Sorry you couldn’t fly Brent, even knowing the rules in advance may just discourage travel due to hassle and time required.
We have all the tools to beat this virus but can’t come together to do it. Other countries labeling us high risk should be a wake up call. We should be world class in our management of this virus.
But, I’m not even going out to my favorite pizza place if they tell me that I may or may not have a loooong wait, may or may not honor my reservation, may or may not have a seat for me, may or may not have any more food once I do get seated, may not have any more beer...........
The unknowns are not worth the risk right now. Be patient, and we will return. Unless you want to take out a loan and send a team yourselves. Put your money where your mouths are. Are you willing to take the risk? If you are, go for it. I’ll even buy a tshirt or other merch to support the cause.

I think there are several (well, many, but too many to go into / speculate about) things that may be behind that.
Riders' Teams may have said No, to riders participation, being that it's in the midst of a continuing season.
Riders Themselves may have Not wanted to jeopardize their final standings in the World Championships, as that can be a hell of a factor in them having a job next year.
Those 2 points are but 2 of the the Elephants, no, the Mammoths in the room for Rider participation.
Then, we've got MA representative participation at an overseas event. Our National Sport Officials ( well a minimal few of them - I'm unsure if MA have a bunch of 'hangers on / specially privileged" freeloaders that other teams seem to always have) from MA need to be there. Travelling overseas is somewhat difficult, at the moment. Getting back and Quarantine is costly. And, our tiny sport, sure as f**k will / would get little to No help / concessions that, say the Olympic Teams got. It's wrong, but that's how it always bloody goes, isn't it?
Something that so many don't know, or, just don't get : Insurance.
I've travelled extensively, over many decades . Travel warnings / gradings have an enormous influence on Travel Insurance - not just on the costs of it, or it's actual coverage, it's down to if it's Even Possible to get. You go to a place that is regarded as unsafe, for any amount of reasons, and you won't get it. You go overseas, without adequate insurance, and something untoward happens to you, and you can be up s**t creek, in a dreadful way. And, not just in say, 2nd or 3rd World countries - go to the USA, get hurt, without adequate Insurance, and you can be in hock for MIllions. Now, years ago, you might get out of the country without paying the insane bills, and be faced with never going back to avoid said bills, but now, you'll be pursued to eternity.
So, I've always carried the highest Insurance I can get, wherever I go, whatever I'm doing. Except, when I did some NGO work a few years ago, where I accepted the risks of having Absolutely No Insurance being available to me. Yemen turned to Hell, while I was there, and I chose to stay, well past what was 'prudent'. But, it was my decision, and I'd sorted my affairs fully, before I went. My Family and Friends were/ still are set to be taken well care of at my demise, and, No debts will be left for others to handle.
Personally, right now, I could sit here and bitch about my plans to go to Italy this year for the MTB World Champs, the ISDE, the MXdN and then a few GPs, being curtailed, but I'd be a wanker, bitching about my "1st World" problems, and, I'll Not do that.
An example of the vagaries of Insurance, goes as far back as 1998 for me, when I competed at the World MTB Championships at Mont Sainte Anne. For the week and a half I was actually at the WCs, my travel insurance Would Not cover me. I Had to rely on CAs insurance for that period. And, that leads back to my reference to MA, a few paragraphs back. If they are responsible for Insurance / part of it for Riders and Officials, well, It may be damned well impossible to get with the whole Covid-19 situation. No, or Inadequate Insurance, well, a lack of 'duty of care' comes to mind when it comes to being in a Team selected and sanctioned by a Sport Controlling body.
Yes, it's Bloody disappointing to not have Teams at the ISDE and MXdN. Especially when we as a Nation just had representation at the World MTB Championships and the juggernaught of the Olympics, (and I'd easily accept that it may be down to MA's eff ups / idiocy/disinterest), and, our Government not giving a flying f**k about any sport other than the 'mainstream' ones.
Things are constantly changing, things are a sh*t fight.
Good on the Teams that have got to the MXdN. A fair few, from far afield. But, I'll Not put sh*t on those that are not there This year.
those who go are youre best willing to go , so A team
The restrictions are pretty heavy, non vaccinated people have a bunch of hoops to follow, plus be quarantined for 5 days, then test after your quarantine every 72 hours, if you test positive, you’re stuck in a hotel for 10 days.
I’m not understanding the hate America gets for not going, when the Australians aren’t going for the same reasons.
Anyway, well done for the adult teams who went and participated despite what seem to have been horrendous human conditions for others who would have not survived apparently.
Pit Row
Just curious.
50-60% of adults have been vaccinated in the US
Hannah, the great American hero refused to go until it came to the US. All the top guys refused in 1980, opening up the door for team Honda.
Even Stanton and Bradshaw refused.
Post a reply to: Kudos to the teams and riders that chose to race the MXoN
