This is not exactly Moto-Related.....but I feel it kind of is.

Brigadier general Chuck Yeager has died.

If you, like I, value Courage and the desire to push boundaries, you will mourn this man's passing.

I encourage anyone who reads this to Google or YouTube his name.

You will be astonished at what he accomplished.

It is serendipitous that he left on Pearl Harbor Day.


This man's accomplishments are unbelievable, even in the era of the Pastrana/Maddo/Baumgartner/etc.

Take a moment to think of and appreciate the real OG extremist....Brigadier General Chuck Yeager.

I encourage everyone to read The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe. I think there are a lot of parallels between the psychology of the test pilots described within and what I see at the mx track.

Dơes anybody else remember Mr. Yeager dôing some aerial stunts over the Carlsbad USGP in the late 70's? Great man and a true American hero. Godspeed....

The only book I ever read twice was, "Yeager" the first Chuck Yeager biography (great book, btw). That man was a true American bad ass, and someone I considered a hero. RIP General.

One of my hero's as well. Read his bio, The Right Stuff is one of my favorite movies. There is a line in that movie that I love. He crashes an F101 (I think that's what was) he tried to set an altitude record in. His buddy Riddly and another guy drive out into the lake bed toward the smoking crash site. The guy driving the vehicle says is that a man? Riddly answers your damn right it is. Always loved that line. He did it all in aviation. True legend.

I was in the Air Force stationed at Edwards AFB in 87. I was going into Pass and ID to renew my ID card. There were to sets of doors, as I was going in he was coming out. I bumped right into him. I new who it was immediately. I was frozen. He smiled at me and went around. 30 seconds I'll never forget.

His autobiography is great. His "ace-in-the-hole" in dogfights was his eyesight. In WW2 the other pilots were amazed by his ability to see the enemy long before they could. He was a world-class squirrel hunter as a kid in W. Virginia. Smile The stories of his time while stationed in the Mojave desert are bad ass... like taking down a tree with the wing of his plane while his buddies watched. They partied hard and got shit done.
