrived!!!!!  Congratulations #1 customer.  Does anyone have info on who #2 was?  How many made it to US shores?

I am actually pretty impressed with how fast my wife’s Tesla charges, I was expecting it to be more on the order of an hour but on the road at the super chargers it’s more 20 minutes.

Well, not entirely but we’ve seen umpteen videos saying it performs really well. Even so, arguing over it being the best MX bike ever is a little far fetched. I don’t care. If they want to call it that then go for it.

I mean, realistically isn’t his claim that the Stark isn’t the best bike pretty much just as valid or even invalid as Stark claiming it is the best bike?

It may be the best amateur motocross bike on the market, tunable for beginners to A grade riders.

It is not the best Pro motocross bike on the market, it cannot compete in AMA Pro Supercross or Motocross, and will not be allowed to compete until current manufacturers have comparable products.

There will be a lot of push back from existing manufacturers, defending their market.

Very cool Bryan! I’m really curious to know what a Factory Kawasaki mechanic thought about the overall build of the bike. Can you share a few tidbits? Definitely looking forward to hear how the first ride at home went! 👍

Gotta hand it to Stark - they made it work and produced a very impressive machine. Shame Alta couldn’t stay afloat but that’s business. It ain’t a guarantee for anyone, especially when forging new paths. My attitude about electric propulsion has completely changed in recent years. It’s not going away. Embrace the change. At the very least, this affords motocross a future that environmental libtards can’t touch.
