Holy crap, it's like it's the Spring of 1974 all over again and Honda just released the CR125 Elsinore. Most guys are delirious with joy, but a sad few are whining and bitching about how much they're going to miss wrenching on the Sachs transmissions of their suddenly obsolete Pentons.

Johnny Ringo, your capacity for narrow-mindedness and reflexive hostility is legendary around here - this, we know - but whether you're willing to acknowledge it or not, we all woke up to the future this morning. Well then, is it perfect? No, it is not. Is it everything we could hope for? No, it is not. Is it inexpensive? No, it is not. Is it The Future regardless? Yup.

Take heart, you can still head out to Pala or wherever with that guy who says he could never put up with an electric bike because he motos 8 hours straight 8 days a week, and you can sniff his spent VP exhaust fumes to your heart's content. He'll be your "huckleberry," so there's that. And should you become lonely out there at the track and find yourself curious where the rest of us have run off to, let me fill you in: we're all quietly riding at a host of newly formed private tracks whilst reveling in where this glorious sport is now headed.
Thank you Silas, I haven't laughed that hard in a loooong time. Seriously, how far do you have to have your head up your own ass to bash this? This is the biggest development since at least the early 80s. If it's not your cup of tea keep it moving

Oh i'm sorry. They lost me when the video was plastered with photo montage of nothing and overhype, then follow by Gordon Bombay posing in a turtleneck behind the bike like he just invented motorcycles for the first time in history. E-Bikes aren't worth my time. BTW how about you check my "quote" bud. Stop being such a triggery rut puddle. lol

*****Well I was going for my pro license and ran out of money because this sport is a money pit. And then the 12 month criteria expires and you have to start again. So yeah if I had more money I would have went pro.*****

Remember that one from a few months ago.??? From that point forward I couldn’t take ANY of your opinions seriously.

LMAO Woohoo Woohoo Tongue Tongue

Last word from me on this Stark Ebike or any of the others we are sure to see in the coming months/years. I applaud any manufacturer that spends the time, money and effort to create a new platform. I 100% hope it is as described.and is successful. And this is coming from a guy that hates 4strokes and feel that real moto was ridden on smelly old 2strokes since 1972

Nice personal attack on my life experience and bank account with motocross. Real cute. And it's true. I live in MN, we can only ride from April until end of September if lucky. That's 6 months we're behind every year from southern states. So I had to fit in 12 months of points in 4 months realistically. So yes, please shame me for trying you @sshole.
Strike a chord ,ay??? Plenty of us got our Pro card under similar circumstances—- northern climate/ limited funds ,no parts, borrowing bikes, etc etc. But…. We made it. Somewhere along the way you need to accept the reality that you just weren’t fast enough to score the points or to catch someone’s eye that could help finance your way to the bigs.

My perception of you is that you get pissed when someone disagrees with you and calls you out on your misguided notions. AND you have a habit of. “ making excuses “ instead of “ making things happen “

Here’s a thought— how about TRYING one of these Electric bikes before you say they suck?? I know Darryn Durham and AJ were both pretty impressed with the first gen Alta..

Couple of things.

With current 450s having a reputation for being "too powerful", why the excitement about the 80hp model?

Also...that big ugly box...is that the battery or engine? Whatever it is, it's ugly af so why not just cover it up giving more space for gfx etc? Or is it for cooling reasons?

I agree with an earlier post in that this is the future and some things about it will not be for everyone ...lets be honest it's the lack of noise that a lot will miss and the spectacle that goes with that noise.

But on the flipside, everyone will benefit from the lack of noise. It's the future like it or not, get on it or not.

As for this particular bike, I'm skeptical about their range/power claims but that will all come out in the wash.

Many of us were bummed to see Alta not make it, and you gotta commend this new company to pull off what they did for some exciting progression of the sport and push past where Alta ceased. If you don't want the sport to progress, that's pretty sad really...

"I'm just here to stir $hit up" is my saying. Seems I got more than a few people riled up on here. Jeez. I'm for progression, BUT electric isn't the way to go. IN MY OPINION. And I only say that because the "zero emission" nonsense doesn't sell in reality. Your house is getting power from 60-70% coal or fossil fuel power plants. And if you are charging your bike at the track on your generator it's still using fuel. This bike DOES look better than Alta on paper. I just want to see the real head to head proof. Not a slow motion and chopped video showing nothing useful.
So dont buy an electric dirtbike. job done
For some other people, it does make sense. everyone has different needs, wants and requirements.
If it makes sense for enough people, electric MX bikes will become ubiquitous, if they do not make sense for many people, companies like this will not be around long.

