Oh the irony of Jett being mad at someone cross jumping.

Why is nobody in this thread acknowledging Jett immediately retracting his initial statement the moment he was shown the replay?

The initial angle we saw was Thrasher hugging the left tuff blocks and then crossing over to the right tuff blocks over the jump while Hunter was trying to make a pass. This would be textbook cross jumping of trying to defend your position. The replay shows he clearly made a mistake/was kicked on the face of the jump and was looking over his shoulder to see if someone was on the inside line where was flying into.

When Jett saw this, he instantly said his initial response was incorrect and even said that Hunter ultimately should’ve been more patient and was an “idiot”. Jett isn’t a broadcaster and is just riffing on what he sees the moment it happens. I personally thought his commentary was fun but of course the fun police on this forum are quick to say “having Jett in the booth was a mistake”.

Well said.

Honestly looks like thrasher got sketchy and did a g out on the face of the jump. Regardless do you think Hunter would race with a torn ACL? 🤣🤷🏼‍♂️

I think Thrasher is right with him with raw speed. Hunter only has 3-4 more SX wins over him.

As the father of two teens I'm surprised and impressed that (1) he recognized he was wrong and (2) he admitted it publicly. Doesn't happen often. lol

Paging Austin Forkner.....

I thought it was Forkner who crossed over when they both went down, was it Jett?

I did not down vote you but I want to hear about intent...

In my view, both incidents were mistakes and not dirty moves. Jett even said after re-watching that he thought Thrasher just made a mistake. Jett's was obviously a mistake when he clipped the tough block.

It doesn't mean it wasn't their fault.

He did come across bad. But he's a 19-year-old kid commenting on his older brothers race in a live broadcast. Nerves and loyalty all combing for a ill-advised comment. But my goodness give the young guy a break. He apologized right away when he saw the replay and owned it. No harm no foul. To me he also showed respect when he commented on other riders and going into the 450 class.

Kinda disrespectful to an all time great to say a 250 guy has him covered.

i predict his comments won't age well with other riders for quite some time.  It's like his Whackers comment on McAdoo.  I like Jett, but he needs to learn when to shut up and not say something.  He's a teenager, I can forgive him for it.  If I'm Thrasher, I'm motivated more than ever.

Lol at all the Jett nuthuggers thinking him winning a moto at the MXDN while guys were riding conservative to win the overall makes him a threat. Jett is going to get son'd by Eli and Chase in the outdoors. Let's make a bet.

I reckon if Jett completes the season and doesn’t crash out, he at least wins a moto.

Who thinks Jett is going to win everything moving forward?

And comparing Anstie and Coldenhoff to Jett is just dumb.

I'd love to see you clip a tough block while hitting a finish line and staying straight.

my superior technique would ensure I would never have hit the tough block, thus granting me the privilege to be at the front.

Love Jett but if you’re in the booth you’ve got to show some restraint. Thrashers move was fine. Everyone was jumping to the right to setup the turn.

Ya, he did correct himself on the Thrasher/Hunter deal, but also went on to say that guys in the class are sketchy/don’t have the skill and can only trust being around his brother.

So it was more like “That was a cross jump bad on Thrasher” to “that was just a mistake, my bad” back to “guys in this class are sketchy and don’t have the right skill so I can only trust being around my brother.” That’s where the issue is.

If you think it’s unreasonable for a teenager who just got out of puberty to make negative comments after seeing his brother get taken out a split second after only seeing one camera angle then you must have never been a kid or have kids. That’s perfectly reasonable. That was FAR from talking sh*t.

BUT as soon as the other camera angles were shown he retracted his statement. Made the correct judgement call and apologized for his bad take and further said Hunter shouldn’t have been there and should’ve waited to get close and make a pass elsewhere. He partially blamed his brother for bad decisions.

Some of your guys’ bias is showing.

He's got a point.

Hunter has been crossed, hard, twice, by Nate and was taken out and hurt by Stilez last OD

Jett was crossed by Jalek and by Mosiman, each time when legit passing.

I can understand the sensitivity.

