I don't think he will be onboard KTM next year.

Is he in his 2nd year of his contract? I think I heard on pulp tallon would only let him go pro this early with a 3 year contract.

Yes, he is on a 3 year contract, next year should be the last, however, based on how SX went, and if MX is not up to par, KTM wouldn't hesitate to terminate his contract early, they have done it before (Tickle, different circumstances, but still, they aren't afraid of pulling the trigger).

Yeah about that...

He qualified for his first 3 in 2021. Not sure what's happened since, but he can qualify.

Whats up with KTM/Husky/Gasgas programs in USA? In MXGP those bikes are at front and at Pala all you could see was Honda, Yamaha and Kawasakis on top10. Vohland was leading last year? with old gen bike so are they just off with setup or what. Its not just Vohland that is off its whole group.

Easy on Max , yea he was slow all day No crashes wait till Pala then he will show he’s Talent.
There’s no doubt he’s talented, he’s just not fast enough to carry the flag for a factory team. I have nothing against him. Seems like a nice kid. I hope he proves me wrong in the future.

He’s got the talent, he is just struggling mentally. You can see it by his first races as a pro compared to now. Needs to find a way to have fun and work through the block. Hope he figures it out

I was watching at Pala and thought he rode really good. He was taking this super cool line around the outside while most were going inside and struggling. If he has 3 year contract maybe star or PC grabs him for 24? Maybe he needs a change. There's potential there though and I wouldn't write him off just yet.

Max is really really fun to watch, but he still has some growing up and strengthening to do.

To HubbardMX50s, point above, he has some really creative lines, but I do notice he hasn't found a balance yet between being creative and simply trying to avoid bumps. As RC has said many times, sometimes the fastest line is the roughest line for a reason, and he doesn't look very comfortable when the fast line requires just pounding through the rough stuff.

He's the opposite of a J-Mart back in 2014 and 2015 who would just pound through the same line over and over.

I think MV has a ton of talent, but he still needs a couple more years to find his feet. Someone will scoop him up and be patient enough to reap the rewards around 2024.

I saw him in post race interview and he looked scrawny, like 130 lbs. He looked like he could use a little more upper body strength. Not all boys or young men mature physically at the same pace. Unfortunately the sport won't wait on something like that. He may hit it at 22 but by then could be too late.

He went 12-10 and his fast lap in moto 2 was about the same as Forkners. I don’t get the piling on that’s happening here.

You must have missed the Forkner doesn't deserve his ride thread/s over the off-season. At Vital if you ain't first you're last...

Sometimes guys have good rides and just don't quite make it, these things happen.. Brian gray, shane bess, ben riddle, justin buckelew, matt lalloz, billy payne, jonny marley... its a long list. A few of those names were really, really fast too.

Is 12-10 fitting for a factory ride?? Really???
I guess, what place would you say he needs to get to deserve his ride? If you figure each factory is gonna have at least 2-3 250 riders I would think the top 14-15 spots would be all factory riders.

Has he had one, "holy shit he's fast" ride yet? Teams want that.

Yes. Pala first moto last year, he would've won if the bike didn't blow up. I was there, he was absolutely hauling.

Pala last year, as others have said. Plus KTM brass obviously saw something they like liked to have rushed him up early. It’s not like Max and Talon could make Roger do anything

At the time it seemed like they rushed him because they needed a rider and didn't have any other options.

Can you tell me what non factory riders beat him this weekend? If no privateers are beating you how else would you judge someone bring worth a ride? Or the National he got 4th overall last year?

People are talking as if he didn’t beat 5 other factory riders Saturday?

Yup, but they could have plucked most of these guys trying to get a factory ride off a secondary team or privateer island that are more deserving of the the factory ride than Max but they obviously saw more upside in him.

This is what I have said about some of these young riders as well. I'm a big fan of Carson Mumford but the poor kid looks like he does not have a muscle on his body.
