Can you let him back in sooner, please? He's a pain in the ass but he's our pain in the ass. Sometimes he can get a bit ornery but 2 weeks is a long time without the most prolific poster right now

Haha, that was a great thread.

But for this specific case, I think it would make sense to remove the ability for individual users to delete their posts and only allow them to edit their own posts to remove info. I think thats the biggest problem is Sloan deletes all the peoples posts who have replied to them, and there can be some good insight that is flushed down the drain

I don't so much mind J Sloan's posts in general...a lot of them are clearly bait of the poorest quality, but the serial deletion of posts (and worse whole threads) are just plain old lame.

@ML512 I find this forum a little unusual (but not unheard of) that members can delete entire threads...what if J Sloan started the "best 2 strokes thread" and decided to just delete it because he got bent out of shape for whatever reason. Some threads, no matter who starts them can be an archive of great info and/or memories for a lot of members.

Also...being able to delete your own post and having subsequent people who quoted you also having posts deleted is not ideal.

I think the only way people should be able to delete entire threads is via contacting a mod with a valid reason....eg "Sorry I was drunk"...."I've been threatened with litigation please remove" etc.

And I dont think people shouldnt be able to delete posts either...still be able to edit, but not affect any subsequent quotes.

I’m starting to feel like Sloan is on a mission to post in every thread as much as possible just to mass delete half the conversation that has happened and create a clusterfuck.

The whole "swapped the motor out" part . . . is that legal to do on a bike that has been claimed? If so, what other parts can be swapped? Or was that done before race officials impounded the bike? (if they ever did)

Motor that was pulled out was tagged and put in the hands of the AMA and would go with the bike when racing was over if the claim went through.
Muchas gracias.
And the claimant would get both motors along with any other parts changed.

The way I understood it was:

The claim was ON. (Complete bike impounded)
The claim was OFF. (Bike released back to Star)
The motor was swapped.

I find it very hard to believe the AMA would be mucked about and the claim going back ON again after it had been released once.

Agreed. I was saying what would have happened IF they had swapped the motor in the event the claim went the distance and they had to relinquish the bike.

Think about it rationally. I really doubt that Yamaha Corporation would threaten the claiming rider's dealership. It's Star's technology and mistake for them, not Yamaha. If that occurred, Yamaha Corporation should be punished severely, out of all AMA racing for 6 months, 10 million fine, like Formula 1. IF, that occurred, that's BULLSHIT.
Severely?

Cooksey responded to Brian’s claims of grasping at straws. He says Brian is lying about the engine builder putting up the money. Though the best part of the video is when he gets offended by someone in chat and calls them a douche bag. Here’s the video of anyone wants to keep following this shitshow. Grinning

Cooksey does say a lot of unsubstantiated BS. He does promote his feelings as facts and that's not class A journalism. Like, you know what you're getting with him.

The only part I’m really interested in hearing about, if it actually happened, is how Cotter and Deegan got to the kid before he got to the AMA official. The rest, to me, is inconsequential.

That part is categorically untrue! I was in the room the whole time when Deegen was there and nothing happened there was no intimidation whatsoever. I was also there right after the kid brought the protest up and the reason the kid was in the room without his father is because his father wasn’t there. Derek Harris wanted in the room but was not allowed because he was not the parent or guardian. That is absolutely positively firsthand because I was in the room

Insinuating that being in a room with cotter and deegan, isn't intimidating, is a bit of a stretch. Cotter is the director of operations for the sport this kid loves his whole life for, and Deegans was the general of The Metal Mulisha. How can you unequivocally say this boy wasn't intimidated, and where is this meeting behind closed doors part of the claiming process in the rule book?

Let’s start here and see where this goes. I have no insider knowledge on the claim but here’s why I think Star/whoever pushed so hard to make sure it wasn’t claimed.
1) if this was going to be Haidens last amateur race and he is planning to race the last few pro nationals, what better way then to give him the “true” factory star bike in a race situation.
2) I could be wrong but I don’t believe the claim rule is in effect at pro-ams therefore star has no concern of him racing the “true” factory star bike so they only had to get through LL and they were home free.
3)I can totally believe that mx sports (cotter) pulled Brennan into a room and told him to back off to protect star and the deegans. I have Nothing against Star or the deegans but mx sports and the industry wants him pro ASAP. Prime example is mx sports sent an email yesterday announcing that Unadilla and Budds creek are pro-am events. Yes Unadilla already was a pro-am but budds creek is/was not on the schedule. This addition gives haiden the opportunity to get enough points (60) to race the pro national at Budds Creek if he acquires enough points at Dilla or Ironman after he acquires enough points between Dilla and Budds Creek. If you don’t think mx sports intentionally is bending over backwards for Deegan to be pro ASAP I don’t know what you are thinking. Therefore if Deegan does get his pro points to be ready for Budds/Ironman he would have limited time on the true factory bike which is why I believe the bike he raced at LL was a “true” factory bike or one that is very close (not kit suspension).

Either way if Cotter had a closed door meeting with Brennan without the AMA involved in that conversation that lead to the withdrawal of the claim, that is total bulls**t and should be handled by the AMA. The head of MX sports shouldn’t bully riders when the claim was out of his juristication.

Haiden good luck at the Pro/Ams and I look forward to seeing your pro debut.

Why was a minor in a closed room meeting with them in the first place?

Why would anyone want to claim the bike that got this holeshot? It's barely three bike lengths...

I could buy 1 and 2 because of something I was told. I was told that he has been on a full factory bike for a couple weeks to help him build up his strength and stamina for when he does turn.

He explained that there is a leap power wise between a Star factory bike and a Star amateur bike and it takes more strength to ride the factory bike and they are trying to build it.

if I was an engine builder/tuner that knew Star was running their full pro setup in a race that has the "claiming" rule then this story is beginning to make sense - in my head at least. I guess if it was Varner they'd have handed it straight over but this other guy is blackballed by the Illumotonati...
