I thought one of those hotties was or ended up being his spouse?

For some reason makes me think of the Phunk Junkeez.

Jeffro always had style and the 'cool factor.' I was always a big fan, as a kid. He is the man.

Gotta agree, Back in that day, racers were rock stars and premier tail chasers. Nowadays...most of your top guys are married with children, and are pretty settled down.

I wonder what racers, if any, run as hard as Emig did back in those "party days"? Any guys with "reputations"?

LBZ!!!!!!!

'Fro is a really nice guy. Don't care what anybody ever says he's said or done. The way he treated my baby daughter, Destiny, at Glen Helen endeared him to me forever. Wow, that was like 20 years ago.

He was walking the track at Troy one year and walked over to the fence where I was standing by myself and just started bs'ing with me. Asked me if I rode there and asked for advice on a section. I told him that he was at least a gear higher than me so my advice wouldn't help. He laughed. Pretty cool dude.

If A Ray is the best this generation has to offer then the proper answer to the question is NONE.

No offense A Ray. But SX champs are a whole other level.

Sooo many Emig stories from the mid-late 90's. I was living in SD at the time and riding Palm Ave regularly as well as attending most of the SX's and after parties. Definitely enjoyed himself and his status in the sport. I have never asked if he would change any of it given what happened, but he knows he took it a bit too far. Mad Mike and his Red Bull credit card about the same time paid for some hefty bar bills. The 90's were fun.

Cell phones killed those days. Even though he was married, I'd guess CR22 is the last of the Mohicans that knew what that life was all about. I'd love to hear some of Reedy and GL's stories.

For conversation purposes:

How would a modern day top rider be viewed if he ran this kind of lifestyle, but still performed when it counted? Is there even room for consideration for such a thing, or is the bar that ridiculously high now that it is simply unfathomable? Let's go the clean route only for the sake of somewhat high brow conversation, PC and reality with drug testing etc.

Example: Young, top rider A has a great event and result, enjoys the after party, then shows up again the following week and puts in another solid showing.
