Even though I wear a mask, I'm not convinced they help. I know a number of people who were very careful and always wear a mask who got covid.
Wisconsin has had a mask mandate since August, yet their infection rate is much higher than Georgia where they've been wide open since the lockdown. Remember everyone complaining about the Georgia Governor, even Trump said it was too soon.
Many saying he's going to kill people? Btw, Florida is much the same as Georgia. Wide open and low infection rate

Bottom line, I don't think we know how this damn virus spreads for sure. I just think some will get it and some won't. Until the vaccine is out it's just going to be like this. Sad but true.

Check out this study Denmark did on masks:
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/18/health/coronavirus-masks-denmark.html

Btw, I had covid last week. Felt like shit for a few days , headache and stomach then lost my taste and smell Friday. Felt much better Saturday and starting getting my taste and smell back yesterday. About 90% right now
Glad you're ok brother

I’ve seen no more than 10 people in the store since March without a mask. It’s all social media/media bullshit.

For real. I don't think I've even seen 10 myself.

Florida lead the nation in new cases and deaths yesterday....
Florida has about the same number of deaths (to date) as California. But half the population. Sounds like things are going great there.

Right.. When I enlisted, I went down a conveyor line of shady vaccinations. 23 years later, I can still bust loads on my wife’s ass, and I still have all my hair. Send it

I'm talking infection rate. My point is theres no pattern with masks. Georgia and Florida have been wide open for a while now, but they're on the low end of infection rate. Hell, here in Indiana we're spiking a good bit and we're not wide open. Go figure.

Florida and Georgia both have about the same cases/population as the USA at large. Florida is testing at roughly the same rate as the country.

But Georgia ranks 38th in test/population. They are testing about 25% less frequently than the country.

Georgia has the 13th-highest positive test rate (10.4%) in the country. The national average is 7.4%.

Thats the data that the blog guy was basing his whole theory on, his argument was that mask compliance is high and the cases keep rising so masks don't work.

I was saying that even if you assume that data is RELATIVELY accurate as I said, if you compare that mask compliance data to the cdc cases per capita data it shows that masks actually do work.

I agree with you, using a social media poll as your main source of data is stupid at best.
Well, if CDC data matters... 👇

Their effectiveness is keeping sick people from transmitting, not healthy people from contracting.

Regardless, they do serve a purpose. But like the closures and lockdowns, that purpose has been heavily exploited.

Mask or no Mask doesn't matter it's almost a free country we all can do what we want.. Wearing a mask while pumping gas open doors to your local Costco and Safeway or Drug store and Cannabis shop, but then you take your mask off get in your car rub your face rub your eyes and nose, you maybe get Covid and think wow those masks are shit they they don't work WTF LOL and yes i have done that we all have

I know it has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, but is anybody riding or racing Glen Helen this week? Tongue
I really hope the wind stays away this weekend. I have finals this week but if anybody wants to meet up next Tuesday or Thursday I might be in.

If you read into the control measures and cases where businesses are implementing those controls on your first picture, it just reinforces what I posted 🤷‍♂️

Wear a mask, wash your hands, distance your self socially, and you still may get Covid. However, it's a lot more likely that you may protect yourself in the one instance you would have contracted the disease, and that is why we're being asked - not told - to wear one. When they start rounding people up in concentration camps for not wearing masks, then I'll panic. (And be thankful we still have a 2nd amendment.)
If you don't wear a mask, more power to you. I'll wear one for the same reasons I wear seat belts and helmets: because both have saved my life on occasion.

The conclusion of the study is that the most likely places of exposure are where masking and distancing are most difficult, restaurants, bars, coffee shops. 88% of covid negative subjects reported going shopping in the last 14 days. Just about everyone at stores has a mask on. Half the positive subjects reported going to a restaurant, bar, or coffee shop, yet 70% said the wear a mask "all the time"? You can't eat and drink with a mask on.

They had practice today and Thursday as well. The only request was for overnight camping not to be allowed but the races are still on for this weekend.

I corrected and apologized for misleading but I guess it kicked off a Covid rant. Sorry again. Shit, this is worse than an oil change thread.

First responder here. I have friends who wear n95’s at all times while working test positive for covid. I’ve been lucky and haven’t.

It’s a virus. We do what we can but there’s no guarantee.
