Where’s shimoda going?

Edited Date/Time 10/16/2020 6:07pm
He rode solid at the end of the year and would love to see him get another factory ride. Does anyone know where he might end up?

Gas Gas? Truly just speculation but would be a good fit. Not “the guy” but also not the rookie.

Seems everyone thinks every rider is going to KTM/Gas Gas ....so either they have one fucking big budget or they dont want the riders on anything but an Austrian bike?

GasGas is fairly wrapped up. He could be green, red (original) or yellow...I hope he stays red though.

I've often wondered what kind of money he could make going back to Japan and racing. He without a doubt would win a lot of races and put a whooping on Yamamoto, Narita, and Tomita. He would be a national hero over there, just not sure the money would be enough.

Hopefully PC? I think he would be a good fit there. Same with Mumford. Any 250 team would be crazy not to scoop them up right now

Question is, what team is going to get the 5 or so factory 250F bikes that were allocated for Factory Connection for 2021?

HRC can't have just two 250s out there racing supercross with the Lawrence bros.

Who is a second tier Honda team right now that could replace Factory Connection?

I hope he lands somewhere good. I think he will only get stronger and I like his style. He’s very overlooked and his technique isn’t mentioned that much. Seems like all the young Honda kids have great technique, they just needed a likkle more horsepower sometimes

At the moment there’s an opportunity to keep him on red but it’s not under our tent. We are currently putting together an offer for another rider though that would look familiar on a Honda. Hopefully I can get the offer presented next week, just waiting on a couple things to fall in place over the next few days.

FC built those bikes and developed them, they aren’t from HRC.

Where do all the parts go?

Transmissions, motor parts, TI, wheels etc. etc.

Are you in a mad scramble to get some deals? 🤣

The team has some amazing assets, parts, supplies, etc. Some will return to Honda as the 250 program goes in house and some things will be available to purchase. Working on a few items I’d really like to get my hands on.

Between myself and a few other of the Honda programs, hopefully we can keep a lot of this stuff in use on red teams. Very thankful to the FC crew for some of things that are being passed on and sold. Still bummed that this is coming about though...really bummed.

I’ll take one of those HRC batteries with no fuse and 1/2 the weight if you have some spares ML!!!

Since Jo is a solid rider of Japanese descent, I find it hard to believe that Honda would leave him out in the cold. I’m quite confident that they will find a way to support him with the best equipment available. The problem is, without the resources of the Geico Team pushing development, it will be interesting to see how much his equipment continues to improve.

Consistently top 10 in Nationals by over the last half of the series with a final moto podium.

3rd overall in 250 SX East in his rookie year.

Dude is more than deserving of continued factory support. Once he gets some more confidence/experience, I truly believe he will be lethal indoors. Such a smooth rider who doesn't make many mistakes.

One way or the other Jo will have some or full factory support from Honda.

Besides the smooth style, which others have mentioned, how impressive is it that he passed McElrath, stalled then passed him back with three laps to go at Pala, a track where McElrath tests all the time?

I agree, and with only a rookie season he is already the best japanese rider of all time in AMA series ;

With the proper equipment, he has the potential to win a title within the next 3-5 years which would make history.

Indeed it is hard to believe but till Geico Honda signed him, it was KTM Japan that was supporting his dream from racing in America... He was racing in the USA on KTM's on KTM' Japans dime if I'm not mistaken. Just to say that the big Japanese manufacters are idiots if we talk about Japanese Motocross riders.

Yup. Went 1-1-1 at LL's in 2016 in supermini 2 IIRC.
