Don't think it would look like that if it were a MXGP Championship Bike! Grinning (MX2, of-course)

Call me crazy but I don't like how they destroy the machines like this. I don't get why that is exciting for them to do.

Those bikes are a work of art and should be respected as such in my opinion.

The bike is a throw away item at the end of it's service life. If it wasn't on display it'd be heading to the crusher, so I'm fine with a trashed tire.

Right, not sure where people come up with this stuff.
I guess Yamaha crushed the Deegan bike after LL also. Haha. Too soon?

Doing a burnout to celebrate is one thing, but going until the tire or engine blows?
Nah not onboard with disrespecting the amount of work that goes into a bike like that.

Can it be "Disrespecting the amount of work that goes into a bike like that" if the guy doing the burnout is the guy who did the work ? Whistling

Should have gone until the engine blew up as well, proper celebration of a well earned championship.

True and I get the being caught in the moment factor because those moments are hard to come by.

But THE mechanic on big teams doesn’t build all the bike these days, it must be the reason it’s a reasonably new thing? I don’t remember title winners celebrating like that until recently?

Ha I used to chastise riders for even dropping a bike I built. Old school I guess.

What else should they do with it? Race it next year? Give me a break guys, it’s a celebration! They built it they can burn it down if they so choose, what happened to minding your own damn business? 😂

Maybe not crushed but after a year or two they become dust collectors in a random warehouse for most OEM’s.

I see more kids on 50s and 65s doing in the parking lot than ever before. Try to explain to the parents that there might as well be dollar signs flying off of that tire but they don't want to hear it.

The rest of the bikes life is to be on display anyway. Why would it matter if it runs at that point? Some sports fans destroy their whole city when they win a championship. This team damaged their own stuff that they built and paid for. I don't see the problem.

The none championship bikes go to the crusher, the championship Hondas go to their race museum, or used to. Now that Dave is gone what will they do with them? In any case it probably will never have to run again so pretty useless.

When ac won his championship.
They flogged the shit out of the bike.
I seen a Mitch payton interview. He was talking about how he pulled it down and examined the parts to see what was failing and the weak points.
So a stupid thing like this can actually be used to for research purposes to make the bikes stronger.
