The SX hangover is a poor excuse. KRoc seemed more wore out by the series than Webb. I guess being a metal assassin is more effective indoors.

Maybe not such a good time to be a CW2 jock sniffer.

TBH all the Austrian brands 450's seemingly are struggling with outdoor set-up/poor results.

Cooper Webb is a one trick pony. We used to call riders like him (I.e: MC) “specialists”.

Gotta love the haters, the man has a 250 OUTDOOR title as well. He is far from a one trick pony... Doesn't look like any of the steel frame bikes are doing to good this season outdoors...

Webb has wins in him. Those that rip him are the same sheep that say it’s the deepest 450 field of all time. Well , Webb is out there doing top 10 stuff in this field, looking like shit on the bike and going backwards from the gate drop but still top 10 in the deepest field ever!

I hope he can dial it in and can begin to post some podium finishes although then who would you hens talk shit about if he did?

One trick pony. Davis - man- no more drunk posting.

The year MC won his first SX title he finished a fairly close third in the 125 class behind two future 250/450 champions in Emig and Henry then MC won motos his first year on the 250 and in his second year he won the title.

He was definitely better at SX but he was still a top 3-4 guy in MX in his “off years”

Can’t compare Webbs “specialist” version to MC.

Yes its a poor excuse when you look at all the ”he’s so mentaly tough” talk this winter.

As it goes for the KTM’s in 3 different colors, it’s the riders, not the settings..

Facts are Facts! Webb races the 450 better on slower tighter tracks. He won SpringCreek when it was a mud show. He's getting his ass kicked outdoors (and I really should talk shit to his bitch ass fans), but I am going to let it go. Webb will figure it out and will be closer but he does not have Sexton, Roczen, Ciancirulo, Tomac speed in motocross.
He has the speed and fitness of all those guys. He's on a KTM. Thats the problem. IMO

Yeah, man…tell that to Dungey, Musquin, Herlings or Cairoli. The KTM just doesn’t work outdoors.

Euro guys don’t play by the same rules, different frames, etc. Austrian bikes have looked like ass so far in the nationals

i don't know why its an issue? webbs a supercross kinda guy, like Reed and MC are. and then some riders are better at one then the other.

Webbs a 2x SX champion. so MX isnt his thing at the moment. cant we enjoy the battle in MX that's happening and bring Webb into conversation if he has a great weekend or when SX comes around.

Oh, this again. He's like Reed and MC? So he's a top contender and will win a championship any year now? I've already addressed the Reed comparison, so...

MC finished 3rd in '94 in his first outdoor season in the premier class.

He won in '95.

He narrowly lost to Emig in '96 (injured)

MC placed 3rd in '97 on that Suzuki he hated while spending his week days partying at the lake. 3rd. With zero care about the championship.

MC is 10th all time on the outdoor win list.

It's straight up insulting to put Webb and MC in the same sentence for any comparison, outdoors or Supercross. Gee, Webb only needs 5 more championships inside... Hopefully he can string 4 of those back to back, at minimum, to be "like MC". Tack on another 50+ wins too. Oh, and get it done outdoors.

Webb is no McGrath, let's be clear about that. Webb remains way off the pace in MX, and fitness isn't the issue. Speed is the issue. I mean he is no dog but not in the top tier of guys at the moment.

He will get better...it only takes one moto to flip the switch as Eli just showed.

No, he is not even close to MC but he is a great racer. Everyone has times they are not feeling it.

Soooo - the Austrian framed/engined Husqvarna that WON the 250 class on this very same day - junk? Only asking because I'm trying to keep sharp and not get all fogged in by reality.

I agree 100%. Webb is a stubborn bastard and he will not give up. It wouldn't surprise me to see him win a moto at some point this year.

fuck settle down buddy, Feel like you've had that built up for a while now. so let it all out, have your rant..

I wasn't comparing titles or skill sense.
I'm saying these riders preferred the SX series over the outdoors.
hence why both have more SX titles than Outdoor titles. Both great at outdoors but the strong points are indoors
(hence the amount of titles)

Reed had a SX only contract, MC spoken openly about preferring SX.

Obviously Webbs not in McGrath's league yet. Well aware of this..

Crack a beer and relax a little

So you are saying Herlings was lying when he said there is not much difference between the US and the Eurobike when he won at the Iron man outdoor on Trey Cannards bike.
The greatest difference was according to Herlings the fuel and the exhaust which is in favour of the US bike.

Webbs best lap of the 2nd moto was 4 1/2 seconds off Tomacs at High Point. They had closer lap times in the previous 2 races. Which shows Tomac has finally upped his game, whereas Webb is still where he started. Even though East Coast races should favor Webb stepping it up, he still couldn't do it.
To see him 1 minute 30 seconds behind the leader at the finish, well I agree with previous posters. He is not going to win an overall or even a moto this year.
I didn't think he was going to be this far off the pace, but now I'm realizing he is a 1 trick pony.

Truth, villopoto criminally underrated and was the last one who had it all... for now.

I was one of the ones who said Webb would be a contender for this outdoor title and be better than he was years prior, so I have to admit I was wrong on that but I don’t think it’s fair to say he narrowly beat Roczen in SX. Roczen had the points lead at the halfway point and Webb ended up winning by over 30 points.

Sarcasm just doesn’t deliver in print, does it?

I was alluding to the obvious…Cooper Webb just isn’t an Outdoors guy, at least not to the degree he is a Supercross guy. The guys who are currently kicking his ass outdoors didn’t suddenly get 200% better than he is overnight. Webb is just better (currently) at the completely different game of indoor racing on an artificial track than those guys, and he’s better at the mental game too. The KTM is a great bike…in either racing discipline. That’s been proven over and over by many riders. It ain’t the bike!

So if they preferred outdoors, they’d have more outdoor titles? That’s all it takes, huh? Comical.

Big bores and Small bores are different bro, look at Yamaha.

Who on an Austrian 450 has looked great so far this summer? Bam in moto 2 at Pala? That’s it...

Wait - big bores and small bores are different? There you go again, pouring wisdom-inducing sunshine upon the dark hailstorm of ignorance within my brain. I'll admit, the KTM/GasGas/Husky 450 contingent hasn't had anything to brag about in terms of results this particular season, but um, injuries juuuuust might have played a role in that - no?

I speak, of course, of the REIGNING CHAMP who's out due to being injured, but last year won the whole enchilada on this "ass" bike you apparently find so lacking. I'm only feeling dumber as I read this thread, and the one-sided down votes seem to confirm it's been hijacked by that ever-present clique of gossipy weirdos/juvenile fanboys that lurks around here, so, "if you'll excuse me, I'll seek my enjoyments elsewhere."

Where have I heard that line before?