Thrasher seemed intentional to block the line. Super dangerous. Jett made a huge mistake on the face and it sent him sideways. Completely different. But same result I guess for the receiving rider.

IMO Hunter should've waited for the turn after the whoops to try a pass. Pushing the issue in the exact spot that Tomac slid out was a rook move. Who cares though, nobody got hurt and it makes it more interesting for us fans.

With the way Thrasher has been racing all season, does anyone actually think he wouldn't intentionally cross jump Hunter? He's been pulling Barcia moves at every race.

It was intentional for sure. Jett just caught himself and covered for himself to save the PR and homerism. But he was right the first time. Honestly wouldn’t surprise me if RC gave him a slight nudge in the booth as a sign to correct himself. The “mistake” they claimed Thrasher made after was not a mistake that sent him completely to the other side. It was just a way to cover Jett’s emotions and then blame Hunter for … I guess making a pass? It was a clear cross jump. Dangerous. Glad Hunter is okay.

Well some dude about 5 comments up thinks he has Eli covered because of one Moto at the MXDN....so there's that...you're right about my comparison those guys won both of their motos at the MXDN....

Hey I'll admit that in the moment I thought "damn dude you're one to talk" but then I took a moment to realize he's watching his brother and had an instinctual response which he quickly took back.  I would have reacted the same way if I was just watching the race with some buddies. No big deal.  I'm certainly no Jett fan boi I'm actually a huge PC guy so Forkner getting injured really pissed me off but his comments were nothing more than dudes just bullshitting during a race.   Remember he's a racer...not an announcer.

Then he should stick to racing.

I get the whole "he's a teenager, give him a break" argument. But if he and the producers of this sport are going to give him so much exposure, then he's 100% fair game for criticism for how he carries himself. There were a lot of people getting on Forkner for being "cocky" when he was 18, 19 years old, so I don't think it's a big deal for fans to talk negatively about what an 18 year old Jett is saying. And yeah, he did go on to say that the other riders in the 250 class are out of control. Seems to me he should've already moved up to the 450 class. Both Lawrences seem to get very flustered when other riders race them hard. Hell, Hunter made a comment on the star riders in the first turn of Main #3 as if it was their fault that he went down. I see both of them getting very overly frustrated when they're gonna have to deal with guys like Tomac, Sexton, Webb, and not to mention Anderson and Barcian every week.

so the same forum that whines about vanilla press coverage and total lack of getting any insider scoop is now upset because a teenage kid popped off while in the booth?

the same forum that wants more emotions and complains about robot like formula answers while being interviewed on the podium, is complaining about a legit emotion based response to a racing incident in real time?

make up your mind morans.

Yah I was thinking this same thing, also funny how so many ignored him taking it back after seeing another angle.

I was thinking that they put him in the booth hoping he would talk shit on his brother, and get some kind of hot take.  Remember back when he ate the donuts at Monster Cup and was saying that Hunter was his Sister?  I was looking forward to him being a kid , and ragging on his brother like brothers do.

He might have said other riders were sketchy , but I think it was more that he trusted his brother not to take them both out, and he doesn't trust other riders not to take him out. He knows he and his brother are not going to take eachother out. And he just lacks the same level of trust for other riders.  But he said it like a teenager . I'm sure anybody who races  has the guys they feel safer around and the guys they worry about getting taken out by.  Saying they lacked the skill might have been a bit ignorant. But really Jett has amazing skill at putting his bike right where he wants it so much of the time. It did sound cocky, but it also sounded honest and confident .  Think about being a 18 year old kid , in his place. It would be hard not to get a bit of a big head. And he's a kid, he could have been joking around a bit too.

I really liked his hot takes. Him talking about looking forward to battling Eli.  Calling his brother an idiot , I really thought there would be more of that . It had more of the feeling of sitting in the stands with racing buddies watching a friends moto , but cleaned up a lot for TV. The coming in and commentating on their brothers races   thing is different than if they were just having them in for an interview every race. I think its cool to see them comment live on each others races.  Anytime you can have a well-spoken , funny racer that is willing to say some stuff that might get him raced a little harder makes for entertaining TV . It would be cool to get Phil Nicoletti  to come and comment on a race to two.
