Sucks to go out like this. Every racer with a long career deserves that one last “fare well” race to soak it all in.

I’ve always been a fan of Davalos and thought he would do a few more years before retiring.

Damn. A great personality in moto. Always liked Marty. Best wishes to whatever is next on his list.

Dammit. Good luck Marty but that's a bummer. He's one of the guys I always look at first when I look at qualifying times to see if he's on.

Can't say I was a huge fan but the guy had great style on the track. Good luck to him and his family going forward.

Sorry to see him go, he showed so much promise last year I thought things were looking up for his career. Good luck!

I remember his first race in St. Louis. He was not afraid to send it in the whoops on that Yamaha. Great career and person.

Damn, that sucks. He always got ragged on for being in the 250’s too long. I don’t agree, I think they should be able to ride whatever class since it’s professional. Best of luck to him!!!

Had a nice long career, and finally got to show he had decent 450 speed several times. Sucks it ended a little prematurely but you've gotta know when to cut the cord. Who is the next guy out there who's had the longest career now?

Bratyon is still the longest tenured, and I think Blose and Chiz both debuted a bit before Marty

I would say Brayton (2002) followed by Chisholm (2004).

I really thought he was gonna have 2 more years before he called it a day. I really think his best 450 years were gonna be the next 2. When people talk about having a good style for riding a 450 he's always one of the riders i point out. Always felt like with his style and how you have to over ride a 250 to go those speeds didn't suit him.

Good luck in the future.

Total bummer!...but a hell of a career made that much more impressive by where he came from. He raced so well that he made Steve Matthes sweep the PC floors; nobody can ever take that away from him!

Actually Brayton was 2002 in the outdoor nationals, followed by Chiz in '04 and then Blose and Marty in 2006.

I went off the racer x vault which said brayton was 2004 but your right I looked up 2002 mx and was in the 250 class. That’s actually crazy he has been at it for 19 years!

I wish Marty the best in his post retirement phase of life...

Marty is also one of the last very few riders that Matthes has had a personal relationship with. He's gonna need to pound / pavement with the new generation of racers that have become the sport as we know it today. I don't mean that Steve is starting with a blank slate but all the racers that he kind of was a mechanic around an early media guy are all pretty much retired except for Marty who is now at the end of his career

I can't think of anybody else that hes known from start to finish buuuuuuuut, my post isn't about Matthes and his media Empire I want to tip my cap to Marty hes one of the few guys to have put for the long valiant effort is career when a lot of 250 races had a very good 450 careers ......whelp hats off to you Marty!

"I don't know what I'm dOOing out there!" Infamous quote from Marty regarding his 2021 450sx campaign. 😂😂😜
