Yamaha comes out a winner, the kid is happy and the sponsor that cancelled the kid after saying he wouldn't is the bad guy. Well so is MX sports/Tim Cotter/Etc.
Matthes would make a great investigator: gang beats some body up. Victim is lying because everybody in the gang claims it didn’t happen. LOL they can’t all be lying can they? I’m not sure what’s worse that Matthes actually believes that logic or thinks so little of his audience that he thinks they will. You aren’t presenting multiple angles when their interests are fully aligned (including his own). That is basic reporting and journalism.
Matthes seems obsessed with idea that because Yamaha guy doesn’t have the authority to pull dealership that means kid must be lying.
You can threaten to do stuff you don’t have the authority to and or have no intention of following through on.
Matthes solution; raise the price to claim the bike. LOL. Amateur racing problems solved!
Maybe the kid is a liar, but if you’re convinced by Matthes’ arguments I bet you get your driveway sealed every three months.
Having an promoter and Degan in a room berating him is uncalled for and unprofessional.
Popcorn!!

You may wake up with shit in your bed now....
Safe to say he is not a reliable sole source of information.
Steve saying like 4-5 times to the Yamaha guy, "I feel bad you were put in this situation". I wanted to scream! He put hiself in the situation!! He walked over there. No one dragged him.
Things that seem odd to me.
1) Luce - I wanted to go over and ask why. Really??? Why the hell do you think. Who wouldn't want the best bike on the track for like 5-7 years. You have to ask that? I think if was more like I'm going over to put pressure on these guys.
2)Luce - I don't remember if I shook his hand. That is total BS he knows if he did or not. Makes him less credible to me.
3)Why would the dealer be upset about it? A dealer would not give 2 f's in real life. No one would say XXX yamaha claimed that bike. It's Branden did. None of that makes sense to me.
4) If Walker was there for Branden's benefit why get shitty with the engine builder? Unless he was getting outside presure. I kicked him out of my pits. Really? Seems very shady.
5) Steve kept saying that Luce doesn't have the power to take a franchise away so he knows that was false. How is he coming to that conclusioin? Just because he can't doesn't mean he didn't say it. My theory is he definately told that dealer it was a possiblity and that's what got him so upset over it. How would the dealer or anyone really know if he had the power to do that? Again don't get Steve's take on this.
To me what makes sense is Luce went to Walker and the dealer and said get this handled or there will be problems. That's the only thing that makes sense to me. But that is my opinion. They got talked into giving up the claim for some fear of being black balled. Plain and simple. So they are just backing out of claims for fear of retaliation.
In all of this the only time it got heated from all accounts was the time Luce and Walker were involved. I think that says a lot.
Finally Steve kept saying the price needed to be raised. It's a rule to keep the class fair for everyone not just raise the price to the rich can do more without being claimed.
Again, this is my opinion and like a-holes everyone has one.
Peace!
