Crashed twice in his qualifier and twice in the lcq, fast as shit,  but horrible race craft.

Kid got a fifth last week. Lighten up. Even Villopoto failed to qualify once.

Roczen, too. Ironically on a KTM in his 250 days.

Some of you guys really have nothing better to do on race night then dig up a year old thread just to shit on a kid when he’s down? Give me a break.

& you don't have anything better to do than bitch about people thinking it's a big deal when a factory rider doesn't make the night show from his own doings? It's worthy to talk about, wasn't good for him and his future certainly seems questionable.

No, I think it’s fucking pathetic that someone is so invested in shitting on someone that they not only remember a thread from a year ago, but go through the effort to dig it up minutes after he doesn’t make the main just to be a dick.  Nobody but a sad POS is that invested in tearing someone down, it’s straight up loser behavior and I’m calling it out, deal with it.

🤦🏻‍♂️

You bring up a year old thread just to do a facepalm emoji after all that effort the kid put in? Did he mess up your fantasy league? Get a hobby dude.

So you think it's not a big deal that a 3rd year factory rider doesn't make the main?

Here's betting Max & KTM think it's a big deal.

It's not about "shitting' on the guy, but it is a pertinent topic of conversation.

100% agree with you. Sure no need to completely rip Vohland to pieces but this is a very harsh professional sport and he is entering his 3rd year as a pro on one of the best possible teams in the pits. Not qualifying is not acceptable, Max and the team probably understands that themselves.

Time for Max to get a job at Acerbis. KTM is just lighting money on fire at this point.

No hate towards Max as a person, but not everyone is cut out for being a factory supercross racer (me included)

Yeah, I was surprised to hear it announced in the A1 broadcast that he or someone in his family (can't remember which) asked that he be referred to as Maximus rather than Max.

He requested that he be referred to as Maximus by all media members.

I wish they wouldn't.

Reminds me of a Nissan cookie cutter 4 door sedan.

I am a fan of Max, but also was bummed at the two unforced errors in the heat and LCQ. The LCQ was especially puzzling; he was in good position and many of the guys that put 1/10 of the amount of laps on a supercross track could navigate that section without crashing. Yeah he was probably freaked out that he was in the LCQ in the first place and putting himself under a lot of pressure.

He's going to get better. The solid fifth he got last weekend is proof that there is something to build on.

Was bummed when he ran off the track.

I thought he was very patient with getting himself into a transfer spot.

The restart first turn crash was as dumb as it gets in his heat.  Bet he wishes he could have that decision making back.

He seems very uncomfortable and almost overwhelmed on a SX track.  I hope he makes it through the series in one piece, that would be huge for him.  He has top 5 potential outdoors.

Agreed. He looked so smooth and patient getting into a transfer spot. Took me by surprise seeing him go off the track.

I do wonder if the extra year in AM’s as an A rider would have helped him mature a bit more. This is his last year on his contract right? I’d like to see him under a different tent, like Star or PC.

Last year of his contract. He needs to put in results.

Agreed.

Seems like the, ever changing KTM,  is not a bike geared towards younger riders.

Something a bit more stable, less finicky,  is what the kid needs.

I am thinking the only thing that will help him is to continue SX and not get hurt. He has a bazillion laps on practice supercross tracks and doing MXGP or other MX only programs won't help him with the rapid decision making needed in supercross.

Otherwise, his next contract might be 'minimus'? Ok, ok,,,, I'm out.

I think the kid will be just fine.  He's only 19.  He'll mature, make better decisions, and hopefully turn things around.

I agree...he'll figure it out. The kid has a ton of pressure on him but has amazing skill and style on the bike.  Definitely needs to learn from these mistakes and refine his racecraft.

Insane to me that a redbull KTM rider can’t make the main.

Max has only completed 5 SX races out of a possible 19 in 3 years. For a guy on a factory team, that's bad.

His results: 9-8-6-22-5-DNQ

He has the skills, he just needs to make better decisions.

Other guys that are around the same age:

Jett Lawrence is 19
Jo Shimoda is 20
Stilez Robertson is 20
Pierce Brown is 20

Wish the best for Max, I hope he's able to turn it around and I think there is still time.

Brain fart... What's that kids name who is from the US but started his pro career in MXGP? Then he returned to the US to race SX and MX and was barely making mains? I think there was a couple he didn't qualify for too. I think his name started with a T and I believe he was factory Husqvarna.
