Joey Crown update?

Edited Date/Time 3/8/2021 4:35pm
Is he okay? It looked like he was sleeping for awhile? That was scary and I thought he was going to get run over for sure.

Joey and that ClubMX bike were absolutely ripping those starts, too.

I think the helmet did its job, but this is the second KO of a rider in a Japanese helmet.

If I remember correctly, he had some serious concussions the last few years. Hope he will let everything heal well.. Get well soon

That was really scary. He was KO'ed longer than I've seen anyone before. Was really routing for Joey this year too....damn the ClubMX bike and gear look some good too.

He got up & walked away. He had the audacity to “wave to the crowd” and that made us all Roar & Scream.

The picture is Joey siting up on his own on the back of the Mule. He seemed to be ok.

I agree, wonder what would have happened if he was in something more advanced

Doesn't he wear Shoei though? Shoei has anti rotation tech so not a good apples to apples comparison to a AMart's crash with the Arai

Huh, it does, I didn’t know that. From what it looks like it’s only on the top of the head though where as something like mips almost covers the entire head. But it does look like it can absorb an impact and rotate.

If your head rotates in the shell, that top area crumbles and gives out. It’s a one use system. Speaking to Shoei, they found that most rotational forces push the skull into it.

I didn't know that they found that out. Interesting.

Rotational impact dampening is super important, but I do think people over emphasize it. The Shoei is a very well made helmet and likely served Joey as well as any helmet could have for that impact. Glad he was up somewhat quickly.

See definition #1 in a humorous sense. After seeing his crash right in-front of us...it was an awesome & bold thing to do

What I found odd was he pulled his goggles down back over his eyes to ride the mule away rather than just take them off. Also, for someone that was just very unstable they threw him on back of the mule with a lap belt and the mule driver went for a hot lap around the infield.

He was clearly not 100% in this world. I think they should have someone next to patient and not rush it.

Does anyone know what Munoz did to piss off Jerry Robin?
One of the red flags they are riding back and Robin gasses his bike to get up next to Munoz, seems to gesture then cuts into him a bit before riding off.
They were nowhere near each other in the race prior to the red flag....mistaken identity?

Munoz was like a heat-seeking missle with a malfunctioning guidance system. He absolutely torpedoed Sipes, if Sipes had not been there I'm not sure Munoz would have even been able to make the corner. Then he weeded himself at the over-under. And had a bunch of other close calls. He makes 2017 A-Ray look smooth....

If Joey has a recent concussion history it doesn't matter as much what helmet he's wearing. He will be more susceptible to concussion each time he hits his head. Broc Hepler and Davi Milsaps had to give it up or risk severe debilitating head injuries in their future.
He really looked good until he hit the ground.

I saw that too and was wondering what happened. From watching Munoz riding I assumed he got cut off by him at some point.

I have to disagree with you on the Sipes incident. Sipes cut down that corner as hard as he could, i don't think Munoz couldn't do anything there.

Otherwise, yes. Munoz is freaking sending it everywhere! Fun to watch for sure haha.
