I would guess that development done by Fantic is used to create -22 Yamaha engine. It would be crazy from Yamaha's part to not utilize Fantic's experiences from the bike to create new model.

What I have heard the -21 125 Fantic's are really fast with a lot more top end power compared to old Yamaha engine but with less user friendly power band. Despite of that pro riders seem to like Fantic's power band

Haakon Osterhagen is currently leading super competitive EMX125 class aboard Fantic so that tells something about how fast the bike is

That was me. It looks very similar to the hgs on my wife's yz. Her previous yz125 was completely stock, her 20 model has the hgs pipe and vforce reed block. The new bike has a bit less bottom but picks up in the mid and screams up top compared to the old one. If the 22 model has a similar pipe set up and it comes with the vforce then a little cylinder refinement at the factory and I can see it being pretty close to the ktm

Never said my info was accurate, that's why I started my message with "I was told".
As some of you may know, I've got good connexions with the MJC racing team (EMX125 Yamaha Europe race team), that's why I've got these informations.

Another info I have concerns the rod. They told me the new motor is using a longer rod, that's why the cylinder is also different !

We should have more information in a few weeks when the first owners will part out these engines !

Never saw any proto's running in the Japanese nationals? I'm sure Yamaha and their pride would never admit to Fantic developing their engine?

Dude, why would they have a problem admitting that? They literally just moved an engine factory and the engine development for most of their small bore European motorcycles and scooters under Fantic.

RV rode it and said it was a little better in an interview. Kiefer seemed to hint on pulp it had a little less off the bottom after talking to the Yamaha guys and further mentioned his favorite thing about the current yz125 was the bottom end it has.

My thought is it's a 125 they are not going to be able to do too much except move the power around.

Thanks, top end is all I care about on a 125. If I’m at low revs I’m in the pits or something has gone horribly wrong Smile . I do think there is room across the board for improvement from the 2005 motor though. Surely we’ve learned a thing or two since then.

It's a shame they didn't copy the ktm center port and long rod designing suzuki did.... that engine was a real wolf in sheep's clothing

i couldn't understand a word they said but after reading through the subtitles it I think they said there's more low to mid with not much increase in top end power.

it should be relatively easy to get 5 more hp with the gytr kit on the highest revs when the stock engine is signing off.

if they really getting 5 more HP of the already improved/more powerfull engine- what HP are we talking now?
to get 5 hp more of a already high performance engine ist not easy!
I m still waiting on a comparison with a husaberg/gasgas/husqvarna/ktm 125 to be really comitted to buy a new YZ

Really felt the info here about the new 125 was mediocre at best. Not in depth enough for me when it came to the new motor.