So lets stop the bickering and see what happens. Regardless it is cool to see new products. last I checked nobody is holding a gun to anyone's head forcing them to buy electric

And I wish I was born 2 years earlier because my district would have signed off on my becoming pro. They stopped that process 2 years before I got to A class. So I didn't get a handout pro license like a lot of

still think you'd smoke a battery on a sandy track or if you decide to ride longer

i could usually burn close to 5 gallons of gas in a day

It's okay you have a little man complex and need to lash out. But BRO, the bike has so much more negative than positive compared to what we currently have. If its not actually better in at least 75% of the checklist, its irrellevant.

At 6' 3"-- 215, I doubt that is my problem, lmao---- My issue with your comments , is that you obviously didn't even bother to watch the video (which is full of information) before you threw up your diatribe. The bike has an infinite amount of tunability ---including how much "engine braking" you can dial up, among many other attributes.

At least familiarize yourself with something before you bash it---particularly stating "problems" that aren't even there.. Makes you look a bit ridiculous

You left out how much you bench numbnuts. Give me a break. It's my opinion and you jumped on it like elon. Chill out snowflake. I watched the video, and I know its NOT going to be as good as it says. It never is. So go home snowflake. Stop being offended by everything.
Anyone else ever noticed the dumbasses that are the first to start calling people snowflakes are absolutely the whiniest little bitches on the face of the earth

Wow very cool.
But I think the range is slightly exaggerated.
The battery is 6kWh.

I have an ALTA with 5.8kWh battery.
And i get only 20 minutes of MX riding and around 1 hour on the trail.
And I am nowhere near pro speed.
So to get 6 hours on the trail is probably at snail pace.
The whole thing is exaggerated. Tesla’s, dirt bikes, vapes, and power tools all run off the same batteries: lithium ion cells in either 18650 or 21700 dimension. Until that changes we’ll only see incremental improvements to electric drivetrains, which really seem to sell based on their potential for exponential improvement. This has been a mature technology for a long time and the only improvements have come from software. Until hardware goes through a sea change, this tech falls flat.

They’re going the Tesla route. Electric vehicles are quiet and boring? Here let’s make it absurdly powerful to turn some heads and get people excited about it.

Seems to be working!

Just saying. If I had gotten the same treatment in the process as my peers did 2 years earlier, I had a good enough finish in my first year of 125A to get a pro license via my District's recommendation. FACT.

Trying to get excited- but really wishing this was Honda or Yamaha or one of the other big manufacturers building this bike. Unfortunately, the odds are stacked against them to survive and not become another Alta. Odds are probably 90% they go bankrupt. I’ll be surprised if they even get into production and deliver customer bikes. Hoping I am wrong because I want to buy one!

That being said, I am all on board with an electric bike as we have 5 acres here at home just waiting for a mx track to be built on it.

Lastly- glad they kept the design relatively conventional..I hate these electric car/motorcycle designs where they try to be all futuristic looking and end up looking like a shitty Prius.

Preordered. If I like it as much or more than the Altas, I'll sell one of my MXRs.

I hear what you're saying with most electric cars—Cybertruck too. But the Alta, especially in person, is amazing looking. It looks like a light, refined dirt bike, not some retro/futuristic offshoot.

I can't help but shake my head at the roller-coaster ride of irony present in this thread. There's all this optimism and boldly-professed joy - yes - but there's also all this fretful skepticism and all these furrowed-brow concerns and worse yet, all this ridiculous "I'd rather light myself on fire than buy that stupid thing" commentary; all told among and between members of an online group that was formed because we all enjoy what is, arguably, the riskiest and most unnecessary sport on the planet: motocross. Did I miss the memo where we all agreed that a cautious approach to life was a GOOD idea?

Here's a simple but rather clarifying question for all you naysayers out there: did Harvey Mushman continue to race that heavy old Triumph once he found out how light a Husky was and what it could do, or did he buy one the moment he got the chance and never look back? Hmmm? And if you don't know who Harvey Mushman is, I'm wasting my time here.

Nrosso, take a little break man.

Okay, now returning this topic to its original programming.

I’d suppose I’ll have my wallet ready for the Varg Rev 2.

I have ridden the Altas and they had me just before I caught wind of them closing up shop.

We’ll see what the future holds and until then I’ll be brapping on…

Stamp it.

So then, anyone want to buy a shitload of well-used metric wrenches?

I put 2-3hrs on my bike per day at the track at b class pace.

That bike will last 1-2 motos for me.

That would not work for me. And many others.
Until you are routinely beaten by people on one, in which case you'd figure it out. If you don't race, then no one is forcing you to give up your ICE bike. Buy one if it makes sense for you.

For every bike they make available, I am 100% certain it will get sold. There are a lot of people who just want to ride around on their own property, or the property of others who allow silent dirt bikes.
