Maybe I missed something but what's up with Roczen running the wrist braces? Don't usually see top guys wearing those unless they have an injury.
is this a joke?
Uhh, no. He hasn't been running wrist braces for years, so I'm just wondering why he's wearing them now.

Huh, I knew he ran them shortly after the injury but can't say I noticed them since. Wise idea anyway.

You may be onto something. This is what Mathes said:

From https://racerxonline.com/2022/10/07/racerhead-40

"I asked Roczen in the press conference if he could see himself racing this series full-time in 2023 (rumors are eight rounds starting in July), as he seems to have split from Honda, and he said that he could, but other people tell me he'll put together his own effort and be at Anaheim 1. Roczen's racing under the Honda Genuine Honda Racing team, the old Muc-Off Honda team, and he has his factory mechanic Jordan Troxell with him, but he's got zero factory parts on his bike. Yeah, it's weird, I know."

Heard on one of the review podcasts...maybe from Weege...that Kenny and Mitch got along really well at RBSR. Maybe he rides a PC/Kawi 450 and keeps his personal sponsors.

The baggage of running up front all the time, winning races, popular in the pits and social media?

Any new news with where he’ll land for 23? I’d think they are working hard trying to find something now that WSX is over.

Sounds like a Kawi privateer effort.

I doubt PC would field a 450 for him, but they might be open to building the bikes for the right $$$.

For whatever it’s worth -

Mitch and Kenny would be a pretty stellar combo.

Mitch is getting up there in age, and has every title under the sun but a 450 title.

Kenny, while being the enigma that he is, can still win at the drop of a dime.

I’m not saying it will work, I’m not even saying it’s possible, but you give me Mitch and KR under a tent together as a swan song, you’ve got my attention for for all 29 rounds…

He was trying to get his hands on a 23 YZ450F to test last week.

He was trying? Pretty sure that he would get his hands on one in the matter of minutes if he wanted to?

Pretty sure that’s right. I doubt Kenny would have an issue getting anything he wanted. If Chad Reed can do it…

I talked to Lake Hill (owned by Casey Cochran’s grandfather) and that is what he told me. The only bikes received are the ones for the media release and the balance shipping to dealers in November are pre-sold. Rock River also mentioned Ken was looking for one. I’m sure he will find one but as of last week there were none available.

Chad Reed is riding a KTM and they are more readily available. I’m sure Yamaha would provide a loaner for Ken to try but it’s an availability issue.

Thumbing this down for the simple fact that Reed actally talks about how hard it was for him to get the new bike. He was supposed to have it in March but didn't get it till late August or early Sept I believe, then not having parts for it. And I heard he hit up Rock Rover as well. It's where I get my bikes....

From what I’ve heard, he wants to test a Yamaha as well. But sounds like it’s between Yamaha and Kawasaki. Probably do his own program, I don’t think it would be factory for either one. Maybe some back door deal or something, but don’t think it will be in their semi.

On a 450 the main thing that is "factory" is suspension which Ken can easily get. The bikes are so powerful for SX you almost need to de-tune them. It isn't like a 250 where afactory motor is a must.

If Mitch build him a Kawi it will be equal to the factory bikes

Electronics are more important than suspension these days. With enough money you can get 99% of factory suspension, not so much for electronics or some of the one off parts like front brakes etc

"Privateer" effort would be super cool. Assuming they could get the bike how he wants it. If the bike is off we don't get fast Kenny.

Its the only thing that would make sense at this point if he wont drop RedBull. He'd make it work. Being his own boss and riding like a privateer again might do him some good mentally and for his moto soul.

The production rule was put in place to reduce the costs of the one off factory bikes that were being produced and happened because Yamaha threatened to take their toys and go home (because of the 86 Honda works bike)…it really had nothing to do with making it fair to non-factory teams. The main emphasis of the rule was the frame and swing arm had to be production…but still can be modified by adding bracing but you can’t take anything away….
