J Mart to GasGas?

I was thinking about this over the weekend and then Matthes mentioned it on Pulp. In my opinion it makes a ton of sense. With Barcia staying at Yamaha there are no guys out there that are legit top 5 outdoor contenders in 450 week in and week out except for J Mart. Not saying he is guaranteed to be top 5 but if he raced next year and took 3rd through 5th in the championship it wouldn't be the biggest shock ever.

Of course this is only if the FC Honda team can't find sponsorship.

Opinions?

With the current 450 field i dont see jmart being a top 5 450 guy. That being said he could be a solid choice for red ktm no doubt.

I think it’s a great move, I feel like he deserves a 450 shot. he’s an animal outdoors.

Took the words out of my mouth. As much as I like J.Mart...I don't see him being routinely top 5 in the 450 class. Just don't see the same raw speed. Hope he proves me wrong!

In the field that’s currently racing outdoors, he would absolutely be a factor

JMart could definitely be top 5 outdoors. He’s got great style that would adapt to the 450 perfectly, IMO. He’s a threat outdoors no matter what. Any team that doesn’t give him a shot is completely stupid. Look at what Osbourne is doing this year. Look at AC also. Yeah, Martin bested both those guys multiple years in the 250s.

He also is a multi-time outdoor champion so he knows what it takes. And he’s got great race craft. And he’s a decent starter.

What’s to think he wouldn’t be a threat outdoors on the 450s???

How does he not have “raw” speed? That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard. How does he win two MX titles, and also winning races this year after a serious injury, but he doesn’t have that raw speed?? Please explain.

I see a multi time champion still winning races. What more do you want?

He’s too tiny for a 450.

Didn't he have a good finish at Daytona in one of his one off 450 races?

He has said his honda is slow twice in the podium. I can imagine what the bosses at Honda think when they heard that.

I wouldn't write JMart off, I think he can run top 5. He has good speed and he is fast off the start, the start is a good part of the battle these days.

The red ktm's manufacture 350's too. He's the perfect candidate.

Finished 2nd. Led a lot of the race and held off Tomac for a good while. I was there, it was a great race to watch.

Vital Brain trust:

1) "Dylan Ferrandis is going to crush it on 450s; look out."

Statistics:
Jeremy Martin just took the 250 points lead from Dylan Ferrandis

Vital Brain trust:

2) "Jeremy Martin can't take a 5th outdoors on a 450."

Put on on an orange white or red Austria bike and he will haul ass. Anyone that thinks he is too small for the 450 class. Isn’t he the same size at BB4

Ferrandis will crush it on a 450. Will probably be better in both disciplines but JMart will still be great outdoors

Top 5 finishes or top 5 in points? I'd say yes on the former, and no on the latter. The 450 class is going to be fucking stacked next year.

Seriously, JMart is also a multi time National Champ. Something that Ferrandis hasn't done yet and is losing momentum towards this year.

But hey, lets not let facts get in the way of a good story.

Seems to me like he has the same color backgrounds as everyone in the field except JMart. That meant something last time I checked.

And if you watch his demeanor and how he's riding he looks like a champion right now.

Dylan has too many mistakes with his starts to crush it on 450s. Cant start 15th and catch webb tomac sexton ac osborne or marv.

I'd love to see something like this happen...but, Honda would have to be OUT OF THEIR MINDS to let him go IF he ends up being the 2021 250 MX Champ. Also, J-Law II hasn't shown consistency...yet. I say..."yet". So, Jeremy is their obvious "fast guy".

I'd also love to see him in TLD, with a Red Bull Helmet and on a 450. I, personally, believe he's identical to ZachO in his abilities and "smarts". So, yup, I'd be stoked. ANd, as others have pointed out and one of my fellow "Old-Schoolers" witnessed...J-Mart CAN ride a Fo'Fiddy!

But, I can't see Honda letting this happen. Letting him go is soooooo not smart. Hell, between him and The 23...the future at Team Honda/HRC USA good be VERY GOOD.

Btw, Geico or No Geico, I don't see FC Honda "going away". On the other-hand, the Title Sponsor Money that I hear they've been getting...well...I have NFI where they're gonna find that kind of money...else-where. The folks that run that team are Top Notch and I'm probably under-estimating their abilities to find another sponsor...hell, I -WANT- to be wrong and truly hope I am. That team has kicked ass and is a pain in the as for every other 250 team in the paddock.

In my mind, NOT having a title sponsor and Honda being wise enough to provide FC with a few more dollars to KEEP the bike looking like a "Honda"...you know...like the way the HRC bikes look...would be very "Honda"...as in Old School Big Red Honda...like they were back in the day...
When they KICKED ASS!

Hey, I have no problem eating my words if I'm wrong. I'd love to see J.Mart do well. Being someone with a fusion myself its extra awesome to see someone else with a fusion killing it.

I agree completely that his race craft and championship winning skills are very strong. Quite Dungey-esque to me. Consistency! Yes, dumb maybe, but in my mind when I think of 450 guys such as Tomac, Webb, Roczen, Musquin, Osbourne, Sexton, Anderson, and soon to be Ferrandis..I just don't see him topping those guys every race. Maybe top 5 was a bit too critical. One thing is for sure, a few of those guys have issues with being consistent..so maybe that will be where/how he shines.

Look forward to seeing it.
