I’ve recently ventured away from my usual TLD gear sets to try some other brands, who shall remain nameless, and let’s just say they have each fallen apart after only moderate use.

Based on experience, who do you feel builds the most robust, highest quality MX gear?

I only wear TLD for a reason... it looks good, fits good... and lasts a long long time, i’m still rocking GP sets that are 5 years old!

Fox, FXR, fly, alpine stars are the standouts for me. There are a few brands that are clearly behind

Troy Lee didn't last all that great for me.... I wore a hole in the knees of my Mono GP pants in about 2 months. My son blew the crotch apart in his Shadow pants from November to Feb.

I like Fly Kinetic a lot. Answer has been good to me, too.

Fly Hydrogen Lite is what I'm using at the moment and I'm blown away by the fit and finish. Feels very well made and extremely comfortable and I love the BOA waist system. Definitely the best gear I've used.

I've had good experience with the Fox 360 line too, but they've changed the design of the pants since I last bought it.

The only brand I wasn't super happy with was THOR but it was the more budget friendly gear, I've not tried the premium line.

O’Neal makes great gear. Fits well and lasts longer then you care for it to.

I've been rotating between Fox, Fly and Answer and they've all been fine. TLD is the only brand I've had that has seemed to wear out rather quickly. It's always been the inner knees.

I’ve been super impressed with TLD. Between me and the kid, seems to be pretty dang choice. I will say too, the kid has an O’Neal kit and it’s far better than what my preconceived notions where

I have a fasthouse set from 2 years ago that looks pretty much brand new. The materials aren’t high tech but they last a long time and haven’t faded or stained. The best part though is the jersey numbering they mounted on it has held up better than anything I’ve ever had and doesn’t look like some cheesy afterthought like when you try to put numbers on most other jerseys.

A little off topic and doesn't answer your question, but I had some Alias gear and that stuff just wouldn't quit. whoever their vendor was, made some quality stuff imo.

O’neal. Hardware kit is their most durable line.

I’ve always ran fly and had awesome luck. Recently Leib sent me one of his canvas jerseys and the quality of the thing is freaking amazing quality and design is bad ass. Only thing I don’t know is If they make a vented jersey like fly if that’s the route you’re going.

MSR was always the longest lasting for me. Oneal is up there too. It's made for old vet riders, so you can buy some now and it'll still be around when your old enough to wear it. Fly seems to strike a good balance of longevity and comfort too.

I second this. I was pleasantly surprised at how durable and comfortable Alias gear ended up being. I’m bummed it ended, that’s for sure.

Switched to UFO last year and I’ll never go back to any of the regular US mainstream brands again

I’m not sure if you have seen or heard of my brand Bolt Everywear, but I will happily give you a 100% refund of your money if you are not happy with the durability or quality. It is not like the thin cheaply made pants with cheap leather inside the knees that is commonly used now. I believe you will be very surprised with our quality !
If you email me I will get it sorted for you, I will give you a free pair of gloves for trusting in us and if you go through with us I will put it in writing with my email signature that you will be refunded if not happy!

Tom Carroll

I've never had a problem with any brands high end stuff. It's when I drop down to a cheaper line for some practice gear and the knees rip put first ride or two. You get what you pay for.

Of the brands I've run, Fox 360 has been most durable for me. Have also used Fly, Answer and MSR. All held up relatively well, but the Fox 360 is a cut above the others. As someone mentioned above, you get what you pay for.

FXR and alias both last longer than TLD GP gear. It’s hard to beat the quality of the FXR pants IMO

Ive tried most the big brands.
Currently favoring TLD.
Will say that how you wash your gear definitely affects the life you get out of it.
