Based on these photos on Charlie Burgess Facebook, that smoke was from shock oil hitting the exhaust. That shock either broke or blew. Now, whether the shock issue was caused by clipping the jump so hard and/or massive lack of rebound damping after it broke is what sent him over the bars, that will require some more analysis.

The bike hit pretty hard on the back wheel, upside down. Shock probably pulled apart from that hit.

should have rephrased that differently

he did have a good career but didnt live up to expectations

his crash in 09 where he got ran over seemed to be the start of his decline unfortunately

I was in the tunnel when it happened and caught the end of it. Waited to see if he’d get up or get on the bike. Eventually walked down towards the incident and saw Diffy coming out of the gate. I opened the gate for him and said “tell me you got that on film” he then preceded to show me these on his camera. Crazy

All joking aside, that was a big hit and he took it in stride. The kid has some serious skills and will get it sorted out in time. Honestly, he must have a tonn of pressure on him. Non-stop cameras and attention must eventually weigh heavy on a young kid like that.

In a few Youtube video's every time Deegan gets a new helmet Brian try's to drop it as many due due to superstition. Haiden always says no don't do that and does not do it. Haiden got a new helmet this weekend......maybe its time to do its first drop before the race superstition??

I remember that clip of Dean doing that a few years ago and how sick that was. I actually was thinking back on this because I remember a comment on social media from Brian Deegan about how dangerous this was and how the track crew should have knocked it down. Pretty ironic.

Yeah the issue I have with that is he could have easily broken his neck or collarbone. He is a kid. We will see if he learns from that mistake.

So many jealous old washed up men in here hating on a 16 year old kid who is super talented, tough as nails, and humble. Is it because of his Dad or the social media? Which is a way that alot of younger people make their money? What has he ever done to get shit on by a bunch old guys on a message board? What is even funnier is the ballslurping of AC9 who was known to be a major dickhead until he got humbled in the pros and started doing his Dollar Store Pastrana shtick.
