A friend of a friend worked as a factory mechanic for Team Suzuki. When Damon Huffman moved to 250s (and Kawasaki,) there were some semi-works parts that got shuffled in the mix. Nothing internal or too exotic, but there were lots of footpegs, custom brackets, etc. from the old factory 125s. My friend gave me one of the silencers that had, presumably, been on Damon's works bike or one of the test bikes. It didn't fit my YZ125, so I cut off the silencer at some point along the front, aligned and cut the YZ125 silencer in the same spot, and had the two joined together.
That was a trick silencer! The metal looked like mild steel, but the carbon was pure, weaved fibers. No epoxy at all. You could actually squeeze it and feel the shape deform quite readily. Who knows if it made my bike quicker (probably not,) but it was trick!

Then I looked closer
I made a power valve spacer for my 2001 CR 250.
I used to cut about 2” off of my stock 4 stroke silencers and re rivet the end caps on.
Made the power valve spacer on my current CR125 but most proud of my current tank mount washer. Lol
I got the dimensions for the pipe by measuring each segment of the pipe in a magazine ad, then scaling it up to real world and doing all of the calculations.
I used a Volkswagen bug stinger for the silencer, which is something local racers were also doing.
The pipe fit, but probably did not improve performance. In the end, it was a very cool experience.

I basically modeled it off a normal stand but the sides I rolled just enough to fit a VP gas can so you could flip it over and throw your gas can in it. all said and done it weighed approx. 14 ounces if I remember correctly.
It lived until I quit racing in the late 90's. I could have sold 1000's of those things , it was so cool.
Wired vortex ignition select switch to KTM bar mount switch (hate that giant yellow switch)
3D printed flush mount gas cap for YZ R-tech tank, relocated vent and used P clamp to hold vent line to side of frame instead of through steering stem
I’ve also been designing swingarm extensions for hillclimb bikes for a couple years now, I don’t machine them myself though I just do the CAD work. It’s a little more complex than you’d intuitively think at first glance, mainly because the brake and chain guide need to line up perfectly and also be adjustable for each axle position.
And as a lot of you know I also do all sorts of 3D printed parts through my side business 3DP Moto, like intake scoops, cable guides, swingarm plugs, etc.
I can’t get away from this crap and there’s even more on the horizon
