I am a Sexton fan, so obviously I love him being the back to back champ. But like, cmon now guys. If the fuel is illegal, it's illegal, Sexton and the team have to pay the price. I'm hoping it's just a last ditch move by Star to get themselves the championship...but this is racing. Protests happen. Let the AMA decide on the matter and then deal with it.

I have no dog in the fight here but I will say that, that Geico Honda had some amazing power with that 2nd gear start the other night. Unsure I hope it's not true though because Chase is a worthy champion.

Well, cheating is more chicken shit than tattling for cheating, but yeah neither are great. Plus, what are you supposed to do, just let low integrity cheaters beat you and you should accept your submissive floormat role and keep your mouth shut? Nah, you save it and stick it to 'em when it would hurt the most.

I want to think that if a team goes through the motions to protest bike fuel that there is something to support it. Star had a good year, multiple wins, podiums, a championship.. why spoil it by just trying to stir up speculation over nothing...

Nothing wrong with having a look. There’s lots to be gained with fuel so if the test comes back negative so be it. What should be happening is there should be random testing throughout the series. That’s the way it works in most forms of Motorsports. Imho.

If I was Geico I would protest their bikes just on the chance Star made a mistake (or even could be cheating) I am spiteful but.

As a racer and one that has filed protests against other riders and won because the other riders bikes were illegal, I understand the protest. It is their right to file a protest. If the fuel is illegal, it proves they cheated. If the fuel is not illegal then the protest is nul and void.

Many times the team will do the cheating, building a cheater motor, using illegal race fuel or similar and the rider will not know about it but he is still responsible for his team and whatever they do.

The red flag sure changed the nature of the race. Sexton got a second chance because of it and made the most of it.


I don't know which way it will turn out but most teams or racers don't file protests unless they feel there is a reason for it.

Meh. I think if Star knew all along the correct play would have been to take it to Geico privately and tell them what they know and if it continues you’ll just protest it publicly.

Perhaps this was already done.

You've a great point. Just like doping tests the promoter or federation should organize random fuel and bike inspections.

We don't know what it is, so if you're concerned about the other poster being accurate as to what constitues "smoke", then you kinda need to take your own advice and acknowledge that you have no idea that the protest is a random dart thrown in the dark hoping to hit something. If Star is right do you blame them?

I dont, you race to win and you should try to do it fairly. If someone else is cheating I'd be pissed.

Ppl say Sexton waxed Mcelrath and there is no denying the last 2 rounds Sexton pulled away. But McElrath had some great rides too and he had two golden opportunities slip away from red flags. I think theres a lot of hate on McElrath for his podium speeches but the guy has his right to believe whatever he wants, just like anyone else.

Unless the one protested has the clout of say, a certain short guy with a bunch of titles...then they throw their weight around, kick, scream, and threaten to take their ball and go home...and the sanctioning body retreats after giving a slap on the wrist.
