So much drama over a guy who was an also-ran most of the season....

Dude, every single one of us here has left a race before they hand out trophies -- sometimes even when we're due one.

Do you hang around work once your shift/day is over to pep up other employees?

Maybe him and Ferrandis don't like each other .

That team has had zero unity for many years. Its a management problem not the riders in my opinion. Great bikes and riders with zero "team" environment.

You guys know this isn’t baseball right? The word “team” is pretty loose. I think vital is crying more than cooper

Yeah but I figured he’d stay and congratulate the winner.. Just thought it was strange but he’s a grown man and free to leave I suppose.
When you're racing for paychecks caring about sportsmanship is for suckers.

Sorry bro! I will try to step up my game!
Does this mean I have to ask your opinion before I post?

Seriously, I think this says more about the Star Team rather than Cooper. They essentially stole/denied him bonus money and sent him packing. Any rider would be pissed.
The Jett/Cooper Instagram spat was funny. Given Jett's personality, I seriously doubt it was ever serious.

Slightly off topic but how the hell did you both end up with patrick potato?

As far as Cooper leaving early, its his deal....many good reasons to leave the noise and dust early.

I poached it from the Whiskey Throttle show.

The goal is winning races and selling motorcycles/energy drink. Whatever "team environment" they have established is absolutely destroying the competition over the last 6 years. It doesn't have to be rah-rah. Maybe wanting to be the Alpha dog on the top team is their motivational tactic.

But it doesn't actually matter. This is a pro sport. Winning management is good management.

The team pays Cooper to race, not hang around all day and celebrate others accomplishments.

If he cleared it with Star management, no problem. They are his employer, and it’s not unprofessional to request an early exit. However; if he just walked, that sets a tone...

He said on IG today that they tried to get the bike figured out but it was too big an issue to ride moto 2. He was just frustrated after riding well in moto 1 and not being able to back it up. Season is over, go home and relax.

I don't understand the "early exit" statement.

Cooper is paid to race and to conduct PR with fans. His racing was done for whatever reason, and there was no after race autograph session to attend. He's not an employee on the clock, he is an independent contractor.

I dont understand the needless drama over the dude leaving when his job is done.

What do you think this is, some amateur soccer or softball league where the "boys" go for a drink and celebrate after a win?

These men are professionals who race dirt bikes as their job, they come to the track, race, and go home. the "Team" is owned by businessmen who contract athletes to ride their motorcycles.

Do you expect them on race night to be around a campfire with beer and a Yamaha flag celebrating?

I can tell you, on practice days the champion Ferrandis is the first one to leave after he finishes riding. these guys don't socialize together, they have wives and families to do that with.

I worked in professional motorsports for 15 years, and won championships i know how it works .

When your team wins the championship, they want a picture for the wall, and everyone is expected to be on it.

When our team won , against the odds, they bussed every member of staff from the factory, to the event , just for that purpose.

And then you party.

Or do you do it differently when you wrap a championship ?

Moto isn’t a team sport. Seen how well that worked out for JS17 at monster cup a couple years back being a great “teammate”... Who cares if he left, when did moto turn so soft?

bet AC did not expect Tomac to chase him down and pass him with 2 laps left either.
