Sketchiest track you’ve ever ridden?

I’m gonna add Ryan Huffmans private track in Roseburg. Booters
That's an interesting take. I rode Clarks Branch near Roseburg in the 90's (also owned by the Huffman's) and it was usually in pretty good shape. Loved that track.

I was happy/vindicated to see Palm Ave. mentioned. What a bike and body beater. Crazy how many factory guys rode there in the 80's. I learned a lot at that track. Good prep for Carlsbad. Broke my scaphoid there.

I remember the first time I ever raced Hangtown during a national, my first lap during practice it was so rough I thought to myself there's just no way I'm going to get through the weekend. It was so much different than every time I had been there for a practice or local race. Every time I had raced there since, hasn't been as bad. But for whatever reason, that first one was just insane rough.

As far as pure sketchy-ness goes... another NorCal track most will know of Sand Hill around the 2007-2011 era. This place was so hard packed it was like concrete, and they would SOAK it. If you went out even close to after watering, it wasn't a matter of if, but when you were going to eat sh!t.
You ever race in Dixon? Some of my friends disagreed but I found it to be pretty sketchy especially after the damn wind almost blew me off the side of that huge hill turn they had.

The wind can get gnarly out there for sure. Dangerous at times. But idk if it would be fair to label the track sketchy.. the weather can’t be controlled, but track conditions for the most part can.

I just watched a video of shady grove. In one minute I saw a honda rider with #666, a side by side on the track, a grown man riding an 85 on track in jeans, and a pitbike. I think this has to be the winner lol.
It gets real fun when everyone is going in different directions. Last time I was there was to break in my 03 yz250. You have to drive through a junkyard to get to the track 😂🤣

I remember hearing we were going to Shady Grove, I thought, that sounds nice! It wasn’t what I expected, lol.

Dumb question but where exactly was Palm Ave? Is any of it still there? I see some trails behind San Ysidro high school, is that it?

Ironman LL regional 2014, the faces of the jumps were tilled like 6 inches deep, some of the jumps had footpeg deep ruts going off them with kickers in the ruts. It was gnarly. Felt like every moto I watched had a really bad crash. I signed up for 3 classes and only finished one set of all 3 moto's.

Any Australian SX or stadium MX track in the 90’s or 00’s, they’d use any fill they could get to build tracks and you’d end up with all sorts of construction materials in the dirt.

I can remember one race in particular where by the end of the night there was concrete blocks and reinforcing steel hanging out of the ruts.

For me it was Toes pro track in WA. Could barely roll around that sucker.

I haven’t been there in over 30 years, but I just looked on Google Maps, and it looks like there’s a Vons (right off the 805) where we used to park and head off to the hills.

Raced an International at Tarare France in 1978 on my Maico 440cc. This venue ran 500cc GP’s and Sidecar world rounds in 70’s and 80’s.
Start straight was about a mile long and they had concreted the tops of the many hills, presumably to stop erosion. Trouble was the earth before concrete wore away so you had to hit the base of the hill on full gas, then chop throttle and manual over this big solid lump. Hit it on the gas would just bounce you back away from the hill. Rest of track was full of rocks and shale, sketchy as hell but great fun and a massive crowd. Did okay, got 4th overall but missed podium as had to go rescue my friend Martin Smith from hospital who broke his wrist in second Moto. Made sure I collected our start money and winnings before I left.

Any sunbaked clay track is sketchy. You might as well be riding at a skate park.

2013 Loretta Lynn Northeast Regional at Budds Creek. Been there many times, it’s usually cared for well. But not this weekend. The track was rock hard and they didn’t touch it from fridays practice day till the racing was done on Sunday. It was the most dangerous conditions Ive ever raced on. Watched allot of riders get carted off that weekend

All depends on what you mean by sketchy...

Glassport PA after it closed and we used to practice there was basically riding on concrete with blue grooves and square edge holes.

Diamondback in Coaco Beach during the winter series was a beast on 80's. Some of those ruts would swallow the bikes whole and it was the roughtest track I've ever ridden.

I forgot about that place! Rode it in 97 or 98 and all I remember is I really disliked it. I think I rode Mosier the day before and that may have ruined it for me. You guys have such great tracks in the DFW area there was no reason for that place to exist. Where I grew up riding, home made private tracks like that aren’t out of the ordinary but the public tracks are nothing like what you’ve got down there. Village Creek was the best track I’d ever ridden, it kind of ruined it for me back here.
Village Creek in 97-98?
I was probably on the finish line flag stand.

The one that stands out for me wasn't really a track, but an outlaw riding place called 360.
It was pretty good in the 70's, 80s. A good free place to practice woods.

We decided to try it near the end of it's existence in the 90s, and in one day I hit a dune buggy head on, and nearly killed my self avoiding a family pushing strollers through the woods.
SMH... Really motherf%&*er? You couldn't hear 3 old 500s coming towards you?

Marty Smith's practice track off the 5 in Sorrento Valley. Thing was built on a hill with no flat land that I can remember, all off-camber turns and rock hard dirt. Getting to it was sketchy, too; you had to ride through a slightly less than head-height drainage tunnel under the freeway.
A million years ago I remember reading an article in MXA about Marty Smith and they followed him through the tunnel to his secret track.

Montreal Supercross 2012. Broke my wrist on the big triple in qualifying, tried to race the night show anyway. Was in position to make the main until I rear ended someone in the whoops and took a header over the bars.

MX23 in Mass, if you go on certain days the owner doesn't feel like waking up early enough to groom and will groom while people ride. And when you think you know where he is he will change lanes and be on the landing of the blind tabletop you're hitting. Good times

I only raced there once and it was a long time ago, but I remember being pretty terrified of Piru MX. It went from slimy wet clay to concrete hardback almost instantly. I remember the track being really narrow on a sketchy hillside, too. I have a friend that died there, too.

Another vote for Shitty Grove. The trashcan chicken was good at least. Only place more sketchy was the spot off 360, but it was more of an off-road thing.

I broke my Femur(2 places), Pelvis, Hip socket and Humerus all in one crash at Elsinore in 2006.. I went back in 2011 to get the monkey off my back and they were literally hauling a guy off with a broken femur as I was pulling in. I carefully rode a few sessions without problem. I visited again last winter and rode the Vet track and it was fine. Then I proceeded to break my left fibula on a KLX140 at State Fair the next day LOL

The sketchiest track in the NW is Eugene MX by far. They need a nonstop ambulance parade to keep up with the injuries' . Softball sized boulders all over the track and it quite possibly is harder clay than Elsinore.

I never rode it, but years ago Toes Mx in Washington built a Seattle replica practice track that looked pretty sketchy. The whoops looked like concrete jersey barriers.
