My 125 definitely suffered compared to the 150 in the mid until I messed with the powervalve and a few other bits and now she rips like a Mofo.
That said I just bought a 150 kit for my 125 to put on when I do the next top end. I plan to keep my 125 cylinder as well so I can swap If I want to but I probably won’t.
Personally the best investments I’ve made in my 125 is exhaust (bills) Proper jetting and power valve adjustments, suspension revalve, and Vortex ignition. Of all the jetting powervalve and vortex made the biggest changes, once the powervalve and jetting was dialed I gained a lot more bottom. I was able to switch the ignition to the over rev map and then she pulls forever. We will see how this translates on the 150 kit eventually. I have another 5 hours until rebuild time.
Awesome thread, love to see it 👍

Haven't been able to keep off the 150 ever since. By far the most fun race bike on the planet!
Not this one Bro. It’s the Ryan Mills works replica. Double boost port special Profeshenal racing cylinder. A couple of these where released by accident.

Getting a mate to video me on the day of my first ride, plus I will have my gopro on. Wanna put together a nice little video for posterity...at my age this could well be my last 125.. my first one was a 77 Elsinore..
Actually, thats ridiculous...I'm only 16 and I have the new 125 to prove it..😀😀
Actually scratch that...I'm only 14...and I have the super mini to prove it!! 😀😀
Actually, I tell too many lies. I'm really a girl, and I like rding Honda Z 50's 😀😀
Then I don’t hv a 05 chassis just sitting. My back is pretty bad yet. Kinda retuned and so busy with 2 vehicles buying parts and switching parts like a under drive pulley kit just the pulley on the crank turned into a nightmare. Switching alternators because the van I,m selling has a life time warranty it has the billet alum pulley also. Changing starters also life time warranty on one. Pulling air ride off changing shocks, etc. Exhaust apt, tires, etc. the weather here sucks big time either cold 37 at night windy or rain, slows down everything. I pressure washed the engine and tuned it up in the rain wed and bought more parts.
I have my “race bike” and they all secured theirs now too.
It’s in 3 weeks.
I have an 06 cr125 I rode it once so far and had an absolute blast!
One friend grabbed an 06 rm125, a 13 husky 125, a 92 cr125 and an 01 kx125 round out the bikes for this battle royale.
Talking a few more guys into it hopefully too!
Riding it last weekend was so fun.
Pinned, and shifting and bogging and clutching and just laughing all day about how slow it is and how absolutely wide open you are everywhere on it lol.
So fun.
I might be all in on 125s from here.
Need to revive this thread....
Us old guys are still bringing it on our 125s! Me at LL24 on the Trick Engineering sponsored 2005 true YZ125. Thanks Clayton!!
Yesterday I raced my 2011 YZ125 in the 40+ 125cc class in the 125cc Two Stroke Dream Race event at Washougal.
It has been over a year since I lined up on a 125cc and I forgot how well I have that Yamaha set up. So fast and so much fun!
Alright cool your still racing a 125 at LL. I asked about you on here if you where at LL with your 04 yz125 this yr. Did you hv enough hp for the track ? I think it would b enough. I kept my 04 a stock bore too. I want a quick responsive engine a heavier piston & stroker crank slows that down. Plus I want the transmission to hold up longer. I think 38 hp & 19 ft lbs is more than enough.
We have a series here in South Texas that has a 40+ 125 class at every race! I haven't got to race it yet, but it should be awesome!
I have a sand track that i practice on some and a few years ago I had a 350sxf and I thought the 350 would be way better in the power sucking sand, but it wasn't! 125 was way better! Same experience, the 125 was set up so good, it worked better!
Post a reply to: Older Vet guys...and their 125's.
