Kudos to A-Ray for recognizing his symptoms and making the decision not to attend the race.

He was at the race. He practiced and than pulled out. He posted practice times. I'd be concerned with how this looks for Feld and AMA. He was already sick on Saturday. So it doesn't look good for the testing protocol Feld and AMA are using.

I remember before the season started someone mentioned that if anyone on a team tests positive the whole team will not be able to participate. Surely that’s not actually the case?

Ah, the impression I got from the Swapmoto show was that he stayed at the hotel. My bad.

EDIT: just re-listened to that section and he does mention he went to the track and rode first practice. I was listening while working....

Also, the title is very misleading for us Canadians as Rona is a big hardware chain up here, once French-Canadian, now owned by Lowes. I could easily interpret "A-Ray got the Rona" as A-Ray boned a girl who works at Rona!

Working in a covid ER at the moment. Covid isn’t the problem. And we aren’t testing for flu. Haven’t swabbed ONCE for flu. So do y’all think we will know if people have the FLU? If we aren’t testing for it ? Not trolling here, just pointing out what I’m seeing hands-on. Can’t say for sure if the rest of country and world isn’t testing for flu but makes me wonder. We are so hyper focused on the Rona that we may be missing a lot of other things we used to pick up on easily.

Also the covid positives I’m finding are people that live close together for extended periods and appear to have poor hygiene. Extreme poverty high risk.

So for ARAY to just be shooting the shit with other riders, I still think him spreading it to all the riders in these short scenarios probably doesn’t have the hugest probability. (If he’s coughing on people where he can feel spit on there face maybe.)

I can’t pinpoint why I’ve been in close contact with covid+ for extended periods of time and not popped hot. I have a n95. But the supply is so low in hosptials that in rewearing them and they don’t always have the best seal. No way around it. They can’t source more. For whatever reason. The images in the media you’re seeing with people in full hazmat gear taking care of patients—-I haven’t seen that once and I’ve been bounced around to quite a few areas. We are re using n95 masks placing them in paper bags and re wearing on a 5 day rotation and using gowns that are being laundered. There’s no scuba gear. No decontamination chambers before we go into rooms....these places are extremely limited on resources and it seems like grays anatomy makes it seem like we are all very well protected with PPE. Fake.

Poverty. Filth and living in close quarters it spreads. But if you’re generally clean. Shower. And keep your distance it’s a lower risk to get it. This is anecdotal personal hands on experience. Not medical advice and I haven’t studied it. So, there’s that to consider too. Maybe I’m just lucky.

The only data I can point to regarding influenza is my province's surveillance data:

http://www.bccdc.ca/health-professionals/data-reports/communicable-dise…

Basically we have no seasonal flu. Not at all surprising as we are semi locked-down, wearing masks indoors and avoiding people like crazy. I think most of us in healthcare already knew influenza would be reduced to little significance in the pandemic.

My question is what kind of test did he take. That PCR test is 90% inaccurate if cycled more than 25 times. The "WHO" finally came out and admitted it. Most places were cycling the testing 40-45 times to get a covid positive result.
I’m glad Pete and the boys came clean.

I've seen Rona almost kill a 27 year old healthy mechanic and cause ongoing lung issues. Guy can't walk up a flight of stairs without being winded. His father had it(they live together) first and all he did was lose taste and smell for 4 days.

Our VP had it at work. Late 60's, overweight and diabetic. He lost taste and smell and had abdomen pain for about a week. He has recovered 100% I was out to lunch with him the day before he lost taste and smell. 4 of us were at lunch with him for over an hour with no masks. None of us got it thank god.

It really is a roll of the dice on how bad you get it.

Same thing with my aunt. She is a traveling respiratory x-ray tech is her late 50s. She has been x-raying elderly covid patients daily for the last year now. She does not have antibodies but for some reason she doesn't contract it. There has been MANY times when proper PPE wasn't available too. Covid is weird.

Serious question; are you not allowed to get n95’s on your own and use them at the hospital? They seem to be readily available on the net. I went to the hospital once during COVID, and they made me through away my n95, and use their surgical style mask.

I don’t understand how and/or why every thread that mentions Covid ends up in the same shit storm.

“Rider has covid”

“Sheeple!”

On Swap Moto Live he revealed that he tested positive for Covid19 after feeling sick on the weekend and sitting out the race.

Hopefully he can shake it off like a muffler, get well soon and not suffer any lasting effects.
If only covid can be shaken off, he will be crook for a good 1-2 weeks possibly longer depending on his immune system etc etc etc

Much of this is unfortunately dictated by legal teams and unions. For example, here in Canada the nursing and health professional unions mandate that the employer supply the N95 to shift the responsibility onto them. I can only imagine in the American system the legal teams for hospitals/organizations do not want staff wearing self-sourced PPE as it might expose a legal risk if the employee were to have a bad outcome.

As for them making you toss the mask, I think that happens in many health care settings just to ensure the outpatient is not bringing in something considered "contaminated". May well depend on wear you are headed upon arrival, like the ER/surgery will want higher safety precautions than maybe going for an outpatient X-ray.

Not saying any of the above is ideal, just answering your questions.

Different hospitals have different policies. When my wife works covid patients in the ICU she wears something similar to this.

According to CNN, the flu disappeared.
It's almost like people are wearing masks and social distancing.

Wow, that sounds really interesting. Is there a website you can link that will allow me to read more about the PCR test issue?

Dang if that makes the flu go away so easy then I wonder why we haven’t been doing it for the past 20+ years!

Serious question; are you not allowed to get n95’s on your own and use them at the hospital? They seem to be readily available on the net. I went to the hospital once during COVID, and they made me through away my n95, and use their surgical style mask.
OSHA mandates that the employer/hospital provide the respiratory protection for their employees. It also requires annual "fit testing" for the specific N95 mask that is to be used to ensure that it fits properly and has a good seal to help keep the germs out. There's also the concern of the counterfeit masks that have been circulating. As for when you went to the hospital, pure speculation on my part, but best guess is that you had an N95 with an exhalation valve, which will not stop aerosols that you expel and negates the purpose you wearing of the mask (protecting others from the wearer, should they have the virus). I'm sure that also brings up the question of why N95s are important for healthcare providers. We wear surgical masks most of the time, but wear N95s without valves in the "highest risk" situations (airway procedures, aerosol generating procedures) because they help filter out those aerosols at times that patients can't wear masks and we're in close proximity.

Its right on the WHO website. They gave an update on it when they changed the policy on January 20, 2021 (yes, you read that right, it was on inauguration day). Go straight to the source and look it up.

Not sure if you’ve noticed but the measures have changed our lives slightly.
