So was the stupid unpopluar opnion thread, however this actually has value. It's an ugly part of the industry people want to turn a blind eye to.

the fkin things need banned. LOL

picking the piles of them up, because dad loaded up 15 on the kid's goggles that is 4 laps dry, and well they still pop them every jump to look cool.

Same in some places in Europe too. This is not a new thing exactly.

It absolutely makes sense to ban them, especially since there are (better) alternatives. Unless they make biodegradable tear-offs.

Love tear-offs.
Coal seam fracking don't like that. Crazy consumerism don't like that. Cruise liners don't like them.
Just my opinion only.

It’s such a waste and nowadays I think it also gives the sport a bad look. On TV for example.

Sounds like a million dollar idea, bio degradable tearoffs. Im not going to claim to be a "environmentalist" however I do want to keep our land grand. I always make it a point to pick up a few tear offs when im out on the trail and I see them.

Tear offs probably contribute to less than 1/1000000000th of the trash on the planet

I don’t think biodegradable tearoffs would be that hard to make. Cellulose based films that deteriorate after being soaked for a period of time would probably work. The challenges would be:
- clarity, particularly when in a thick stack
- bonding: stacks of tearoffs would probably have to be laminated to limit water ingress between the layers so the layers wouldn’t bond together and seize
-storage: packing would probably be single use because an opened pack would absorb atmospheric moisture

Yep ban em, while we're at it, ban rubber tires, plastic parts, asphalt and concrete, water bottles bags....and most destructive of all, humans, we're trying to save the planet right? Sarcasm....

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t pull tearoffs on trail rides. I might put one on my lenses to protect them but I won’t pull it usually. I don’t throw my snickers wrapper on the ground either

Tearoffs on a motocross track and roll-offs for offroad. The tearoffs can be picked up at the track.

What’s the difference between throwing a Snickers wrapper on the floor or a tear off ?

They are definitely bad for the environment, just like burning oil in my 2-stroke is. I'll try to make it up somewhere else.

We would give a kid a free entry to pick up at the track I helped run. No different than picking up the other trash around the place.

Yes, tearoffs should be our number 1 concern, Can't you see how many tearoffs there are in these pictures?? Lets just have a little perspective here. I agree that they aren't the greatest thing, but everything is a tradeoff.
