Bring the Semi Races Back!

Does anyone else think it is boring without the semi races? Watching them just 'ride around' trying to get a top nine finish is like watching paint dry in my opinion.

Having the semi's, the qualifiers were pretty good with guys trying hard (and actually racing) to make the top four. And then the semi races were entertaining with them trying to get top five. Plus, we see more racing.

Also, I like the idea of a rider having three chances to get in compared to only two.

The format is pretty boring right now. Someone commented the other day about how boring it is getting and they need to do something to spice it up. This is an easy thing to do and would help.

Exposure for the rest of the field, downside is it makes the show longer for TV.

We don't need more of the slow guys (you want to talk boring), we need more of the fast guys.

Bring on the Triple Crowns.

Still a three hour show but with more and better racing. They used to do it just fine. Now we get lots of non racing filler.

I think Triple Crown races are great and they should do half the races that way.

But bringing the semi's back does not put more slow guys in the final. Same top nine make it but better and more racing to watch.

How so? The tv slot has always been 3 hrs. We replaced some bad ass racing for make up to mud and watching Mc explain adrenaline. Both of witch were on race day live also. Personally I would rather watch racing. That’s what we came here for correct?

After the top 10 have made the show, the rest is just filler. Time for a pizza, or maybe take a nap.

I'd Say no to bringing the semi's back
But I would like to see a new B main
Make it a Money race for the Guys that didn't make the main.
Or a 125 race.

I'm 50/50 on this.

Isn't it a fact that these four strokes break down the track more than in the past and this schedule allows them more time to maintain the track?

I’m a fan of racing, plain and simple. Every time there’s bikes on the track, I will watch it. However, give me Triple Crowns all day. As a fan, much more intense, meaningful racing.

I think this is partly why the semis were clipped (again). Honestly one of the biggest problems SX has is trying to fit the whole program into a 3 hour slot for TV. This won't be a popular opinion, but I think the program should have semis again, and maybe even a B-main or a superpole or something. The solution would be to extend the racing program, and come up with a plan where the whole program is available for live streaming, but the actual TV package only shows the main events. For attracting new viewers to the broadcast, if it was 90 minutes it might actually be better. I can only imagine someone with no knowledge tuning in and being excited by the heat races, then hitting that dead spot and changing the channel or walking away.

Anyway, bring on the downvotes.

I thought I missed them, then they brought them back a few years back, and it wasn't the same. Not sure it was the bikes, deeper field in the past, or less of an upper echelon of elite riders, but there wasn't much gained really.

Either make it through the heats or LCQ and bring on the main.

I don't want to see more racing that doesn't mean anything in the big picture. The championship guys will always(95%) qualify right from the heats or LCQ and that's what matters in the main.

Prices go up, bike time on the track goes down and fuck the triple crowns, they suck ass.

It's funny, there was enough down time at A1 to do all sorts of other racing.

A lot of you guys love the acronym ROI and plainly there's a shitty ROI for SX tickets.

Again, 250s should be full time and at every fucking round. There should he a 125 regional series instead of the Futures bullshit, have an amatuer day fine but it should be for true amatuers. KTM kids should be at every round.

One of the things uninitiated friends of mine always ask is why is there so much down time at a SX event? I've brought people who thought the whole thing was boring and stupid because there's so little racing. They think the idiotic county fair bullshit they do at intermission is a farce and doesn't do the sport any favors. There's a shit ton of things that could make the program better but putting less bikes on the track for less time is counter intuitive. And again fuck the triple crowns. Hate's a strong word unless it's justified.

Bingo. Its boring. I love racing. But i dont love watching them fight over gate pick for 2 hrs before the actual racing happens.

Outdoor format is way better. Qualifying happens before the show. Then every minute of what your watching matters.

Triple Crown is way better then the standard sx format. You lose most people before the mains start as it is.

I don’t even want to watch an LCQ. Just take 11 from the heats and get on with it already.

L - losers
C - chance
Q - to qualify

You're pretty close to getting it right, the NHRA has a full day of racing condensed into a couple hour TV package. How to do it... fairly easy actually. The night program starts at 6pm, the heats and whatever filler they have are pre-recorded. This also allows for more post race interviews as well as "at the truck" interviews. Yeah it'll be a bitch to run and get them done but hey it's content. The broadcast starts at 7pm like usual, then join the mains at 8 to 8:30 live, trimming almost an hour out of the overall TV broadcast. Boom done.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve spilled more beer watching the slow guys than the fast guys over the years. Those complete scrap battles are pure entertainment.

This x10000. And the east coast is finishing A1 an hour earlier, easier again for casual fans.

I can't believe they took out 4 races, but it's still 3 hours long. Cut an hour off of that schedule. I know they won't because that is an hour of commercials they can't sell.

I never much liked the semis. 10 generally unimportant races taking up the first 1:40 of the broadcast, followed by the two races that actually matter. Semis were always the least interesting out of the Heat-Semi-LCQ. The fastest guys usually weren't in them anyway, and even if you didn't make top 5, you still had another chance in the LCQ. Always felt like filler, and half the time I just fast forwarded from the last heat to the last couple laps of the 450 LCQ.

Make it a Money race for the Guys that didn't make the main.
Or a 125 race.
Last place in the LCQ makes a $1,070. Last place in the Main makes $2,000

It sure isn't better now with nothing in between the qualifier and LCQ. The program is still three hours. We just have two less races to watch and more 'nothing'.

I won't lie, it would be pretty cool to watch a "Dash for Cash" type of race. Anyone on any bike that made the night show can enter. Make it 2 or 3 laps, only 1st place gets the payout, maybe like 1 or 2k.

Throw the traditional format away. Triple crown 1000x better.
