It’s called buying credibility….that type of model won’t last long…they won’t be able to sustain for too long by paying as Eli said wheelbarrows full of cash to top riders….I don’t care if they fill the stadiums it’s still not a world championship if you don’t have the best in the world….smoke and mirrors….The Canadian series could do the same with the money….

Let's say they sell out those 3 sx races... It would be interesting to know if that would cover the costs.

Let me put it like this: I've got the feeling both the current SX promoter as the current GP promoter are making a lot of money and the riders are not getting a good share of this. If this new series offers that opportunity to not only the stars like Roczen and Reed, but also guys like Anstie, then i'm all for it.

Right now it’s nothing more that three off season races that the promoter is paying riders start money to show up…that I have no problem with…but to allow team owners in that have been shady in the past and to try to call it a world championship….you’ll more than likely have riders racing for a podium that usually finish a lap down in the US….far from the worlds best…far from a world championship…
Usually have to say shit like this to noobs wouldn't think but there's lots of guys lately in the 450 class that fight for podiums or damn close to it regularly that also get lapped regularly. To get the ball rolling you have to pay to play. I see this being a nice 5 race fall series that will draw a good attendance and more riders next year.

Right on. Has anyone raced more manufacturers' machines than Chad Reed?
He got only contenders in that regard over the pond in Tanel Leok and Shaun Simpson. Grinning

What’s his motivation?
Surely he knows he can’t win.
He has enough money in the bank.
What is it? Does he need attention?

Edit: I just thought about how glorious it was when he won with his own team, which he built up from the ground. When he chased down RV before breaking his leg. Then coming back and winning on the TwoTwo-Kawi again. Absolute Legend!
Today, that gets overshadowed by his half backed comebacks and the races he did out of shape.
If it’s really for the love of the sport and the competition then I hope he shows up in shape.

So here's the thing, it may not be as big as SX in the US and it may not attract the BIG sx stars but it is as big as any country outside of the US will get.
I'd love to take the family to A1, but for me, that will cost around 10K. On the other hand, I can take the family to Melbourne for around 1K. I can also guarantee there will be people from New Zealand flying over for this as well who likely are in the same boat as well.
I'll admit, the US is where it's at for SX but for anyone living outside the US, WSX is the most accessible form of supercross racing we can go to live. I just don't understand why you feel the need to shit on it in every thread that pops up
All these people shitting on it, but I bet they all tune in and watch it regardless.
If the series is good enough for Reed, Seely, Roczen, Tomac, then why’s it not good enough for all these fans slagging it off.
There’s still going to be big names and full gates in the AMA, there’s still going to be the same teams with the same amount of factory bikes, so even if AMA loose a guy here or there, it gives the next guy In-line a factory bike and more so the program and pay check.
As a fan you win, you get an extra series.

5 racers won an SX this season, what's the motivation of the other 30 riders......
Racers race, Chad's a bad ass and still loves twisting the throttle and banging bars.

Motivation.

Gets cheered MASSIVELY when introduced.
Gets to BS and shit talk with other riders the day before and on the day. Lots of fun.
Give sponsors some clicks. Lots of clicks.
Might get a holeshot.
Supports the Aussie boys on the world stage. Racers and the promotors.
Keeps engaged with the sport he has been involved with for most of his life.
Gets to race in a positive environment, free from the hard asks when on a factory team.

Give you one reason, if it succeeds it has the potential to put a big dent in a series that he defends the slightest criticism to. I agree it’s odd a racer like Ken who’s results slide the longer a season goes on is signing up for more races, but if someone wants to give riders a venue to showcase their talent and pay them at the same time, have at it!

I have probably missed it, but how do we watch this? 41 different, and all barely functioning, streaming services? YouTube? Something else?

We have tickets for Rd 1 in Cardiff but there's no way I have the time, dollar or even inclination to go to Oz for Rd 2... the spiders are too big there for a start.

Trashing his legacy???
By lining up at 40yo he’s just adding to it. Doesn’t even matter how he does.

If it were a nice little fall series I would have no issues...but it's not it is going to be going head to head with USMX and MXGP next year and that is where my issue is. If you watch MXGP this year you will have to admit that because of injuries the racing hasn't been what it was last year and its not as competitive as far as racing for a championship that the USMX is this year. Deplete both of those fields next year by only 3-4 top riders and see what it will do to the racing next year...That's my issue... they chose to compete against outdoor MX worldwide and that will diminish the overall depth of the fields worldwide....

You think?
I like to remember my sports heroes in their prime.
I always think of Michael Schumacher. Nobody would question today that he is the goat, because he took Ferrari out of the dumpster and won five championships, but his comeback with Mercedes left some doubts.
Same with Chad. If he had quit in 15 with TwoTwo Motorsports, we would remember him differently. At least for me that’s true.

Selling out the stadiums won’t be the key to overpaying in the long term, that’s for sure.

If they ever get interest in someone actually paying for the media rights instead of having to be paid to show them AND get some serious financial backing from a title sponsor and ancillary sponsors, then maybe.

I’m actually surprised that the Feld series hasn’t tried selling individual SX race naming rights, aka NASCAR……

If they get full gates of riders, it'll be more credible than the current "world championship" model that's being sold about. jmo

If your thought is that a championship is only a world championship when the very best from every continent is racing, then your opinions is that Supercross and Outdoors have never had a world champion. No series has ever had the best riders from every country competing against each other.

Full gates? There are only 20 riders and next year when injuries happen they will have a hard time filling gates...

This is exactly why its more of a seniors tour than a world championship….Happy for Reedy to get paid to race again as I am for Chiz, Brayton, Deano etc….but it will be far far from the worlds best competing for a championship…which is what a true world championship should be…
Tomac and Roczen are confirmed for the first round.

Does Chad even crack the top 10? I see him mid pack to the back. He will not be a factor for any race wins or the championship. Pure money grab.

Michael Jordan is the undeniable GOAT. And of course we all remember him for his Bulls domination. But then he dicked around with baseball. Came back. Move to the charlotte team. I suppose if he asked me, I'd have said to hang 'em up after the bulls and let his records speak for themselves.

So as others have said, I sorta dislike seeing someone like Reed come out and roll around in 12th. When for many years he was a perennial superstar battling for champions.

But hey - it's his life. Just giving my selfish opinion.

Cool! I'm excited for this series....should be a fun one to watch. Give them a chance....this could be a fun series over the next couple of years to fill in some gaps in watchable moto.
