The most dominant Mx rider is better. What about MC he has the most sx wins and championships. Is he not a goat or is he the indoor goat? I saw Ricky 1st win at Gainsville crazy that he won for so many yrs.

100% agree. However, to say he had no competition can also be viewed as a compliment. To this day, I don't think there is any competition for early and mid-2000's RC. That's not to say that they suck, it simply highlights how outstanding RC was.
On 10/25/22 I had to put my dog down. He was named GOAT after Ricky Carmichael. To me, it’s the greatest name ever.

RC lost only 3 titles out of 15 he entered once he got into the 250 class. '99 SX 16th, '00 SX 5th, '04 SX (didn't race because of ACL surgery)
He won EVERY Championship he entered since 2000 MX until 2006 MX. Not only did he go 24-0 for 2 perfect seasons in '02 & '04. He also had a perfect overall win season in 2005 MX. 3 perfect seasons. NO ONE is ever going to touch those kind of records.
I think to be the Goat you have to have the stats.
Jordan has every stat except longevity and part of that is because he left to play baseball because his dad died.

Ali said he was the goat but his stats aren’t as good as other boxers. I don’t even think Ali is the greatest heavyweight. Joe Louis held the title for 10-15 years or something crazy like that and lost 3 fights. He won like 66 fights with 55 KO’s.
Sugar Ray Robinson is the Goat in my eyes. He went like 49-0 and moved up a weight class and lost and then he went 90-0. He fought like 200 fights and lost when he was well past his prime
First time I ever heard it used was for Ricky, but outside of football and some mma I don't watch many other sports. I've heard it used for Anderson Silva and Fedor Emelianenko but it was years after RC was called that.

I agree with not calling a person who plays a team sport the GOAT, they are still relying on other teammates to win.
But boxing, mma, moto, or any other sport where it all falls on your shoulders and your shoulders alone is where that term could be used. RC is the GOAT.
Brady is only considered the GOAT because the NFL values high scoring. Everytime the guy gets touched he's looking at the ref for a flag, just like LeBron in the boring a$$ NBA. If those 2 played when Jordan and Montana played they would be retired already. Qbs in the 80's and 90's used to get laid out regularly and it was all part of the game. Brady would have never lasted in that era. Why do you think every year now all types of offensive records are being broken?

Team sports require several other guys to get the job done. RC did it all on his own. He didn't have to rely on an offensive line, an rb, Gronk, Edelman, Welker, Vinatieri. Its called Greatest Of All Time., Not greatest in supercross. Carmichael was the greatest all around motocross rider indoors and outdoors. That's why we call MC the King of Supercross. No one is touching 7 SX titles and 72 wins for a very long time. Just like NO ONE is going to win the AMA Motocross Championship every single time they enter a season. He won 8 straight and never lost.. GOAT.
What about Rocky Marciano?
Tortelli was every bit as fast, and I'd even say faster in 2000-01 but he couldn't stay off the ground, and had a few bad luck dnf's from what I remember.

Anybody that wins a championship is number one. Until they can fill a wall with more #1 plates they can't take Ricky's title, whatever that is.
