Isn’t jersey the worst state of them all?

You must not have lived in any other states before…

Good input fellas.

Idaho seems great but as mentioned above I think I probably missed the boat on that one. Too many Californias moved up there are priced just about everyone out.

Texas is appealing. I lived outside College Station for a bit in my early 20’s. Last time I was in the area it seemed like an extension of Austin with all the growth.

Haven’t thought much of Alabama. Something to look into.

I’m a fireman so relocated jobs isn’t as easy as other professions.
There’s some great areas outside of Pittsburgh. The weather is kind of shit here in the winter but solid spring, summer and fall. But realistically Pittsburgh area doesn’t get “that” much snow compared to other parts of PA. Our governor is a fuckin moron but I have no doubt we correct that issue in the next election.

Other than those two issues Western PA is a really nice place. There’s quite a few tracks within a few hours and the off-road scene has really taken off. It seems like everyone and their brother is getting into hard enduro- even guys who barely ever rode dirt bikes.

Most areas have very low crime rates and people leave you alone. But it’s like absolutely anywhere else in any part of the country. Some areas a very safe and some aren’t. Do some research before you move anywhere. Most police departments list their crime stats on their website so you can check out the types of incidents that are high. any time you see an area with a very high number of burglaries/robberies or vehicle thefts you’ll wanna stay away. Those crimes are very indicative of what you’ll get from that area.

We love the Southeast and the people there, we almost moved to South Carolina a few years ago. We also were looking at eastern Georgia or north Florida.
Although we were empty nesters then.
Ended up we had a couple grandkids and my wife didn't want to move far way from them.

If we were moving with our 4 kids now I would look hard at Florida, We're getting ready to buy a snowbird home there.
Lots of places to ride mx and mtb, beaches and no income tax, If you don't have to live right on the coast housing prices aren't much different than Indiana. And the beach is just a day trip away.
I know a number of people of different ages who moved there and love it.

Tennessee is a good option too, Just still too much winter there for me.

That said, every place has pluses and minuses.

Pretty much everything this guy says, I can confirm. I moved to Pittsburgh about 5 years ago and didnt know anything about the area. Found a great spot with good schools for my kid, and Im a short drive(2hrs or less) from 8-10 really good tracks. There is a really good/dense moto community here and most of the people are really cool.

The down side to PA is the taxes. Your coming from California so your probably use to that, but my God this place finds a way to tax anything they can.

On behalf of Kentuckians, you are not welcome here. We have seen your stewardship. Try NorCal.

Move to Portland. 5 tracks within an hour. Rains a little in the winter. Homeless folks don’t venture further than Gresham.

So where’s an area with good schools for kids (I have 4 of them), a strong Moto scene, and not going to lock down every time anyone other then a bum sneezes?

Western Colorado is pretty damn nice. The only thing missing is the ocean, but who wants to go into the filth on the California coast anyway and you have Lake Powell as an option.

I have lived all over New York and California, including Temecula. I live in Philadelphia now, work at UPenn.

US News has NJ #1 for health care, #4 for education, #5 for crime:
https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/new-jersey

The problem with CA is no one is funny, everyone is soft, genuine people are rare, and it never rains. The only thing I miss are mission-style burritos, legal weed, and being able to buy beer and alcohol at the same store.

Also, you can use this: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/11/23/opinion/sunday/best-plac…

Most of you can go ahead and click that you like Republicans, sparsely populated, and warm weather.

I lived in grand junction for 2 year, was a cool area. If your into motocross though it’s horrible, closest tracks were 4 hours away

Desert riding right out your back door though

There is more to California than SoCal. To me, anything SoCal is a shit hole and anyone who thinks it’s not has probably never been out of the area. Yes, you have the beach, but it’s full of trash and definitely doesn’t make up for the rest of the area.

Move north, Oxnard, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Sant Cruz or San Luis Obispo are all nice areas without the BS. I love my setup where I live, but if I was to move, I’d go to Ventura or Oxnard.

If you live in San Diego, you not going to be happy anywhere in Texas.

Theres always Oklahoma, if you dont watch the news then you would never know COVID exists. Plenty of riding areas and tracks. Things are getting more expensive every day but ultimately low cost of living compared to other states. Gas is 2.89 at the moment, has not been above 3 bucks yet...

Feels like half of California has moved here to TX in the past few years. Dallas/Ft. Worth has a good moto scene and is a good place to raise a family. All of the suburbs north of Dallas have great schools and there are plenty of job opportunities here. Weather is decent (you can ride year round obviously) but you have to deal with living in an oven in July and August and of course storm season in the spring. Lots of tracks in the DFW area. Quite a few times we'll also take the 3 hour or so drive to Austin and/or Houston to hit those tracks (Murphy's, 3 Palms, etc). Lots of training facilities and fast dudes in this area also.

I've lived here my whole life but traveled the country working when i was in my 20s and there is no way id move here from Cali... The roads are shit, the people are filthy inconsiderate pricks, trash just tossed along the road everywhere you look, gas prices blow, toll roads blow, etc... only nice weather here is from late may to early oct. rain, snow and cloudy shit weather the rest of the year..

Texas is quickly becoming California... living in Dallas now feels a lot like it was back when I wasliving in socal 15-16 years ago. cost of living is quickly skyrocketing, the homeless problem is increasing, traffic is insane.

Nevada has turned into a Ca. wannabe. Enough liberals have moved into So Nv that Clark Co. (Vegas) can pretty much outvote the rest of the state. Hence our most recently elected liberal state government. Love that I can basically ride from my driveway near Carson City, to Utah on dirt. If you've been in So Cal your whole life, the cold Idaho winters may be a deal breaker.

I have a friend who just sold a house in Cali and bought another house in Cali, I thought it was a requirement to leave when you sold your house but I guess not.

Somebody should tell the others 🤣

There are a couple of tracks within 2 hours and finally someone has gotten the local track shaped up. Plenty of secret tracks in the hills too.

I agree 100%! I grew up in SW PA and moved away after graduating college. Had a job transfer in 2015 and moved to Washington, PA for only 6 months. That was all I needed to know that I never wanted to move back there!! I'm back in TX again and the weather is a freaking sauna 7 months of the year. Don't move here either.
