At the start of the main last round, Webb / Webb's mechanic wrote red plate on the pit board and sat it against the gate and Kenny ultimately lined up next to Webb.

Nah, Kenny's got this. Ken's mechanic should have wrote on his pit board, "Where's Dean?"

But in response to the OP, I disagree, I really quite like 'head-games' in sport. Im sure, as fans we read far more in to it than these professional athletes do too.

The recently-departed Joel Robert was known to walk up to the starting line smoking a cigarette. He would walk up to one of his main competitors, give him a look, and then stub out his cigaratte on the cross-bar (or pad) of the competitor and walk away. He would then wax that dude by 30 seconds or so in the moto. When asked about these things later in his life, he admitted that much of it was just a mind game and that he really didn't huff a pack of Camels between motos.

Today it kinda seems like the riders are all pretty cool with each other and very gracious in victory and defeat. It's pretty cool to see that Coop is just an absolute DOG. Love to see it.

Agreed he just needs to stack some wins too soon or it starts to look a little lame

The U. S. peak may have been when Marty Tripes used to struggle with his weight and Bob Hannah's mechanic laid a big submarine sandwich on Tripes's front fender just as the 30 second board went up at a supercross. By the next race, the AMA had added an explicit rule about not interfering with another rider's machine at the gate.

I seem to recall that Hannah used to practice starts across the front of the gate and behind the gate while riders were there trying to psych them out. I remember hearing that somewhere. I also know that Jimmy Weinert used to do lots of head game stuff.

Webb is toast. His back problems won’t let him Compete at the level he needs to.

We'll, it has worked for him before so... Actually it's his strongest asset. He may not be the fastest or more technically gifted, but boy is he a competitor!

You left out the best bit; moments after Webb’s games, Roczen jumped hard out of the gate and cut across in front of Webb.
Webb tried to psych him out and got burned.

Feel like Kenny should have put the same message back on his pit board after the main and left it in close view of Coop at the podium...

Some of you all need to chill out a little bit, it’s all in good fun as far as I’m concerned, I don’t think you’re psyching a guy like Ken out with a pitboard Laughing

Kenny’s mechanic should just put any pic of Cooper with a hat on his board. Goofy bastard lol.
