I wonder if Eli’s agent floated this sweet rumor to get KMC to add a couple extra zeros to the new deal? Sounds like something an agent would do.

Would Tomac really start a new learning curve with a completely different bike and a new team at the end of his career?

Probably best for him at this point in his career though. Take that check and ride the blue pig into the sunset.

People thought Ricky was digging his grave when he went to Suzuki. Could be a good change.

No secret that Kawi likes to dump their top riders regardless of championships.

Honestly, I feel like Tomac on a Yamaha outdoors could be a beast. I don't really like his odds at SX on the existing bike and his riding characteristics but his bull dog approach outdoors with a beastly fire breathing 450 could be fun to watch!

Good for him for securing the bag, regardless.

Anyone else think Kawi reduced their offer to Tomac? I know he just finished third overall for supercross but he rarely had the speed of Webb or Roczen, to me he didn't look like a championship threat

This may surprise some of you, but I guarantee Eli rides the bike before signing anywhere
So, when does Malcolm test the Kawi?

This is just crazy, everyone knows motocross is 90% bike and 10% rider! Look at Justin Barcia, he looks soooo much better on Gas Gas than on the Yamaha. Just like when he moved from Yamaha to Suzuki, totally different rider. Paul Webb was a totally different guy moving to KTM, forget about the extra training, was totally all the bike. I mean, he said he wasn't able to do a full training day until the end of December because it was so intense, but that totally doesn't matter. All about the steel frame bro, Justin Barcia looked so much better this year at Salt Lake. He said the bike is sooo much better on the hard pack, it's why he was soooo much better. It's not like he is an east coast rider who would naturally not be as good on hard terrain, totally just the bike....

I don't really care what bikes they ride, these riders can overcome any shortcomings on any modern bike. He likes the feel of a cable clutch, will probably help him finish the mud races. I think Star is running air forks though, wonder if he'll like that feeling?

Kawasaki does have a history of dumping people pretty quick after a bad year for two. He seems to be in a slump compared to years past. (yes I know he won some races, but he was a mad man a few years ago)

I'll believe it when the PR drops... Nothing about this move makes sense imo. The rumors for this upcoming off-season have been all over the place it seems.

Regarding air forks, some teams run air for supey, ktm, star, perhaps others. And if he didn’t like them they would surely give him kit spring forks.

This really doesn't make sense to me, but maybe there is no where else to go if he wants off Kawasaki.

I didn't post that nor did I insinuate that in the slightest.. and you're accusing me of jumping to conclusions.

Seems early to sign when he has a whole outdoor series to do still on the KX.

I mean if Yamaha just throws money at you then sure. But it’s definitely the last bike/team anyone wants to ride for.

Lots of deals get done during SX. Look at RC and Suzuki, James and San Manuel, Ken and Honda.

This is the silliest season yet

Your first conclusion is they offered him more money. How do you know that? maybe Kawi didn’t make him another offer, or it was only for one year and he wanted 2. You then assume he doesn’t have as much desire to win because he might be switching teams for more money. Yea I’m pretty sure you jumped to conclusions

RC went undefeated on the CRF after signing with Suzuki.

Would you want Tomac or Marvin?

Not as easy to chose as it use to be. And Marvin is a great wingman. That’s worth something to any team.
