I know there have been comments about teams using oil they are not sponsored by, and you can tell because of the color. Is this Maxima or Motul?

I’m not asking for opinions. I’m asking for facts about what teams run. I see in another thread that ML said it’s typically Motul. Anyone know what version?

In my experience it varies by mechanic preference, and, very rarely, by rider preference.

I don't know that there is a universally preferred oil across teams.

Wait.... I thought everybody knew that the best oil for bikes is a CK-4 certified diesel oil with "enhanced level of protection against the effects of soot, dirt and other contaminants in heavy duty diesel engines"  And as a bonus you get "Advanced low-ash formulation helps control blocking of or poisoning of exhaust after-treatment devices, helping maintain vehicle emission compliance and diesel engine fuel efficiency".  Why would teams use anything other than Rotella T6 based on the benefits it provides???

Have no clue as to the answer but I was under the impression Motul 300V was rated higher than the 7100?  I'm sure both are fine oils.

Ok…so…WTF is Tyranny Oil? Is it a special oil you put in a 490 Mega 2 to wreak total havoc on the competition?

Last year the SGB Team did a Semi walk through video.  They were sponsored by Blud I believe.  Dude opens one of the cabinet doors and about 6 cases of Maxima were sitting there.

Motul 7100 is the red stuff. 300v is kind of a neon green. If someone says they run Motul and you see the color, that should give it away.

I'd suspect, if you don't actually see it, the Motul the teams run is 7100. 300v is short life oil for really high-strung street bikes running up to 15k rpms.

Are we implying that Honda doesn’t actually run Honda oil? Laughing

300V is what most motul teams run and some non-motul teams…

Thank you! Any idea if they (Honda mostly) do 5w30 or 10w40?

Tranny oil.......can we say this?? Grinning

Motul 7100? who carries this?

Some folks really  love their Amsoil.

Maxima makes great products as does bel-ray.

I will guess the most overlooked and easiest way to guarantee good oil is to change it early and often.

Some use blenzal still, some still use that odd shaped Golden Spectro bottle......it looks like a jar of honey.

Who said something about another oil thread.......

Unless things have changed recently, If they are it is Citgo and Esso in the European market.

Yamalube 2 is Citgo Sea and Snow and Citgos retail brand Mystik.
