If Eli struggle when he goes from a Kawasaki 450 to another Kawasaki 450, he will probably struggle going from a yzf 450 to a yzf 250 just saying…

I hope that Craig can pick it up the last races and it comes down to him instead of some fairytale dreams about Barcia.

I didn't even remember he did this until someone brought it up. And it was bad. But he was also 25+ lbs heavier than the next 250 kid AND on a slow Honda.

In all honesty I think it’s 50/50. Half the time it goes good half bad. Too bad Jcoop isn’t just 15% better right now

Do whatever you have to do to ensure that the 250 bike is a Star bike. ET, JC and CC would be my choices in that order. There are more 450 guys to chose from than 250 guys so if ET drops down, you have Chase and your choice of a few other capable guys.

What makes you think the 250 is going to start up front against 450's.What if a rider like Cooper doesn't get a good start and has a hard time passing people? He rely's on good starts and has not shown the ability to come from behind and pass a lot of people. We are also going to have to decide which rider gets the first gate choice and that has huge implications. In my opinion we need a 250 rider who can come from behind and pass a lot of people and we can't count on a good start on the 250

Anyone thinking about the Dutch putting Jeffrey on a 250. They got Coldenhoff, Bogers and Vlandaaren to choose from on 450. They have de Wolf on 250 but he's not setting the world on fire right now.

Jeffrey and Eli can have their showdown on 250Fs at mxon.

I thought DV was smoking crack when hr started talking about it but I have to say I like the idea after he went through it all. I would like Anderson on a 450 but with him out I’d say put Dungey on the team. Dude is reliable as it comes and for sure will put in two good scores.

I just listened to DV; he was very persuasive and what I interpreted from Eli was that he was thinking about it in earnest.

If TLDR (or listen to Pulp) - paraphrasing what DV said and I agree with:
1) If you don't have an ace 250 guy, put your best rider (Eli) on the 250 because he is tough and can work his way through the pack. The Yamaha is the fastest bike so that's a plus.
2) Your next guys are on 450s and are likely to get better starts and finish better.
3) If the 450s drift back slower than the 250 moves forward, team does better overall

Risky, unconventional approach that our conservative team leaders will likely not follow.

DV was definitely pulling on the "Eli legacy" strings, comparing Hannah's win at Unadilla and O'mara's win at Maggiora to plant Eli in the "legendary" column for has last MXDN. Frankly the way he's riding he's expected to win on a 450; hard to improve on that. If he wins by a minute and the team loses that would be a bummer.

Tomac and Sexton are as close to a sure thing that you can get for a good score in 450. If you put either one of them on a 250 that "sure thing" goes out the window. Like someone said above, Tomac is sensitive to bike changes and needs to be comfortable. It took him 2-3 rounds to get comfortable on the Yamaha 450. Why risk ruining a good thing now? I get DV's logic. To me, it's more of a Hail Mary move that the US doesn't need this year.

IMHO you can’t have a 450 guy race the 250 unless that rider gets to do at least one national racing the 250. I’m a huge Craig fan but, it’s hard to believe that he’s faster than Cooper on the 250.
