I agree 100% with this, however I think Blair is outstanding trackside. So I prefer him on the floor, Diffey RC and Stew in the booth.
ML can you elaborate on the roles in the announcing booth? I believe (but am not sure) that the Ricky and/or James role is different than the Blair / Diffey / Harris.
More in the context of what are supposed to do/not do and which lanes they are supposed to stay in during the broadcast.
Blair / Diffey / Harris are not champions/experts like Ricky or James, but I understand the expert commentator is not supposed to go into the Blair / Diffey / Harris lane of responsibility.
I 2nd the motion on Ashley Reynard. She blew Will out of the water.
Langston is a good choice too.
I'd also like to throw Uncle Jim (Holley) into the mix.
Never got what you all see in Blair. He's terrible to me...

Blair, Weege and Stew. Rotate any 2 man combination using those 3 guys and bring them all in for big races.. A1, Daytona, E/W Shootouts, etc.
Blair, Weege, Stew any of those but I think there still needs to be someone to create excitement with non-hardcore fans like Diffey or a similar personality if the sport is going to grow to reach more people.
Weege, Rc and Stew. Blair on the ground with Hayley.
Ricky likes not having to talk. James loves to talk. Jason is the heir apparent.
You would not hear me complain about it.
I think this would be my choice amongst all the people who are currently drawing checks from NBC.
A presenter is needed, & then an ex racer or two. Being the greatest doesn’t necessarily mean being a good analyst
I'd like Weege become the primary host for all american mx\sx.. Would also like to see Langston get back involved from time to time.
You need someone there with a "voice", so to speak, to carry the broadcast. That's why I voted for Diffey, RC and Stew. Obviously Daniel is great, but he's great at what he does, which is giving us good insight from the track.
Another, just me, (unpopular) opinion…but I’m ready to stop trying to cater TV broadcast of the sport to new viewers…trying to dumb the sport down to help them understand is literally ripping the beauty out of the sport and makes it look unprofessional.
let’s change the broadcast and pick announcers who will appeal to the core demographic…Im tired of the stupidity (so new viewers will understand), for the sake of “growing the sport” (which won’t benefit me in any way at all).
Anybody but Todd, Diffey, or RC. There should NEVER be NASCAR or the NFL mentioned during a Supercross broadcast. If I hear one more time about Deegan's age, I will mute until he's 20.
I’m cool with Weege, RC & damn sure cool with Stewart. Blair is good on the floor, but he doesn’t have what it takes to be in the box as (God forbid) “Lead Guy”.
So…Weege in the saddle, Stew & RC for commentary.
Weigant, fro, Carmichael, Stew any combination
DB and Weege
I don't really care as long as Stew and RC cut back on saying "To your point...." I'm starting to believe there is some sort of phrase competition. Sort of like how many times can you say "meow". If we made a drinking game out of hearing "To your point" I'd be unconscious before the 450 main.
I'm fine with Diffey, Ricky, and James. Ricky is one lined and says the same things every race, and during each race. But I like him. James is fairly new to us, and he likes to talk. But he talks about whats happening in the race, adding his perspective and insight from experience. I love it. It's natural to him. I really liked Langston. I don't like Blair in the booth at all. He adds no excitement to the event. He is too bland. Remember, this is on TV. He is good on the track for reporting, but doesn't have it in the booth. As for the female track reporters, I like them both. Ashley and Will are both pretty. Ashley knows more, but I like Wills accent. I'm good.
Pit Row
I personally believe Weigandt is the best pure communicator in our sport, so I would love to have him as the play-by-play announcer like he is in Motocross. I also like Blair, and while he may not have the same credentials as a racer as Carmichael or Stew, he was still a racer nonetheless and does a good job of explaining what goes through riders' minds, so I would like him as the "color" commentator.
Nathan Ramsey
Nick wey
James Stewart
Blair, Diffey and Stew. How about McGrath? RC was a great racer but not great in the booth. Zack Osborne was the worst.
It doesn't matter who's in the booth they ain't gonna call the race. It's all about hyping story lines and sponsors, talking about anything other than what's happening on track. I'm being told the same things about the riders, teams and rules every week. Employing people that can't even pronounce words properly, missing names, words and letter. Also mid moto interviews should be heard and not seen and way to much fantasy talk. At the end of the day the race isn't instresting enough for them, in other motorsports the commentators are excited with the race.
AC9, Stewart and Weigandt.
Would be an absolutely legendary trio.
Steve Matthes and David Vuillemin. That would be awesome!
How about this? If you can't pronounce "Husqvarna" you can't announce. (It is a 3 syllable word BTW) Diffey knows how to say it but RC just can't get it right.
as an aussie I got used to leigh's motorsport commentary so quite happy when he's in the booth.......
for color commentating Bailey was probably the best i've heard, BUT ricky and bubbles are doin are a good job....imho
BuBba's seems to provide a slightly different insight to RC........all good
"BuBba's seems to provide a slightly different insight to RC........all good"
That's easy.
RC adds nothing to the broadcast.
I agree, I think Jim Holley is the best. I really miss him.
For the last 15 rounds this year and for many years prior, it has been a pleasure to watch some of the best booth work and SX program ever put together. Unfortunately it is on Raceday Live and not the actual broadcast.
How else we gonna know if a rider has long legs tho?
yes Mav agree to a point he has dropped off a little this season(?). but champs always comeback!
his podcast with RV is actually pretty good!
