He had some substance abuse issues recently and Christian distanced himself from Mike. It seems Mike has since cleaned up and is trying to get back into his life.

At a sober living house in Norco, CA. It's no secret. He says it himself in the WT interview. He was pretty open about his situation and relationship with Christian.

He sounded a little like Steven Adler in his interview. Slurring etc.. Lets hope he pulls his head out and enjoys his son and family while he can. Good luck Sting Ray!

Adler slurs because he had 2-3 strokes from shooting too much heroin into his arm. I don't know what Michael's issue is.

Addiction can happen to anybody. It's an equal opportunity destroyer.

I use to say people were crazy for getting addicted to opioids. Everyone knows how addictive they are. Then I broke collarbone and ankle almost back to back and understood. I noticed that I wasn't in pain and taking them and put a stop to it, but I can see how they could take ahold of someone. We have to figure out a better way to treat pain.

Not saying that is what happened in this case, just that as I got older I now see how things could spiral.

Yep that’s what happens and when they can’t get prescribed pills any longer they turn to the streets and when the streets can’t provide pills they fall into the black hole that is meth, heroin, etc. etc.

When I am injured my first goal in recovery is to ditch the pain meds and to be honest pill addiction is one of my worst fears as a parent. Have seen too many lives ruined with the root cause being “injury”.

That was straight up embarrassing for him, he got man handled by Chance Blackburn (sp). I don’t think he’s done much beating up of anyone. Laughing

I’m pretty good friends with Theresa his wife, as is my gf. She wouldn’t be around mike unless he was sober, so I would assume he’s on the strait and narrow. He has a lot of talented kids training with him again and seems to be doing good again. I saw him at Hemet supercross last week training and he looked great. Addiction can happen to anyone, dirt bike riders are no exception. It seems he has made a big effort to correct that problem.

Ran into Mike at the hospital track a couple weeks ago, we stood out in the rain and shot the shit for awhile about growing up racing in San Diego together,

100%.

I met a widower Navy Vet in his 70’s. The subject of drugs, pills and crime came up. He explained how he’s never used drugs in his life, but was given a script for some form of opiates after a surgery. He said that one day following surgery, he was watching TV and thought “I need to take my next dose of pain meds.” When he was halfway to the medicine chest he realized he wasn’t due for several more hours and pain wasn’t driving his thoughts, his mind was. He realized he was getting hooked and switched to ibuprofen/Tylenol. He said without that epiphany, he’d likely be an addict.

I hate pain meds. Scary shit.

Everybody has that in there head now, oh man I took pain killers and now I,m addicted. You screwed it up big time for the people that need them for surgeries. No one on earth doesn’t like the feeling of flying while being on them. If you broke your back in 96 you got a huge bottle with many refills. More back injuries more bottles 02 surgery more bottles. You taper down then stop if your on them for weeks. My last surgery I didn’t plan on taking them but had too. 12 days straight then complete stop. Ibuprofen put 1 on your tong for 5 min they burn. And eat holes in your stomach always take with alot of food.

Pain killers have ruined a lot of promising careers.

A lot of guys in the pits were a bit addicted to them in the 2000s until Taradole came along.
