Kid seems to have been overlooked or overshadowed by the other 17 year old's performance but a 9th, 8th and 6th finish is pretty impressive so far.

Agree, just needs to keep doing what he's doing. He picked up on a couple of Craig's lines for a couple of sections so he's going about it the right way for sure.

He’s definitely taking a very smart approach to the first season. Hopefully he continues to stay off the ground and just learn and take it all in. Very consistent finishes. If Forkner and Hampshire were healthy and on point Saturday Max probably would’ve been 8th again. I like his method of not overriding so far.

Are those shifters done at KTM Indian factory? First Barcia and now Vohlans broke during race.

....yet? The fact that kid is even being talked about this quickly, is a testimony to his skilz and speed!

Loved the pass-back on Mosmian. People were afraid that it was too early and he'd end up getting pushed around. Doesnt seem to be the case to me. He lacks a bit of speed but other than that he looks surprisingly good

Probably one of my favorite passes of these three races, the way he early on in the whoops changed direction and perfectly executed the pass back was beautiful!

The kid has a style of his own ! I love the way he rides, he lacks a bit of the speed but it will come soon enought and it is only his first pro races ! He seems clever and will be even better in Mx

Im cheering for him. I went up to him last feb at pala and said hello. Told him I was canadian. He brought up and chatted about several Canadian riders. It was a great chat. Im a fan.

Watching him the other night, he has great style, it's that same sort of ultra-forward positioning that we see with Jett and Chase. I think he is logging solid finishes- and I really enjoy watching talented kids like that when they jump into a class, because they make such noticeable gains over the course of the season. Hope he stays healthy and just keeps learning, after watching him in action I can see why he was chosen for that ride.

For those not impressed, wonder if Big Air Tom would've been happy with an 8th in SX??

Such a nice kid. We camped next to him at AZ Open a few years ago when he was in superminis. And he shares the same first name as my son. I will always root for that kid. And he is fast. Guys saying he hadn't shown speed yet, you do realize he jumped from amateurs to SX in just a few months? This is a learning year for him, and I'd say he's learning quickly.

He’s a pretty rider to watch, for sure, but he was about 1 turn away from getting lapped, so he’s definitely off the pace of the fast 17 year old in the class. I’m not believing the hype quite yet.

The other 17 yo is starting his 2nd year. Compare year one to year one.
Not down playing Jett at all but, both are doing great.

Yep and there was no "hype" around Max. If anything it was all concern that he wasn't ready.

No need to with the way these other hyped up kids take themselves out (e.g. Forkner, RJ).
I'd throw Shimoda's name in there as well as a kid who is going about this correctly. No need for flash and speed right now...play the long game and you'll be up there in the end.

Yeah. Shimoda is crazy consistent with his performances, really impressive for such a young rider. I think he turns 19 later this year?

He'll fight for titles in the 250 class if he can maintain that and add the extra 10% pure speed that he lacks compared to the elite 250 riders.

Not saying Max is not fast but comparing Max to Jett. Remember in Jett;s 2nd (3rd?) SX race (as a 16 year old) he was a few turns from winning it.

As far as self-improvement over three is concerned, it's essentially the same performance as last weekend since two faster riders were out. Not to take anything away from him, he looks amazingly controlled for his first three supercross races and you gotta think his ceiling is pretty darn high considering his age and starting point.

He was riding in third place for several laps of the main at the pace of the leaders and looking comfortable doing it. He probably doesn't have the stamina to last at those speeds though so he chilled out and brought it home in one piece.

The way he looks when he rides is the same way I look while reading an article titled "the negative effects of bad posture"

Oldenburg has been on the podium several times before, and Osby is a solid veteran. Vohland beating them is definitely promising. It's been brought up a million times how he wasn't even supposed to be pro yet, but it's worth appreciating that he was on a 125 a year ago. Most young rookies spent a lot of time on the 250 before going pro.

Everytime I see an interview with him I think to myself, that guy has a healthy respect for the sport and a good head on his shoulders. At his age it's easy to think he might be in over his head, but so far I have the impression that he's riding way within his ability and not "sending it." He seems to be using the knowledge and experiences of his dad, uncle and Roger to his advantage quite well I'd say.

Correct. But we are talking speed here. Tell me a rider that has not been injured, made a mistake. Part of the game I say.

Oldenburg beat max first 2 races.
Oldenburg not the rider he was when he was on yamaha team.
Didn't max also go to Europe for a round or 2.

Max rode a 125 in Europe, not a 250.
