No more Peacock?

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (February 11, 2022) – MX Sports Pro Racing, in conjunction with longtime series title sponsor Lucas Oil, has announced that MAVTV Motorsports Network will become the primary broadcast partner of Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing. As part of the series’ milestone 50th anniversary, the “Home of American Motorsports” will provide the most extensive live broadcast schedule in American motocross history for the 2022 season. The championship will be showcased on MAVTV’s over-the-air network in addition to introducing Pro Motocross to the subscription-based MAVTV Plus global streaming service for the first time, where both monthly and yearly subscribers will have on-the-go access to watch the season unfold from their mobile and streaming devices. New subscribers to MAVTV Plus can take advantage of a limited time offer of $6.99 on a month-to-month plan!

That sucks if no more Peacock. Price isn't bad but I can't see a small company like MAV having the same budget and production values as a large company like NBC (Peacock).

MAV-TV and Lucas Oils Studios have been producing the outdoor national TV shows for the last ten years, both on MAV and NBC Sports and peacock, so you won't see any drop in production.

NBC never gave real motocross any respect.
Delayed, or next day coverage of the 2nd moto was unacceptable.
Obviously a ratings issue.
But damn, don't hijack our 2nd moto.
Especially when you saw some of the crap they were airing when the 2nd motos were being run.

Sucks to lose it on peacock though.
Were looking to drop our cable service entirely.
Adding up the cost of the streaming services, plus
Amazon prime, Netflix, etc...
Is still far cheaper than the monthly cable bill.
And you don't have to pay for 80-90% of channels you never watch anyway.

Thanks DC - Does MAV offer dedicated apps for all the major TV manufactures or will we be forced to watch on our phones and web browsers?

"New subscribers to MAVTV Plus can take advantage of a limited time offer of $6.99 on a month-to-month plan!"

Also I wonder when the price increases or what it is next year when your no longer a new subscriber?

I've watched it streaming on my TV as well as my desktop and its been perfect. Also, there will be no take-delayed second motos, all four will air live on MAV TV and stream live, and no international embargo like we had in previous years--last year Australians couldn't watch the Lawrence brothers all summer long!

Looks like Roku, FireTV, and AppleTV for streaming on the TV.

Will it be commercial free on TV or just the app?

I have access to MAVTV through my provider.

Regardless, having it available to more countries is a great thing. Now, only if SX could do the same...

Thanks!

I've got Roku one one TV and VIZIO on another. Guess 1/2 isn't too bad.

They do this but it is a bit pricey and unsure of how great the quality is.

I don't mind paying the $6.99 monthly during the season, I would just like to know will the races be commercial free? Are we just getting the MavTV feed, like Directv gets, where they cut away to commercials, or will we continue to see the racing action while the broadcast cuts away for commercials? I would assume it would remain like previous years where the broadcast stays with the action for those paying the subscription, but Supercross changed how they handle things for their subscribers, so don't want to just assume.

Definitely a little bummed to learn it wont be broadcast on Peacock this year, since last season was the first time I was able to watch every moto of the year along with all of the supercross races. But with that being said, I guess if the international crowd is getting an assist I can swallow my disappointment a little easier.

I appreciate the input, but that is disappointing. I guess we will have to wait and see, but if the subscribers are just getting the broadcast feed with commercials, I personally see no reason to pay for a subscription. Thanks for the info.

Well this is a step back. Not sure why they made it seem like a big deal on social media last night when it’s taking such a step back.

If it is going to be commercial free that would likely be a selling point they would include in the press release.

Wow, if the stream is interrupted with commercials that would be a MASSIVE step backwards, real bush league stuff. I hope MAVTV specializing in racing/motorsports know the importance of seeing all the racing, we shall see.

David Pingree mentioned something vague today in his Vlog that something is happening behind the scenes in outdoor motocross.

Anyone have any insight on the future of the outdoor series?

Any clue on how long the "Limited Time Offer" of $6.99/month lasts?

What I'm reading here is I spent $100 for peacock so I could watch SX and nationals commercial free, and what I'm actually getting is SX with commercials and no nationals.

They really don't make it easy on us, do they?

Sorry, writing Racerhead. I think there are several very exciting things happening behind the scenes in outdoor motocross, and maybe even a big surprise or two. But that's for a later on...

Welcome to the streaming world! Shitty quality and $5 hear and $5 there. Before you know it you will be paying more to stream and getting less quality. Wait until they increase the quality ang you have to pay for better internet service.

NBC went away, therefore you end up watching on a CNBC or USA, etc different weekends and get kicked to the curb when something bigger comes on. Now you can actually watch on 1 network, all 4 motos. Don’t have MAVTV? Watch via app. This is actually a good thing. Notice all the networks that mx/sx has aired on have let the sport go? Fuel, speed, fs1, nbcsn, etc.
