Yes, this is still considered littering. Just like fold up chairs and empty cans/bottles. I don't know if it's because there's a crowd around that makes people think it's okay or if they think they're doing someone a favor by leaving them a "free canopy" but someone (typically the track owners/workers) still has to go around and take them all down and deal with disposing them.

Trust me, it's a pain and leaving them behind is not a generous move. Shit just get's tossed in the bin. I've helped tear down some tracks just out of generosity and boredom because I'm typically there by myself and stay overnight. You'd be amazed at the amount of stuff people leave behind because they're too lazy at the end of the day to pack it back up and take it home.
Pit Row
Taken from a RedBud FB thread that Tim Ritchie posted in.
As someone who has worked organizing races, it would be real easy to say 'fuck it ' and not bother, seeing what people leave.
People heap their junk in a bag and drive off and leave it, i have chased people and said ' you forgot this' ..
On the flip side a friend got all sorts of grief because he didnt have the full set of dirty kit that someone had stuck in a black bag, and then left by accident. Apparently they should have checked what was in the bags.. a reminder that they would still have it if they took their crap home with them wasnt appreciated.
