On the SwapmotoLive podcast yesterday Swap and Anton were saying that Jimmy Perry and Dyno Dan had both been let go by factory Yamaha. Anyone have details?

What's the point in coming back a few years ago chasing JGR away then handing it off to Star? Was it really all about Cooper Webb? Seems a little short sited to resurect a team to close it a few years later.

With Star taking over there's no room for Barcia, they've their hands full with AP7 DF14 & SM12

Why would Yamaha spend a shit load of money on a new team hauler and then broadcast it all over the moto media to only close their team down? There haven't been any press releases about any contracts or signings. All these people on here stating facts about things that haven't happened yet.

I’m going to have to agree with Slumpstone on this one, I think he knows what he’s talking about.

Its not that hard to read between the lines when you sit back and look at everything and where everyone is going next year. Its also not hard to get the information before its released. That slumpstone guy who said theyre not coming back next year and that star gets it is savatgy's dad. Id think he has a good understanding of whats going on.

No disrespect to Mr. Savatgy I'm quite sure he is sincere and telling what he beleives to be correct, but I doubt Yamaha or any other factory management has direct discussions of their future plans with him. He hears speculations, hopes and rumors within the industry. I doubt Yamaha is closing down the factory team as they have very recently injected money in to it and added technical personel. They also have AP7 under contract for another year. Also Barcia has been their most successful rider in some time and he is popular. DF is a hot commodity at the moment, but 450 rides are scarce and money is tight. I also could see a change in their management based on the poor development of the factory 450s and poor rider development. I also would not be surprised at all to see Star as an additional 450 team based upon their great success with the 250s. Remember when Honda loaded up with talent and signed Lusk, Windham, Tortelli and the other French guy. Yamaha might be trying to load the dice by signing several top guys for the 450s.

So no factory 450 team with Ferandis and Plessinger ? Plus a star team with Craig and another rider like McElrath.

It does seem weird that Factory Yamaha is going away if they just purchased a new semi. Since when is any factory in the business of purchasing a private team a brand new semi? Maybe it was part of the deal for Star to run a 450 program?

Don, where does Mookie go? He would look good on Blu and he is big enough to handle it. Perhaps AP's fill in for the outdoors?

People mention Yamaha would not pull the plug on their factory effort because they just got a new rig. Think about how long ago they had to place that order for a new rig. A year ago? Maybe longer? Point is their plans may have changed after placing that order. Just speculation but something to consider.

It also wouldn't be difficult to apply some Star Racing logos to the trailer.

This is a bit off topic, but where is everyone getting their info? I'm not sure what podcasts to listen to about specific things like silly season. I'm sure it comes up throughout all of them at some point, but where is the best place to get this info? I'm obviously a fan, so I don't have the "insider" knowledge. Just would like to be able to get more info even if it is more speculation Smile

Most people are just regurgitating what they heard from Pulp MX, Main Event Moto, DMXS or stuff they heard on past forums posts.

Yamaha is a billion dollar company. Don’t think they are sweating the 500k for a rig. Corporate people make corporate decisions. Star will get it. All this is is factories farming out the operations like they do in 250’s Suzuki with JGR and now Yamaha with Star.

That Factory Yamaha bought a new semi doesn't really tell us the future of their involvement in the sport. Yamaha invested very heavy in partnered teams over here in Europe with Wilvo running the factory effort in MXGP, and supporting on satellite teams. Management might believe this structure works good for Yamaha?

Yea star yam 450’s with DF, AP and one more. They’re not closing down the factory team just giving it to star to run. It’s always a crack up when known “rumors” that are pretty set in stone are put up one here and guys like you just can’t wrap your head around it lol
