Anyone else hoping to hear Ken thank Pingree for the YZ250 every time he was interviewed in East Rutherford? Thought he might slip a cheeky comment...

At his core Ping is a good dude but man he has gone off the deep end in a lot of ways.

Stop. A good dude is a good dude...so sick of people making excuses for when people do consistent dumb shit.

I can't argue with you on that, I guess my point of view is my personal interactions with Ping have always been a COMPLETELY different thing than his recent public persona would suggest. That's all.

You're not wrong.

In the past I watched all sorts of Ping content online and read his articles. I enjoyed it all and respected his opinion. Fast forward to today and I skip anything with his name attached. I would even switch brands if I found a manufacturer I use supporting him. That sentiment is 100% due to his political beliefs and how he derides anyone who thinks differently.

Have you checked out Matthes? He's as political as they come. I think it sucks that these guys think a moto platform is a good place to argue with people about politics. Matthes thinks anybody that doesn't agree with him is an idiot. It makes me less of a fan, tbh.

Ping is an asshole, end of story. I listen to some of his stuff and he truly acts as if his beliefs on anything, political or moto related, are the only way to think and everyone else are dumbasses. I’ve listened to Steve for 15 years and him and JT could not have any more different political views or moto views and they are still buddies, that’s because some of it is Steve putting on a show and messing around. Ping is just a dick.

I'm definitely not on the same side of the aisle as Matthes is, but if you think he's as political as they come....maybe YOU'RE the super political one.

He shares some opinions on the rare occasion but if what he shares offends you that much....lighten up.

Eh, I don't like to look at it that way, it's all shades of grey. I've known a lot of people who are very kind in some ways, and have major faults in other areas, its a mixed bag and a fine balance. Then some people just have zero redeeming qualities whatsoever. I prefer to celebrate any good deed by anybody, and make note of anything that isn't so great, rather than completely write someone off and lose any redeeming quality they might have.

Yah Matthes on the very rare occasion has spoke a little on politics. I've listened to just about everything he has done over the years. And  I can think of 3 or 4 times that he brought up politics.  And I think most of the times he has said anything about politics it was related to something in the industry.

I prefer to leave politics out of Moto and out of 99% of my conversations . I wish that more people would judge others based on how they treat others and their personal interactions , rather than if somebody shares the same political views. Look at all the different types of people who are friends because of Moto. Because we all like 1 thing. Yet  so many people are divided because of 1 thing.

It would have been funny if he said " I can't thank Ping for the use of the bike for straight Rhythm" . It would be the first time that a rider said that , and it was what the rider really meant.

…politics of any kind should not be discussed when it comes to motocross and supercross.

I try to use dirt bikes as an escape from that stuff, I don’t need to hear anyone’s opinion on culture wars one  way or the other when talking about Moto…

you don’t see or hear hosts of major sports shows discussing these issues when they talk about baseball or football.

just stop.

You can't be serious? Politics is WAY more prevalent in mainstream sports than it is in moto.

i feel like i've followed the sport pretty closely for the past 20 years and i have no idea about the history here. Can someone help?

Why is Ping seen as so divisive?

Why is ML512 chiming in with negative comments?

what are his insane political beliefs and why are they triggering so many of you?

......please and thank you to help me catch up with the drama.

um what? Phil Jackson just did an interview and said he won't even watch the NBA anymore cause of the politics. NBA/NFL is cancerous with political nonsense.

I don't know the details but in the last 5 years Ping has worked for RacerX, Vital, and I think MXA and burned bridges at at least 2 of those places. I'm sure ML has his reasons he experienced first hand for being snarky.

I don’t think his beliefs are “insane.” I know Covid was a wedge that divided people and Ping was very much anti vaccination. So much so that im pretty sure he was willing to get fired if his department mandated a vaccine.

He was pretty opinionated on the matter and I think it just depends which end of the political spectrum you are on will dictate whether or not he was so divisive. That being said, he could have been more diplomatic about it.

as far as the roczen thing, im sure Ping can be abrasive but why not just give the guy a shout out and say thanks for the bike?

It goes so far beyond that. He isn't just anti-vaccine. That isn't even putting it lightly... Lot's of people are anti-vax now, who gives a shit. If that's all it was this thread wouldn't be this big... or the last one where he said/did something weird... or the one before that.

I'm not going to say anything else because really it's all so tiresome at this point. Incidents like this don't surprise me and are just a reminder he is still "struggling" as a human being.

People used to be able to listen to someone without looking for something to be offended by.       People lose their shit these days if someone doesn't completely align with their views.      Just look at the irrational responses in this thread as proof.

That's because you're a liberal (as are most of the other posters complaining about Ping) and everything is political for liberals. Regardless, when Kenny accepted the offer to ride the bike he really was under a moral obligation to thank Ping or Whisky throttle. Didn't this take place after World supercross?

Pretty sure Ping has never worked for MXA. And I think he said he left Racer X because they needed someone who could test and do content full time like Keefer.

I have to say this thread is sad and petty. GuyB would've flushed this turd six pages ago. So much hate towards an individual I'm sure most of you guys have never even met in person. If you don't like Ping, don't follow him. Simple as that.

Wrong. I'm not what you are saying he is, and I'm "complaining" about Ping. Just because I may align with him on some issues doesn't mean I endorse his delivery, and I sure as hell don't endorse his complete dismissal of anything or anyone who doesn't agree with his VERY PUBLIC opinion.

Your completely tone-deaf response shows you're the same as Ping. And by that I'm not being political at all, I'm just saying as a human being you apparently don't have the ability to see anything from any perspective other than your narrow one. Right or left doesn't change anything.

Hannah goes: "I'm surprised he didn't win with all those parts on there."

GL: "Well, they don't build 'em like they use to. Riders that is"

Ping: "He's German, you know? He's practically a nazi. How's he gonna win?"

Ping called ML the "Lord of the idiots" lol. He is so petty and acts like a child.

Kenny didn't thank Ping so he is so petty he twisted a story on Kenny that made it sound like he was doping. Left tons of context out to make it fit his agenda. Look at his history with other companies he has worked for in the industry. There must be something wrong with the companies and it's definitely not Ping being the issue.

I will say his long form podcasts are generally good. So I will give him some credit there.

So what.    It's a 1st amendment right.   Well, at least while we still have it.    Also, don't forget how Twitter shut down any content they didn't like until Musk took over.        Censorship of any kind by any side is very very bad.    Group think, very very bad.

If someone is so offended by Ping/Matthes comments, why are they reading them?

To be 100% factual Musk has actually banned plenty of accounts since taking over Twitter. He actually banned quite a few Journalists that shared private information about Elon's location. He also banned that Elonsjet account which tracked his private jet for years even though he said he wouldn't do it when he bought Twitter. So he is censoring some things that are directly related to him and says it has to do with safety.

I have no strong feelings towards Musk either just making sure you state all the facts is all.
