Private tracks and closed course competition use only.

Manny,
My 2020 KTM 500 came with a Cat. It’s easily removable, unlike the ones that are built into the pipe on the 300’s/250’s that are Euro bikes. Are you sure about that ?

Street Models require cats. Off-Road models don't...yet.
Example: The Honda X and L are the same "core" bike; but, the L has all the street necessities like the Cat & all the blinkers & stuff...
The X has the same Evap, EGR and the rest of the stuff for the motor...but...no Cat.
The X is a good example of the kind of off-road bike that's legal in this new system.

It's always funny to see the don't come here comments. They are going there to get away from the Democrats policies and are willing to drop everything to do so. It will only make those states more red and CA more blue.

Wrong. You’d think that would be the case, but the ones fleeing in larger numbers are the ones who created the mess via their voting. They leave due to high taxes and poor quality of living, but then vote the same way and push for the same changes in their new place, turning it into a version of their old place while complaining about that being why they left. It’s a cycle that’s repeated itself many times. As far as I’m concerned it’s a mental disorder.

Will this not reduce the revenue for OHV areas? Also less registration, spark tickets.
Does this rule affect the SxSs?

Moved away from CA 4 years ago and don’t regret a single moment. If you can get out, get out while you’re ahead.

The people moving from cali are the smart normal fucks that think more like conservatives. The libs are staying in Cali for the most part.

Not in Arizona. Liberals are coming to the Phoenix area for jobs primarily, but most also claim they are fleeing failed government, crime and taxes. A large percentage are minorities and/or first or second generation Americans. Lots of folks from India, China and S. Korea. The white folks are the worst though, and most unapologetically liberal and in your face about it. Arizona has been leaning blue for a few years now and I don’t see it going back red in my lifetime, unfortunately.

The area is building and developing as fast as they can, but it’s not enough to keep up with demand from people leaving CA (and WA/OR). There are bidding wars for every home for sale. An average house in my area is now over $500K. Was closer to $300K just a few years ago. In many cases, houses are selling for $100K or more over asking price.

It’s not just the geo political issues they are bringing, but this desert can only sustain so many people. Resources are getting stretched thin but the state and local governments are seeing $$$ and kicking the can down the road just like the federal government on a larger scale.

Scary stuff.

So the people leaving are the ones who voted the idiots into office and the ones staying are the people that can’t stand the officials and policies of the state they’re living in?!

Got it.

I don’t blame them for being mad, but they might have to accept me here shortly, but I’m on board with their “stance”, if you know what I mean ! It’s beautiful up there.
I’m counting days at this point !
I’m up here in Coeur d Alene and literally like every other car I see is California. Pisses me off so much lol. Housing market is insane and CDA is packed

That’s the quick, scaled down version of it. Both are leaving, but there are a lot more of the people that created the mess in the first place. They far outnumber the rest of us.

What do you think the odds are that we may not be able to race a 22+ in district 37 big 6 in the future?
If it’s public land (govt owned, federal or state) I don’t see them letting you race a non registered bike. If it’s private land, then they can’t stop it. The go around for a lot of us will be out of state registration from a state that registers dirt bikes or has a off road sticker program.

This. Good question on the SXS’s, and quads too. I don’t know about other places but at Ocotillo Wells SXS’s outnumber bikes 10 to 1. I don’t see how they’re going to enforce this. And again, what about leaf blowers ? This isn’t about air quality.

They already closed that loophole a few years ago. Now out of state registered OHVs are subject to same restrictions. So if an in state 2022 bike isn't allowed somewhere then an out of state one isn't either. Out of state plated is more complicated but if you're an in state resident then registering your bike out of state is a misdemeanor.

SxS and quads are basically all green sticker already. It's not hard to add the necessary evap systems to them with that much room and weight tolerance and they're all already four strokes.

Yes right there in your link is a note and a link to the 2017 bulletin on the change in enforcement practice that nonresident OHVs will be treated as subject to red sticker riding restrictions. That means 2003-2022 with 3 or C in 8th digit of VIN seasonally restricted and that will mean 2022+ with 3 or C in 8th digit of VIN completely restricted.

Respectfully such a small rule for a bigger problem. Our system is broken and is being taken advantage of by groups with greater financial influence.

Take the simple federal law shift on federal land (the people’s land). The rule use to be, on federal land, if is not posted close in the area then you are free to do whatever activities you wanted. Trails, no trail, ride dirt bike, ride horse, hike, jerk off, smoke a ciggy, whatever. Freedom.

Now the rule has been changed to if it is not on some lame map and posted open for your particular activity than you can be cited. Control.

This particular problem is with our toys. The same thing is happening to our country and constitution.

I always love the days at the track meeting people from other states, countries. You are my people, brothers! What we need most is to ban together.

Edit: sorry got a little deep there😁

No mention of SB-227? Ok....

Anyway, SB-227 is supposed to address these concerns. The shitty part is once it passes it is set to go in effect as of 1/1/2023. So, 2022 competition ohv owners have a weird "gap year". You'll be able to ride your bikes on public land... after this bill passes and goes into effect a year later.

2021s and older are still red sticker until 2025. Then green sticker after that.

sb227 is in a dire state right now though, the Assembly Transportion Committee amended out all the public land access. I'm not an expert on the path to reinstatement of section 38015 but I believe Jones would have to convince the entire Senate to reject the changes, write them back in, and send it back to Assembly again.

If it passes as written now it only makes things worse, creating a mandatory competition sticker registration system for 2022+ bikes with extra fees but no public land access.

Well that sucks! I just read the amended text and yup, looks like shit. Hope they turn it around. I'm not paying registration on my '22 with the law as it is currently written. Fuck em.

The same guy that was asking UK and US governments for tax payer bail outs last year.

Newsome is now telling Californians to reduce water use.... presumably so there is enough left over for his wineries

I live in San Diego and I love it here. Came out here from New England 7 years ago and I would not move back. Expensive, yes, but the quality of life and living in a vacationland makes it worth it for me.

Based on this thread it appears everyone is moving out so it may get kinda lonely being here by myself in the future tho.....

Crazy stuff that I don’t completely understand how the text will ultimately impact us. Thank you for the info.
So I wonder will the local tracks be forced to police the race registration, like COVID regulations were enforced? And desert racing will not be allowed on “public land”?

I just picked up a '22 150SX. The dealer informed me of the new law but I didn't care. I only ride/race MX on a track. I've never really been interested in trail or other types of riding. When I was a kid there were lots of "tracks" to ride on around where I lived (Oceanside, CA) - they were just tracks we made that were located on someone's private property. Now all those places are gone - Home Depots, strip malls, etc. So for me, a race track is the only place to go. So the new law doesn't affect me right now. I do feel for all you guys who do the other types of off road riding though. I love California in general - but crap like this, the gun laws here, the liberals, definitely take away from the appeal for sure.
