How soon we forget......until what? 2020? The AMA SX series WAS a "FIM World Championship". Laughing

Nobody knew, nobody cared. it was just words.

This "new" series is just an attempt by a bunch of wannabes in Australia to copy-cat a niche sport that took 50 YEARS to grow to where it is now in the USA. It's all about GREED, a few "promoters" will fill their pockets, then disappear when reality hits.

Last time I checked, there were more dirtbikes in California than THE REST OF THE WORLD COMBINED. Contact MIC, Motorcycle Industry Council and buy their annual data package and see for yourself. Can you connect those dots?

Look at the names involved......2nd and 3rd stringers, has-beens and never-weren'ts. Craig Dack......who? 250 SX from 20 years ago? Rick Ware.....permanent 35th place Nascar backmarker........and the "big name riders" from America......Vince Friese, Mitchell Oldenburg, Cole Seeley etc.

Really? Laughing

Nobody even knows where these races will be held ......... Ouagadougou? Cardiff? Rio? Mogadishu? How will you watch it? Buy a plane ticket to Mogadishu? or sign up for MAVTV? Laughing

Re. US outdoors MX, the level of riders who will race WSX instead. ...... who's going to miss them? Tomac and Jett/Hunter L won't Laughing

Kenny will be able to get his name etched in the history books right next to former world SX champ Heath Voss Tongue

What intrigues me, especially being an F1 fan, is the 10 team and 20 rider limit. Seems like they are going the route of the F1 structure by making it a private series. Transportation and Logistics all subsidized. Teams and Riders all making a portion of the series profits much like F1. All assumptions here but it's interesting to think about..

If the series succeeds in the first few years and big manufactures buy in, could we see a similar approach to works bikes and development within the series? That could be cool..

Also, much like F1 and Indycar, if WSX does become the premier series, AMA Supercross would still be a big and successful series due to the limited number of rides available in WSX. More of a feeder series, but still successful. And it's crown jewel would be Daytona, much like the Indy 500, drawing WSX riders to compete in the legendary race..

No telling if any of this will actually happen, but we have some interesting times ahead of us that's for sure!

So Kenny only committed to the 2022 WSX and he hasn't re-signed with Honda.

It's a shame the WSX isn't planned to be run in the fall for 2023 when all the stars from AMA and MXGP could have a shot at it.

I wonder if this will go down a similar route like the golf has taken, where the PGA have banned anyone who plays this Saudi series from playing PGA again. I wonder a couple years down the line (or even next year) if something similar will happen with the AMA banning anyone who decides to race this World Series instead of AMA... just a thought
I could see the opposite being true before AMA does that.

AMA is a shit show some times, but they generally make more sense than the FIM with their actions.

Maybe I just have a sour taste in my mouth from how the FIM has done Stew/Clason/Tickle and others dirty with the WADA stuff.

The outdoor series has to begin seeing that this WSX series is going to be serious competition. I don't believe both can survive as legitimate championships.

I hope this doesn’t come true. The nationals are who support the sport. It will die if they dont ride mx.

I feel like an old man saying this but I’m only 36. I’ve been watching/racing/riding for over 30 years now and seen so much stuff come and go in the industry. Tracks, promoters, sponsors, teams, shops, series’ etc. I’m going to have a hard time taking this WSX seriously until they have a few years to prove it has legs. Kenny or no Kenny.

Problem is.... fim sx is gonna reduce the amount of talent in the ama sx series.... this is not good for the USA sx series at all... as we rarely have enough talent for a competitive series the way it is now...

The 450 SX series is stacked. Multiple winners each year. Multiple podiums each year. Talkin’’ bout Willis?

He’s never been the same since the big one. Mentally or Physically. He’s not gonna beat Tomac, Sexton, or Coop either. Hell he’s barely beating retired Dungey outdoors where he touted he “WAS NOT DONE”

He was right, he’s not done, just on the retirement tour

Since he committed to the series without a team, does that make it likely that the series has offered him some sort of guaranteed money to participate? Or maybe Red Bull wants him to do it?

Or, he just wants to announce that he's in, so that all the teams can bid for his services and/or entice other teams to form for the series?
That's what I was wondering as well. Take some of that $50m and buy some legitimacy.

So they are going to pay Kenny to race 3 races (as of now) this fall to give their series some legitimacy….nothing about after that…BIG news that really isn’t that big when you realize what is really going on…With everyone else racing Paris they had to do something to try and steal the thunder with a little slight of hand thrown in…

Then Feld better buckle up and compete with World SX. Start increasing the purse to attract the riders to stay, ease restrictions on riders selling their own merchandise, and give teams a stipend or a way to make money for starters. If not, someone else (World SX) is gonna come along and give the riders and teams everything they've asked for which is $$$$$$

Dig the outdoor series, but if the world soopy series is a success, you might be correct.

So Kenny signed-up to race three rounds for probably a boatload of money to prepare him for Supercross and the nationals next year (his words)? I for one am shocked at this news. Will they even bother holding the rest of the nationals this year after such devastating news? Man, those of you who just don’t care for anything US based are grasping straws. I also like to see riders have opportunities to get paid but let them hold an actual race first before you celebrate the death of the nationals.

Any team that doesn’t sign him is just a hater
So, is he hired by more than one team? Or, are nine of the ten teams haters? That’s a pretty big bite…

Sorry, forgot to hit the quote button per Mav
No offense, but crowning a "world champion" after 3 rounds is pretty pathetic.

Edit:

This year they should just get crowned the inaugural SX Global champion or something along those lines. Leave the "world champion" moniker out of it until next year when they have 10+ rounds.

Since it's new, after the first race you're already the undefeated world champ so we could have 2 world champions in the same year. I'm the world champion, I've never lost a race! lol
